House Rules

Just a shame Seven didn't realise how much more that moment would impact on it's viewers if they hadn't plugged it all week. They could have just teased that someone gets a 10.

See ya later Tassie nasties - and for once I really can't find any RTV producer manipulations, she is a straight up bitch, and he is her weaker bitch shadow.
I think they actually tried to make these 2 more palatable - impossible.
They are damn lucky they got the reno.

OMG that wallpaper - that should be immediate elimination. What the friggin hell, it's 70s hideous, allways vile.

I would be sleeping in the very lovely guest room until that wallpaper is gone.

Isn't it weird nobody went for the usual beachy yellow & blue.

And clearly nobody amongst the contestants has lived in a beachy area - the floors are all wrong.
Should have been bleached, matt, pale boards - shiny wood is friggin murder anywhwere near sand, you clean the floor & turn around to more sand and dust.

Everybody did well apart from the disaster couple, and Mel's horrible dark dinning room.

Tassie's verandah is clearly a cool living area - crying out for a luxurious treatment, it was basic.

Can't wait for the Tassies to get the boot.

Oh My - Those Tassies (Maybe it should be THAT Tassie) ..... I think it does not help that the look that Brooke gets on her face! She scowls and has a smartarse face sometimes, I am sure someone working on that show, would have wanted to wipe it off her face!

They so deserved to be in the tent. Ugly Choices - that wallpaper - :vomit: - No hanging space? WTF. In fact, they deserve to leave. I really hate to see any person being so smug, and even if she was used as the 'villian'. I do not see so much venom between any other contestants. Maybe that is how she gets what she wants in life - who knows .......

Rather see positive relationships growing between those playing a 'game' and there are a few. Not the ugly scowl she bring out and the workmanship that Grant brings? - Not a good reference for future employment :(

I really like all of the other contestants. They all bring something refreshing to how a relationship works and how it can fit in with other couples.

I really likes the art work that Mel chose - maybe it might have been better for a different area, as it was a screen (I think)

I am so happy for Lisa and Adam - they did great and for Carol and Russ taking them under their wings - was awesome!

Don't not really have a favorite to win, as yet, as long as it is not the Tassie Two - I will be happy

I know from earlier in the thread they stop the teams socialising but it is absolutely clear to me the way to get things done in this competition is to team up with your neighbours for each reno and build good relationships. We saw that with Maddie & Lloyd and Candie & Ryan in an early reno and now with Carole & Russell and Adam & Lisa - it just helps so much to know what those around you are doing, and also helps considerably when it comes to renovating their house. I suspect a large part of the reason Brooke and Grant are doing so badly is that they don't really give the others the time of day, so not only don't have allies during the renos but also don't know they people they're renovating for.

As for this week - no surprise Maddie & Lloyd got the kitchen though I wish they'd kept the prize for the winners a consistent "choose your zone" (with a 2nd win allowing you to choose all zones) - producers obviously didn't want to risk Adam & Lisa choosing the kitchen. It's a bit wrong though Carole has yet another bathroom - that's at least 3 out of the 5 renos.

Bloody hell, why are the Tassie devils being spoonfed a rescue???

They will still suck tho :)

On another forum someone tallied all the points (via Wikipedia) and Bomber and Mel are on 97. Brooke and Grant are on 68 (one less Reno).

So to get above them on the leaderboard Brooke and Grant would need a perfect 30 this week. Unlikely.

I feel ashamed of myself, but this news makes me suitably happy :)

Yes, I worked it out earlier in the thread. And despite Jo saying there was "a couple of points" between all teams they're 13 points behind Adam and Lisa - there is no chance they'll get 13 points more than them on one reno.

It's going to be a big party at my place (note: My Pomeranian and I lol) when Brooke and Grant get eliminated. They just have no idea and even after some guidance, they still don't really get it.

Brick printed wall paper.... Oh... Lovely.

Looking at the 7 website the format will deviate from last years next week:

Tuesday: The five remaining teams are given their toughest challenge yet to transform an entire house in four days! With a tight budget and an even tighter turnaround, it will push the teams to the limit.

Wednesday: Pressure is mounting for the teams as the clock ticks down. With a new set of rules and a tight budget, all teams are in chaos.

Oh really?? Interesting. I wonder who the house belongs to? I guess it could be like The Block where they renovate random houses..

Did anyone like Maddi's attempt of splattering the black paint on the glass for the kitchen splashback?
Nope, I couldn't see how it was worth the effort. I guess they can change it easily enough if they hate it. I don't like it when they do things that are not an easy fix if the homeowner doesn't like it e.g the pressed metal all over the lounge room walls.

That really is too much. Would have been great to have a pressed metal ceiling in the lounge, with dark wood panelling as a dado. And Ryan was doing such a sloppy job spraying on the undercoat, no wonder Candy doesn't want him doing her spray tans! He should be doing it in slow even strokes... Not that I've ever spray tanned anyone.

They obviously weren't expecting this. I think it was Candy on Monday's epsiode who said Bomber and Mel's house was their last 'inside' Reno. She was apparently expecting the garden renos to come next.

Agree, I had visions of wood panelling for a gentleman's club feeling and the pressed metal for just the ceiling. I've never tried spray painting but if I was going on one of those shows I think I would take a crash course.

Ummm NO!

What the fuck was that? It looked horrible.

So I loved the pressed metal, I think if it is done right it will look really good. Kind of reminds me of the sets from Broadwalk Empire. If I were on the show one of my rules would be "Give me old world charm like Broadwalk Empire"

I hope the splashback gets changed or at least looks ok once it's up in the kitchen..I hope it doesn't affect their scores.

Agree with most here that Maddi's splashback was pretty awful and that Ryan's overdone it somewhat on the pressed metal.

I really do like the concept of this reno though to actually renovate stuff rather than go to the sponsors store and buy everything new.
