Last movie you saw

I'm just excited to see a new tron movie

So am I.

Tron was always something I was aware of, but didn't know if I had ever seen it. If so it would have been when I was young and don't remember it. When the DVD came out quite a few years back, I picked it up and was really impressed. The film stood up really well, despite some of the goofy visuals. It actually seemed really contemporary and modern. Couldn't believe it was made when it was, really ahead of the time. Been a big fan ever since.

I am really wrapped at the idea they are doing a proper sequel! How cool is that, the assumed route would be just a remake. But no.. a full on, big budget sequel!

It's great! I think what's also great is, the sequel doesn't seem unnecessary. Like say if they made another back to the future sequel, or the Indy Sequel(well that was unnecessary only because they didn't hit a home run.) Even if this fails to deliver it still wouldn't have been a sequel for sequel sake.

Just geeks my geeky, movie spider sense tingling!

Film looks really interesting and cool as well!

Apparently they've done a super cleaned up, remastered version of the Original which may be theatrically released in 3D, but may just be put on Bluray. I'm generally opposed to 3d conversion, but Tron's a film where it could work. Purely because the world it's set in, is generally very geometric and clean. It wouldn't have the same array of massive problems to get it to look right that something like clash of the titans had. Building a 3d model of a light cycle to super impose on top of the original 80s render is a lot easier then matching a 3d model of Perseus riding a flying horse.

Rampage

Another Uwe Boll film.

This is another one of his loosely scripted dialogue films. It was actually a fairly entertaining 80 minutes that went by quickly.

The films about a guy in his early 20s who decides to build himself an armoured suit and walk around his town shooting people. Literally dozens of people are killed during the film. There's a bit of a black humour element to it. It's not really that graphic, the action is nothing special. Yet the film remains entertaining. You just don't really care about the people killed, or the main character, you are kind of rooting for him. Yet don't care what happens. It's just entertainment.

If a film of a guy who decides to massacre lots of people based on his disgruntled view that people aren't all created equal, and a bit of, he thinks he's better than his shit life at home, his shit life at work ect. If it sounds like you couldn't find entertainment in then yeah avoid. It doesn't condone it. It just is what it is. Don't think it was condoning what the guy was doing or anything. Film doesn't have to always have a good guy.

Well it beats his usual style of making movies of video games......

He and Shymalan should make a movie together they're both hacks

Uwe has actually seemed to sort of hit onto a decent thing. He's decided, you know what, let's not try and make traditional movies, following traditional conventions. Seeing he's no longer going to be making films that'll get wide cinema releases, why not be different? Show things, ideas, stories concepts that normally wouldn't get done. It's not clever intelligent cinema, but something different. Actually I have enjoyed a fair few of his films. It's entertainment.

I've seen some stuff of him speaking and read some stuff. He's actually a pretty smart guy with a lot of really valid opinions about films. Especially how all hollywood films have to follow certain conventions. You must have a good guy. The main character, good guy must survive. Generally when any of these are broken it's in a, "wow aren't we amazing sense" but not done by film makers who haven't proven themselves. Yet most proven film makers play safe, and up and coming play safe because it's the thing to do. I actually think if he can stick on the path there's a fair bit of good to come.
I am quite looking forward to his film on Dafur. Which is on the genocide there. It's actually had a fair bit of really positive word.

Difference is, Uwe knows he's crap. Shymalan thinks he's a genius and keeps getting worse. Uwe has actually learnt and gets better and is now finding what works best for him.

I haven't seen Shutter Island, but I am curious to see it. I don't mind a slow movie if it's got a bit of meat to it.

It's not the slowness, though it is slow, it just doesn't work. Early on you 'get' it and watching it unfold is plain tedious. And I'm a big fan of DiCaprio, I've really liked him in pretty much everything I've seen him in from the Basketball Diaries to Revolutionary Road.

Well maybe then he could team up with The Asylum they're pretty different and make a lot of money from "mockbusters"

The web page for booking the Gold Lounge for "Inception" for tonight was down so we decided to do a DVD marathon instead.

We started with "Shutter Island" ... nicely played is what I reckon, though the
gun holster fumble early on gave it away
, and certainly my kind of ending.

Moving on with Operation MindFLICK, we then watched "9".

Yes, that's right. A movie called "9"

All I'm going to say about it is:

Now that LSCP has fallen asleep, it's time to fire up "The Hurt Locker" while playing some more MW2 on xbox live. :)

What did you think of The Hurt Locker? I loved the intensity of that movie, thought it was really good.

I don't know what he thought but I really did enjoy it. It was an excellent film and even though it wasn't on a huge budget it had a big budget feel to it..... All the actors really made their roles feel somewhat believable which doesn't often happen in a movie.

Hurt Locker was well done, but it is incredibly over rated and didn't deserve the oscars is got. It had some well constructed scenes which were well directed but yeah over all while good it wasn't the brilliant master piece it was made out to be. Maybe I should watch it again. I saw it ages ago, before there was hype, so when there was the hype last year and the oscar talk it was like... what?

I reckon it had a brilliant ending, alli .... from the cereal boxes onwards really spoke to me in particular; I knew exactly where he was coming from.

I mean, which is more nuts ... what he had to face as part of his chosen profession, or the 50 metres of choices on the supermarket shelves ?

Clearly the latter. Especially in the muesli section. :p;):)

Saw Inception, such a great, great film and one of the best soundtracks to a film i've heard in a very long time.

V for Vendetta

What an unusual movie!
I didn't see the point of the middle of the movie. I reckon it could have been cut out & not be missed.

Yeah kind of out of place isn't it?

The ending was good though..... I wish people could really rise up like that when government doesn't suit them.

Repo Men

A gorey scientice fiction action movie, where Jude Law and Forrest Witicker play organ repossession men. Basically when you need a new organ you can buy or finance one from The Union. How ever if you miss payments they will come and reposes your organs with no regard for your safety or health. It was quite a decent movie. It's nothing great but it was entertaining and the whole concept is quite interesting. It's the sort of film you should really have no expectations for, and you should know if it's a film you'd like.
