Last movie you saw

TBJ, I liked Morning Glory too. Nothing earth shattering, but well acted and genuinely funny in parts. Plus I got to sit ther e& recognise parts of New York where I had been.

I watched that a couple weeks ago arthur!!! It's very disturbing. Like, ick. But the acting is brilliant, I'm very impressed with Casey Affleck.

No one answered my question........ Is Black Swan a depressing film to watch? I know Beautiful Kate was

Also I'm having a jaws night all 3 Jaws movies

I saw the trailers for Black Swan when I saw the Kings Speech.
I made a note to not bother watching it.
It looks very weird.

Has anyone else seen The Kings Speech?
I loved it, but I probably should have brushed up on some royal history.
It took me most of the movie to work out that Bertie was the queens' father, and that the queen from Alice in Wonderland was the Queens mother.

Just went and saw it with hubby for our anniversary. I loved it and already know the storyline (Nanna was a bit of royalist!) and I made sure I explained it to hubby before we went in. Great movie!

At the end hubby said, "Well I thought that movie was going to be shit and I just came along to please you but it was great!"

:p
It's not very often that a movie can please both hubby & wife.
My hubby loved it as well.
I listened to the real speech on youtube when I got home.
It's amazing what you can find on youtube.

Thanks Arthur I just did that. Colin Firth was amazing after you hear that! What an awesome actor and Mr Rush wasn't too shabby either!

The Queen mother was a catty old thing hey!

I watched '9' an animated movie on dvd. I didn't know anything about it but I loved the cover -steampunk kind of style - good movie, really enjoyed it.

Ip Man 2.

A great chinese martial arts movie. Ip Man was apparently Bruce Lee's teacher, and this is his fictionalised life. A calm modest man with an amazing ability to kick ass. Great fight sequences. A bit "Rocky" ending, where he takes on an British Boxer. The English are the big villains, as they often are in HK movies, ramped up to the point of racist caricature. But it's the classic run of being beaten down, then the big comeback.

Ip Man is an interesting character. Always calm and simple and thinking of others before himself. Always trying to cool his hot headed students. Making peace with his opponents, rather than beating them to a pulp. Supposedly the epitome of Chinese Humility.

A really good movie, if you can get over being personally stamped as being one of the Bad Guys.

Has anyone seen Black Swan or 127 hours?

I like the sound of Black Swan but hate that director, I detested his Requiem for a Dream - unrelentingly depressing and also very predictable what was going to happen.

127 hours - no way I could take watching this, apparently there have been a few people faint and so on. I love James Franco but this sounds too horrible for me (and wouldn't you think the real guy would be first on any arm transplant lists).

I need to do a movie marathon day.
I want to see both those movies. Black Swan, 127 Hours, and also True Grit, The Fighter, The Kings Message, Shaolin, The Social Network, and heck even Green Hornet.

It's been so long since I've gone to the movies... that's about 16 hours worth. I could do it in a day. I need the rest of the family to go off on a holiday somewhere for a weekend.

Re-watched the matrix trilogy this week.

It's interesting. First film is still quite good. Although the problem is, you've now seen a lot of the stuff done again, parodied and better versions since. I guess that's the problem of being an somewhat groundbreaking film. People take the lead and run with it doing bigger and better things.

The second one, only the second half is good, and there's just odd choices that are pointless. The action is mostly unegaging and lacks any reality. most of the kung-fu seems like choregraphed play fighting. No danger at all.

Third film, which the whole over all plot from the second and this si quite unclear. Is at least entertaining for the most part. The action is more engaging. The whole Zion fight is quite cool, as is the superman fight.

So yeah they do seem two films where the writers through in everything they could thing of with out focusing on the story they wanted to tell. Lots of random ideas and so forth to detract from the story.

A lot of the things in The Matrix (1st film) were ripped off the movie Virtuosity. And yeah lots of random things to distract from the lack of story. The 1st film is IMHO where they should have stayed.

Well it seems they thought up a lot of cool idea you could do with the films. With no real good story ideas. Was more... what sort of things can you through into this... but didn't really explore anything.

The actual story ideas, the whole. There's a community of AI, what it is to be human, the matrix as a duel world for humans and AI. What on earth the AI world was like, why the AI really needed the people. They could have gone into a cool first law of robotics thing. Where the whole element of choice was because the AI wanted a human to make the choice to destory man kind.... so much more than could have been done iwth it.

Even the whole, Agent Smith going nuts, threatening both worlds was kind of just a superficial story over it all.
