House Rules

I thought there was a lack of sofa space for nine people, something the judges didn't seem to notice.

Candy & Ryan should have chosen country style cabinet doors in their kitchen but they just went with plain modern ones.

And I couldn't understand why Candy said something about the stove having sentimental value for Brooke.... and then Brooke actually said the same thing? WTF? It's a STOVE!

Overall I hated the house, I couldn't live there, but then thankfully it wasn't done for me.

Obviously the only thing she got out of the divorce settlement

This series contestants are all crap at design/decor, clueless - like the average person really.
Maybe worse than average, what has worked has been flukes.

Why, why, why if your gifted a chance on a mega bucks winner RTV show HAVEN'T YOU DONE ANY HOMEWORK?!?

They should know design trends and concepts. They would have all been glued to the block, living room, house and garden and any reno shows.
And they all have web access - why are they so stupid.

Strange the Tassie's didn't fall over and gush about the extensions, fab flooring, or anything much.
And they could have instilled a bit more gratitude in the kids - a nice big family cheers to camera, might have stopped all the insults flying your entitled way.

And a fake shout out - that rope search was totally contrived. Tassie Hobart is a major maritime centre, there are maritime/fishing/boating suppliers everywhere, with lots of rope.
And I would sacrifice anything for central heating in Tassie so cold, all they got is a couple of fireplaces, crap.

Yeah well, at least the Tassie Two can now separate the girl from the boys.
Brooke really seems to be a nasty piece of work. It makes me wonder if it is like the 'Kellie' syndrome on MKR, but I am in doubt. She seems to be a really nasty piece of work, and as said tonight that Karma may catch up.
How cute was Carol and Russ to offer that they would swap and stay in the tent? Think that time in Tassie, might have rekindled something ;)
What is with the sloping floors? Is it a restumping problem? How long will it be before the house slumps again, if the house is not restumped? Tiles will start a popping ...... Surely they have an engineer look over the place? Asbestos? They must have know it was there before demo?
Anyway, I do like this show.
I really hope Brooke and Grant DONT get the 10s .......

I did think the same about the sofa but all 7 seemed to fit on comfortably enough, though not much room to grow. And I said the same about the kitchen too.

Surprise surprise Grant is whining about how Brooke is being portrayed: http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2014/05/reality-contestants-defend-its-only-tv.html Hopefully if he's speaking to the media that confirms their elimination.

To this week - another week of needlessly split zones. Also considering they went to the effort of the extension last week you'd think they'd have come up with a whole house solution to the leaning floor this week. The time thing bugs me again - we see the contestants have 7 days to go, go to the hotel for the night, return for demo day, get kicked out for "four hours" and suddenly the clock reads 5 days 7 hrs to go - a whole day seemed to vanish.

With the show in it's latter stages really hope they don't screw up the format by needlessly stressing it out - new contestants is a no-no, though maybe one final mystery house to renovate would be good - or indeed one each for the two finalists.

Last year the final week was the "fix up" challenge for the final 5 on the Tuesday, the gardens for the final 4 on the Wednesday and Sunday then the grand final on the Monday with the secret extra rooms. I wouldn't be surprised if they stick to that but maybe flesh it out over two weeks rather than one - the gardens could easily be two episodes each if needs be. Any more though is a bit much though and makes the main concept of the show increasingly irrelevent.

The fix it final part could easily take 2 weeks @Brekkie, and I hope it does - don't leave them with some of the idiot things they have done.
I love Carol.
I love the relationship between Maddie and Carol.
They are all nice apart from Tassie arseholes, and they are arseholes, don't use kids as an excuse to be arseholes, makes you even more stinky.
And bomber - Mel needs to be rescued from that idiot, a gorgeous tradie needs to swoop in and sweep her off her feet

It is very convenient viewing having no Voice on tuesday, this and the reveal is all i need, with bits and pieces during adds.

I just dont believe that it is all done in 7 days. like the show.
Hard to believe, but someone on another forum lives around the corner from one of the houses in this season (can't remember which, could have been Adelaide) and said they were there for eight days all up.

Wha? Really?? It must be a real rushed and shoddy job... Well, in saying that you can see that from some of the close ups - Paint on the carpet, unfinished bits...

The only one I doubted being 7 days was Brooke and Grant's - the extension didn't make it seem realistic. I just want to know what happens on Day 3 as we always seem to go from 6 days & something to go to 4 days & something to go in the space of about 15 minutes on the show. Perhaps they do all the tedious boring stuff on the third day, but at least fill us in.

maybe with Brooke and Grants they made an exception and had an extra day (or so) with tools down, to let the concrete flooring dry and get the extension built by the professionals?
they usually have a few days off between houses because of the judging, and needing a break..maybe they took a couple days off in Tassie instead during that time period?

Apart from this Queenslander and the Tassie job - the houses have been tiny, I don't see a problem with teams and tradies getting it all done in a week.

Have you seen that UK show 60 minute makeover? They do 3-4 rooms in one hour - and maybe they are fudging a bit, but still.

Note - they are avoiding flatpacks, the time killers, except for that barbie. Everything else seems to come already built and ready to go.
God I hope those tassies get the last couple of weeks in the tent and then eliminated, they are just mean.
The gloating over the cladding was quite revealing, they sure don't give a shit about the owners, they make me want to smack em.

In 60 Minute Makeover they have measured up, locked in the right tradies and ordered and taken delivery of everything they need weeks before they even start the clock. And then they only go for 30 minutes and take a break for a while (just how long exactly? Maybe they can go and get anything else they need or forgot...?) It's not like tradies need a break after 30 minutes.

If you bought flat packs on this show you would need your head read. But if Brooke and Grant assembled that BBQ offsite... I guess you could take flat packs back to the hotel as well and put them together at night?

Yeah that 60mins thing is a bit of a fantasy - but I love that show, it's so funny pommie with the cuppa in the middle, and some weird results.
But the one I wish would come back was with 2 gay guys restyling and decorating absolute nutjobs gone crazy decor.
Is it How Not to Decorate? Hilarious, and they love ignoring the owners wishes -rightly so, you have to see it to believe some of them.

Loving how wrong Brooke and Grant seem to have got it this week - that wallpaper does just not work and the ceiling is horrendous. Really hope it's Adam and Lisa getting the perfect scores this week, although with that said as the renos are supposed to be the main purpose of the competition I think they should eliminate 2 teams after they're done rather than just the one and move straight on to the gardens. Would be funny though if Brooke and Grant are eliminated and everybody chooses the rooms they did to be fixed up.

We were laughing because it moreso looked like an army tent in Iraq rather than somewhere beachy in the Bahamas

HAHAHA!

Brooke and Grants zone was terrible and really should have come in at last place rather than Bomber and Mel. So glad their house is next and the Tasteless Tassies are in the tent. Sacks on the roof!? What were they thinking! I also ABHOR word knick-nacks/decals. I mean really why the fuck do you to need be told what do in a room? I'm not simple, I know you sleep and relax in a bedroom.

Don't think Brooke and Grant have any cause to complain considering they praised zones and scored them lower than the marks they got for their zone which was slated. To be fair though I did like their deck.

Really happy for Adam and Lisa and on the whole agree with the judges this week on most things, though thought they were a bit harsh on Bomber and Mel and Carole and Russell's living room. Talking of which though after all that nonsense about horizontal panelling last week both the homeowners and judges criticised it in the living room and Master Bedroom (and didn't even comment on the vertical panel). They definately need to fire that so called design expert for the next series.

Just looking at the scores for next week and Brooke and Grant need a perfect 30 to go above Mel and Bomber and are 13 points behind their nearest rivals in Adam and Lisa - think it's safe to say they'll be off home.

Last nights show was amaze. All I can say is eat a big bag of d*cks Brooke and Grant.

It's so funny re the tent situation... If Brooke didn't run her mouth about NSW not having a tent week yet she would've avoided the tent as Ryan and Candy were going to offer to tent it.

I'm stoked Tassie got thrashed last night but rightfully so. Their zone was hideous and they were so far from the design brief. I appreciate they may try hard but they're just daggy, stubborn and it's been mentioned numerous times that their workmanship is just not up to scratch. See you later Tassie!

I shed a bit of a tear last night when Adam and Lisa got all 10s. They're beautiful and their zone definitely deserved it. They worked hard and it paid off.
