Last movie you saw

Up - Very cute movie, not the best from disney pixar though. Had a lot of humourous parts but I think this movie will appeal more to the kiddies. Still, not bad at all. ***1/2

I'm in the mood for movies lately, so today I watched...

Out of *****

Valkyrie - a lot better than what I've heard it was (I don't think there are many people who take Tom Cruise's acting seriously anymore). But the story was interesting, it did seem to drag out at times. The guy playing Hitler wasn't as convincing as what I hoped... the look of evil on Hitler's face is usually enough to make your heart skip a beat, I don't think anyone can really re-create that anyways. ***1/2

Good Hair - I've been dying to see this for a long time, finally got my hands on it! If you haven't heard of it, it's a documentary by Chris Rock to see why black women straighten their hair, or use wigs/weaves.

Very informative, especially since I'm obsessed with hair. I didn't like the fact that he kept saying they were "trying to be white". I'm not black and I don't have afro hair, but I can imagine what a pain it must be to maintain.. something that CR didn't seem to understand, or even look into. It was all "they straighten it to be white, they want to blend it with society". Then again, I don't expect much from guys in that department. Still, very entertaining. ****

Transformers 2... Revenge of the crap. err, fallen......

Well where to start on this? Lots and lots, and lots of CGI eye candy and robot mayhem, but very little else. Michael Bay is like Uwe Boll but on a bigger budget.. IMHO

Humans that are transformers with weird tails coming out their panties and super long metal tongue thing... Sure why not? Bzzzzzzt no thanks.

Things moved so fast that you could not tell what was going on and which robot was fighting which other robot.

Little robot disguised as a toy truck humpng Megan Fox's leg like a puppy... Sick.....

Former Sector 7 agent standing under Decepticon "I'm standing under the enemy's scrotum" he tells the commander of a ship in the ocean. Riiiiiight

There was a story in there somehere. I was led to believe. A very small story that could have been done in 110 minutes and not 130....

Oh and if you are Megan Fox you can run in the desert and everyone else around you gets dirty yet your clothes stay pristine white....

Devastator...Now I was looking forward to a CGI version of him but what a disappoiontment. All we got was this large lumbering thing with what looked like a vacum cleaner out the front of it sucking up anything in its path.... Devastator also had a scrotum, which was mentioned earlier...

I was hoping for a proper version like the original series where trucks combined to make a giant green robot....

OK 4/10 for this piss poor effort.

Saw Boys are Back, it was kind of dreary, passable-ish. Best things - the eldest kid & Sth Oz scenery.
The youngest kid gave me the shits, Clive Owen looks old.
2012 looks like an awesome trippy joyride from the previews, want to see that & Dorian Gray.
I'm going to the movies a lot, joined a movie club and its heaps cheaper - like about $6-7 cheaper.

Bruno on DVD.

I'm sorry but this was not funny, ok there were probably 2 laugh out loud moments but that's about it.. I felt like I was watching a mockumentary where everything was staged and scripted.. the real people like the campers were the funniest thing about the movie.

It was obviously more staged than "Borat".

The final scene wasn't staged though, that Arkansas crowd was the real McCoy. Always did love that Celine Dion song.

Some scenes didn't work at all, found those too bleak. One such scene had to be explained to me a week later because I didn't get it at the time....and I just find that kind of humour unnecessary.

However, other scenes were funny. The swingers party harpy, and particularly the Jerry Springer style chat show, when he talks about his baby "OJ". That was good.

Bruno - 6/10. I LOVE Borat i think it's a fantastic look at middle America through the eyes of an 'innocent' foreigner and there was a decent plotline but Bruno had hardly a plot line it was very haphazard and it felt like it was more geared towards American comedy rather than just...being universally funny. It wasn't smart like Borat was but at the same time i cried laughing at the ghost blow job but that was the only part i really found funny.

Eden Lake - 8/10 - Similar to movies like The Descent and Last House on the Left i really enjoyed this film actually, it was tastefully made and a very worrying look at the youth of Britain today. The ending was very original.

Saw "Whale Rider" on VCR. Now, I know it's been on tape a real long time, in the ad break there was breaking news about the Beaconsfield miners.

"Whale Rider" gave me the shits. The scene riding the whale was kind of good in a scary kind of way. Rawene Paritane's character was really off-putting but I suppose that was the point. Wonderful acting, but a bit close to home. 6/10

Yeah, learn how to spell. If anyone's 'ghey', it's Britney Spears. How many tweeny queers go to her concerts?

I'm merely saying a number of gay fans go to her shows. I would not. What's she gonna do, tell 'em to stay away and miss out on the concert ticket sales?
