BBUS 26 - starts 17 July

So is the AI Instigator basically the deepfake HoH without any of the powers that came with it?

I would compare it to Reagan's run as the second saboteur during BB12. Besides the note he left, I think he was only recording pointless messages.

As much as I love Tucker if his winning streak continues it’s really going to put a damper on this season.

Fuck production have really upped their game this season… I was totally prepared for HoH to dominate this episode but this episode covered an insane amount of content. At this point I’d be shocked if they didn’t bring back the AI arena as no it’s completely changed the game in terms of storytelling. It’s sooooo 2000’s BB coded 👌🏻

I so agree. We’re at a point in the season where the narrative is established and clear for the next few weeks. The alliances are also very easy to understand and they’re showing a lot of content focusing on specific relationships.

IMO the AI comp is a really good twist. In theory the battle of the block was okay, but a comp at the end of the week was the key. The veto had been reworked almost every year until BB7 and its remained the same since, and there isn’t much else that could have been worked around it to change the game. But the AI arena at least squashes plans and the players have to navigate a potential plan B and C by working with people who they were going to vote out or people who were the back up.

And Angela is just so old school big brother. She is so 2000s BB it almost makes me think back to old school BBAU. She’s so personality focused in the edit and I love it. And the editor clearly do too lol. I hope the casting of people over 50 extends more in future. A lot of these younger players just play like everyone else has since BB16. The mass alliance strategy is so tired now. Thankfully Tucker is here to be messy. Even though he’s not playing a winning game, having Brooklyn, Cam, Chelsie and Quinn all be targeted is nothing but good.

And although the results of last season didn’t necessarily show it, but like this year last year also had several smaller groups and duos rather than giant alliances. Which is what I prefer. I feel like I’m experiencing Big Brother the way I want to again like I did 10 years ago. And I’m loving it!

That was another good episode. Loved the scene of Angela crying over Brooklyn eating her HoH goodies, as well as Tucker getting pissed about his clothes getting messed with during hide and go veto. It just felt more like Big Brother to me.

I personally hope Brooklyn wins the AI comp and is safe. Cam and Chelsie don’t bring much of interest and Brooklyn is at least going to cause drama beyond game related stuff.

IDK I think potential for Chelsie drama is shielded by Brooklyn and a potential Cam comp win could shake things up a little. Brooklyn is a straight up mean girl and getting her out now saves us from her bringing her mean spirited attitude to the jury.

Probably the least eventful and most predictable week of the series so far… That said the right person was evicted.

Seeing some discourse among alumni on Twitter about the way Tucker is playing… As I said earlier in the thread simply because he isn’t playing a safe game doesn’t mean he isn’t playing a smart game.

While neither Brooklyn or Chelsie were the brains behind The Pentagon/Collective and neither were positioned to win, they were the glue. Any other season they’d have their group so brainwashed there would have been no stopping them.

As for saving Quinn, I’d argue it was incredibly smart as his stock has been plummeting. At this point they’re both targets, by far the best competitors in the game, and like Jun/Allison in BB4 likely each others best bet. At very least following through and saving Quinn gave Tucker a favour that could be called in later in the game.

Shocking that so far the power that the likes of Kimo and T’Kor hold has gone mostly unnoticed. While I said the right person left this week I would have loved to have seen the fallout from a second vote flip.

As for Chelsie playing a safe game I think tonight proved my previous comment… Now that her shield is gone the gloves are off.

Is it just me or has the AI Arena actually made shifting the HoH in to the Sunday episode actually make sense? From past seasons has there really been much that’s made the edit between the eviction and the HoH comp? I don’t remember Sunday being much more than the HoH comp and nominations and it was usually Wednesday coving more of the weeks storyline. This season it feels more like Wednesday’s have had the least amount of coverage beyond POV.

I think it might have even been more common that they've showed us stuff that happened on the day of the eviction but before the live show even started. One instance that comes to my mind was season 21 when the pre-show feed got leaked online and Julie told people that they don't have any idea who's going to be evicted. So we had flashbacks for that.

I don't think there has been much that happened during the show but only made the Sunday show. There are only like three minutes or so during Julie's eviction interview when interesting stuff could happen that they couldn't have shown on the live show itself. If they were able to show it, they've shown it during the live broadcast and then just recapped it on Sunday's episode, e.g. Rockstar's daughter's birthday played out live on the show and then was only part of the recap.

I’m finding the clear delineation between the eviction and the HoH comp quite refreshing. Nothing completely groundbreaking has happened during that time but it does add to an overall feeling that this season’s storytelling has been more inclusive. Even the comp based episodes seem to cover a decent amount of storyline and don’t seem nearly as empty as they have in the past.

I agree that did not need to be a 2 hour ep. A lot of meaningless filler. I don’t know why recently BBUS loves dedicating a mega episode to the yankee swap veto. But in fairness the punishments this year are fucked. I would hate to be Tucker or Angela or Joseph. All of those punishments seemed really mentally gruelling. I wouldn’t even know which one I’d choose to do.

I really pray to non existent God that Makensy does not win AI tonight. Losing Tucker or Angela pre jury would kill this season narratively. But I do suppose it would make way for the rest of the cast (who are all mostly very passive players) space to shine and be forced into actually playing actively.

But I do not want Tucker gone just yet, first juror at worst. Angela still has potential to cause so much more chaos like she’s just shown AGAIN. But I do hope someone like Leah wins HoH so that something different will come into play. I don’t really know what to make of T’Kor’s HoH reign TBH. It didn’t seem like the right time for her to win.

I feel like Leah is too much of a peace to actually go for something too wild. I think someone like Rubina or even Joseph could be interesting given they’re both playing in the middle.

IDK I’m kind of turning against Angela as her unpredictability and paranoia are really starting to become a liability rather than an asset.

I’m not going to discount the potential for Makensy to make a power move like targeting the likes of Kimo/T’Kor or even Quinn. Tucker does have an extensive resume of comp wins but he’s a target in plain sight.

Interesting that while the AI Instigator has pretty much failed from a game perspective, but from a social experiment standpoint it’s been quite a success. It’s hilarious that he’s pretty much got everyone convinced they need to be studying them for a future comp lol.

As for the punishments they’re definitely brutal but from a production standpoint it’s been nice to see them actually take something seriously for once. Making the punishments more than just a ridiculous costume adds to the feeling that they’re actually making an effort.

Ugh that was AI arena was crushing. I had to close my eyes watching that.

I guess at the very least the game is open a bit more now and the number of people winning comps will hopefully increase.

Tucker will inevitably be back for the next returnee season without any doubt. But he just didn’t play a game that could be prolonged without NEEDING to win comps.

If they do a returning players season some time in the near future it has to be all returning players and a good mix of worthy players.

As for the rest of the season I’m going to try and keep an open mind but I’m not too optimistic about things.
