Last movie you saw

I remember a lot of people leaving the cinema when I saw United 93. It was interesting for me because I had never actually seen the entire sequence of the planes going in before (yeah, I know, I live under a rock). Did not think much of it as a movie, though.

So United 93 is about the plane that crashed near Pittsburgh on September 11? Yeah, I would have liked to have seen that. I think it's about a year old now.

Yeah I saw it on cable and I wasn't well so I thought I'd watch it.

It just put me in perspective a bit, like I can't imagine being in that position...most knew their fate.
It wasn't really the movie that touched me,I guess it was the actual United 93' flight.

Being in that position might be a bit like being drunk...you'd be in an altered state of consciousness.

the word "Ratatouille" always reminds me of the classic final episode in Fawlty Towers.

Saw "Hairspray" on Saturday, it was quite funny indeed. Especially the John Travolta (playing the overweight mother with a southern drawl) and Christopher Walken song and dance number.

Makes me want to go and see the original with Rikki Lake in it.

mmm, used to live in flat (old villa) that would have the odd rat scamper down the hallway from the back yard, or carried inside by one our well behaved cats.

Yes I know the episode you mean GB it always makes me smile.

"He put Basil in the ratatouille"
Hehehe

I'd like to see Ratatouille but the whole vision of a rat doing my cooking makes me feel ill!

Well i know what you mean sorceress but as the rat is cute and blue and it's done so well you don't notice too much. I do understand what you mean though.

No stars

"The War on Democracy"
Not very good at all. I remember some things about Chile in the seventies, Guatemala in the eighties, the contra rebels in Nicaragua. I can remember an uncharacteristic religion lesson when a brother of the Brotherhood of St Lawrence came with his slide projector to our (catholic) school and showed us pictures of the decayed bodies of dead nuns being retrieved from shallow graves in El Salvador, in 1980.
I was imagining Pilger would have done some investigative journalism to explain how/why he believed these things were all done to kill democratic government in Latin America.
Instead, it was a brief rehash of the old footage (right back to the fifties) about Pinochet, El Gringo and Carmona and the attitude of Nixon, Regan, Bush 1 and Bush not another 1, towards them.
What Bill Clinton, Jimmie Carter, LBJ or JFK did or failed to do is not mentioned here. Dwight Eisenhower's regime is represented by his photogenic vice president, and Gerald Ford seems to have been forgotten.
There is much eulogizing of the democratically elected and reinstated President Chavez, and an unexplained sprinkling of praise for Castro snuck in there, too.
There are all the charlatan tricks of lazy journalists - including "secret documents" from the CIA, that have been revealed years ago, and that revealed only that politicians sometimes make a point of not knowing what the CIA does, lots of pictures of people doing nothing in particular, and interviews of people vehmently saying not very much at all.
There is the baffling and irrelevant inclusion of the "Duck and Cover" movie from 1951.
And an even more baffling affirmation from Pilger that now the USA has moved to a sinister new form of terror - where they support democratic governments where the major parties are all friendly to US interests. Followed by some stirring music and pictures of people going about their business in various parts of Latin America, with the unsupported but stirring pronouncement that now, the will of the people of South America, so long unheard, cannot be ignored!
And what is with Pilger's teeth? Can't he get upper dentures that fit?

I watched Casino Royale at work today. and the day before that we watched The Hills have eyes (the crappy remake one).

I saw Wild Hogs last night.
Some of it was funny, surprisingly enough - especially William H. Macy.
But there's a few stinky elements, not the least of which is Tim Allen's plastic surgery.

But Marisa Tomei was in it - so all wasn't bad...

There's a film called "Shortbus" which would be good to see, but I think it was only in limited release for festival screenings.

Just saw Stranger than Fiction. Fantastic movie.

Oh man, that's my favorite movie of 2006. Absolutely fell in love with it.

Last movie I saw was Superbad, I think. I loved it and I really didn't expect to. The "two guys trying to get laid" genre has been done to death. The only thing that made me want to see it was the fact that Seth Rogen wrote it (I loved Knocked Up). I also am a huge fan of Arrested Development and I've been waiting for Michael Cera become a big star for a while now. But yeah, really great film that hits a stronger emotional note than you'd expect.

Agreed. It deserves way more recognition than it recieved. I always love Emma Thompson... but there was something extra special about her in this.

Ah, the last movie i saw was Y Tu Mama Tambien. It was absolutely brilliant i must say and it far exceeded my expectations.

I saw Wild Hogs recently as well, heard mixed reviews, but it was good
William Macy is a crack up throughout it :D

23 with Jim Carey didnt do anything for me, just couldnt get into it at all, even with the massive twist at the end.

Last cinema movie I saw was The Bourne Ultimatum last weekend with Matt Damon. Loved all 3. Though this 3rd one was a little irritating in the fact they tried to make some scenes dramatic when it wasnt called for eg moving the camera about (like there is an earthquake happening) when they are merely sitting down talking, lol
