Big Brother: Who is he, how old is he and what has he got planned for the new housemates?

HE’S the ultimate enigma, the man with the deep voice who doesn’t miss a thing in the Big Brother house.
He’s not the newest housemate — he is the man himself.
News.com.au was given exclusive access to Big Brother to ask him all the questions we’ve been wanting to know about the elusive character.
Watch the above video to find out what Big Brother thinks of housemates who cry all the time, why Big Brother is not a woman and if he’s just one man.
But a word of warning, don’t ever ask him how old he is, when we broached the question, he was not impressed.

Look at that BRAND NEW POOL.

:bored:
That Pool! It is so...... so...... NEW! :jawdrop: Someone hold me! :giggle:

Lol. Yeah. What's with that.
The thing I hate most about BB is claims which are misleading or straight out lies. There's absolutely NO reason to say there's a brand new pool of there isn't one.

However, I'm liking the design of the island. I really disliked the tree in the 2013 version. It meant when using it the housemates all sat facing outward, away from each other. Where as in 2012, and it looks like maybe in 2014 HMs will be able to sit in there and chat and actually look at each other.

Nice enough. Much better than the later series on Channel 10 with their grey(?) astroturf.

BATTEN down the hatches, the Big Brother storm has officially hit.
The ultimate social experiment is upon us once more, and tonight’s premiere introduces us to this year’s crop of housemates entering the brand spanking new house.
But first, let’s talk about host Sonia Kruger. She’s a vision in pink lace, and there’s a definite hint of her growing baby bump.
“Does this dress make me look fat?” the 49-year-old joked as she stepped onto the stage to welcome the live audience.

Kruger, who is stepping back into her hosting heels for the third season, announced just weeks ago that she is expecting her first child. Talk about a ratings bonanza for Channel 9.
She also informs viewers that they are about to witness a “Big Brother world first”, saying housemates will play in pairs, which will change the game completely.

Brace yourselves, here come the housemates ...

Our first housemate for 2014 is Priya.
What we know: “I am bossy, I love being in control ... I don’t mind whether I’m loved or hated as long as I’m being thought of or talked about.”
Priya also warns that she doesn’t have a filter. We’re annoyed by her already.

'Does this dress make me look fat?': Pregnant Sonia Kruger jokes on Big Brother opening night as she makes bright debut in fluoro pink gown and shows off baby bump
Sonia Kruger swore she wouldn't be wearing kaftans and muumuus to hide her baby bump when Big Brother started, and on opening night she certainly didn't disappoint.
The 49-year-old made a loud statement when she stepped out in a figure-hugging fluoro pink gown to host the first episode of the new series.
With her long, blonde hair tucked up into a messy ponytail, she let her dress do all the talking as she proudly showed off her growing body

Double the fun! Hot blonde female duo revealed as one pair competing in Big Brother 2014 while two male contestants are forced to spend first night in the fish bowl
By Daniel Van Boom for Daily Mail Australia

Published: 22:59 AEST, 8 September 2014 | Updated: 00:53 AEST, 9 September 2014
Big Brother 2014 opened with the announcement that this year's housemates would compete in pairs.

And all the usual suspects were present in the six teams introduced on Monday night's huge season launch - including two blonde stunners, Skye and Lisa, who are sure to cause some trouble.

But the launch party wasn't fun for everyone, as the duo of real estate agent Jason and gym junkie Dion were forced to watch on from the 'fish bowl' - a confined prison room that floats in the Big Brother house's pool.

Blonde and blonder? Big Brother opened with Sonia Kruger announcing this year's show will be played in pairs - with the duo of Skye (L) and Lisa (R), sure to cause trouble

Fireworks incoming? A barista from the Gold Coast, Skye chose Lucy as her team mate, with Sonia revealing to the audience that Big Brother predicts a combustible relationship between the two

1410179733391_Image_galleryImage_Big_Brother_2014_Launch_S.JPG

Not a good start: While five of the six teams had an opportunity to mingle, the duo of Dion (L) and Jason (R) were forced to spend the night in the fish bowl

Other than the bombshell that Big Brother 2014 would be a team competition, host Sonia Kruger also revealed that this year one team will hold power each week - and will be forced to make important decisions, or 'Power Plays.'

First up to hold Head Of House power is the pairing of Priya and Katie, with their first tough decision being having to choose a team to put in the fish bowl while everyone else enjoys a good ol' fashion Big Brother party.

Luckily for them, Jason and Dion took it in their stride - but the power pair's next decision is a much harder one.

Big Brother has made them choose between getting $100 with no strings attached, $1000 and having all contestants go without food for three days, or $10,000 - with no food for a whole week.

'I actually would leave $1000, but do you think anyone would leave 10 grand?,' Priya asked pressingly, adding 'it's each man for himself.'

If they opt for either the $1000 or $10000 option, they and their fellow housemates will sustain themselves of meal replacement shakes - which Katie found decidedly unappetising.

With great power...:Sonia also revealed that this year one team will hold power each week - and will be forced to make important Power Plays. The first Power Players were Katie and Priya

Greed or feed?: Their first decision was which team to put in the fish bowl for the night. Big Brother then made them choose between getting $100, no strings attached, $1000 but having the house go without food for three days, or $10,000 and having the house go without food for a whole week

Tease! Dion and Jason watched on as the housemates got to know one another

Networking: Luckily for the pair, they were able to do some mingling before the Heads Of House made their decision

Jason, 26, and 24-year-old Dion were free from the fish bowl for long enough to create an early awkward moment among contestants.

Minutes into mingling with her fellow housemates, 20-year-old blondie Skye curiously asked '‘I wonder if there’ll be a gay guy in here,' to which Jason raised his hand.

'I just didn't want to ask!,' she said after realising her social faux pas.

A barista from the Gold Coast, Skye was given the choice to team with either Lucy and Travis - opting the former after the latter claimed to dislike girls who cry a lot.

'I cry A LOT, over the stupidest things,' she admitted. All eyes are set to be on the duo, both of which say they're single.

Joining those three teams is the odd couple of Jake, a 25-year-old junior pro tennis player, and Gemma - a nurse who, when given three words, described herself as 'Six. Foot. Six.'

She explained she's got a connective tissue disorder named Marfan Syndrome that's led to her considerable tallness.

But despite the height difference, Gemma and Jake got on extremely well, with the enthusiastic and excitable student mimicking a proposal when Sonia announced the two would be a pair.

Big Brother predicts them to be a bad pairing, but if their first day together is any indication, that may not be the case.

Fun fact: Gemma explained she's got a connective tissue disorder named Marfan Syndrome that's led to her considerable tallness

One of the biggest personalities on the show was Sandra, a 30-year-old retail manager from Wagga Wagga.

She showed an extraordinary penchant for self deprecating humour, joking that 'I was a very ugly child so I had to develop a personality at a young age' - after admitting to reading a lot of erotic fiction.

Sandra was partnered up with Dave, 31, who's a heavily bearded radiologist from Sydney.

And while his Big Brother partner admits to still living with her parents, Dave's little not-so-secret fact about himself is that he's never been in a relationship.

Last but not least to be introduced were the pair of Ryan and Travis.

Travis, a 24-year-old who doesn't look opposed to getting up to mischief, joked that his mum's advice to him before going on the show was 'if you be yourself you’ll probably be out in a week.'

He was teamed up with a fellow fella Ryan, who immediately gave him the nickname 'Travy,' and who admitted he 'doesn't do a lot of dating, but I do a lot of drunk dating.'

There are still four contenders who have yet to enter the house - a magician, an athlete with only one leg, a model and a midwife.

Let Big Brother begin! Housemates are made up of ‘b**ches and d*cks’ as new twists already emerge

DESPITE the fact it feels as though the last Big Brother series only ended last week, here we are. A new series! New housemates! New twists! And the same Big Brother voice and host.
It’s a new series of watching people with questionable morals, do questionable things to other questionable people. Let’s face it, a lot of these people are probably real sh*t people and it’s great they’re on national TV for all of us to see!
Apparently this time we’re in for a storm. Excellent. Regional Australia could do with some rain.

So either there is some cross-promotion going on or Big Brother is only accepting professional dancers as housemates or they genuinely thought those silver painted guys were a good idea. It was just an excuse for Sonia Kruger to show us she can dance. Well kind of dance, she’s pregnant so it’s awkward waddling.

Ooh a world first! What is it!? Oh. They get to play in pairs, big whoop. By the end of the season everyone is hooking up so much anyway they may as well have introduced this years ago.
Our first housemate Priya not only gets “the power” but also has a name similar to a car. That’s probably why she’s “so popular”. Oh wait she just lives in Adelaide, that is probably going to explain a lot about her.
Unapologetically Priya likes attention – good or bad. And she doesn’t have a filter, which is why she signed up for Big Brother.

I wonder if she will be wearing the traditional Indian outfits for the entire season, I’d like just to see some consistency.
Oh Jesus she’s “the head” of the BB house and she gets to pick who her other half is. The two options aren’t great but she has picked Katie. These two are going to get on like a house on fire. I hope they’re literally tied together for the whole time they’re in house.

There is so much fake girl emotion on that stage right now it’s crazy. They’re not happy they’re paired together. They’re already thinking of ways to sabotage each other, you can see it in their fake smiles and laughs.

Wow, the new BB house is modelled off a Miami condo and there is some weird clear tube in the pool. Probably a shark tank where they throw in evicted housemates.
Priya says the iron gate going into the house makes her feel like she is on Game of Thrones. And in a way, it kind of is. One by one the characters will be killed… Evicted… Off the show and there will be only one person worthy of the Iron Throne. Or Golden BB chair.
Katie is already asking BB for champagne. Priorities are in check.

Our next housemate is Jake. He’s a winner who doesn’t like to be picked on. He looks… Fun. He could be a paid actor. No one is this enthusiastic. His shirts are not a joke. He has a collection of bad print shirts. Tonight he is wearing flamingoes. He’s going to match the wallpaper in the BB house.
Jake has chosen a giant for partner. She’s 6”6’ while Jake is left to literally look up to her in all his 4” glory. It is so weird seeing them hold hands and run off together. I feel as though Gemma picking up Jake and giving him a piggy-back would be faster.

I think Jake may actually think his pairing with Gemma will result in love. Jake, any love where you have to get on tippy toes to kiss your soul mate is not worth the strain on your muscles. At least girls can wear heels.
Our two narcissistic girlies get to spy on the other couples entering the house. That’s not creepy.
Bearded David is our next housemate. He manicures his beard, has a commitment-phobia and doesn’t like love. Unless it’s about his “nice smelling beard”. Like, what? Does he smell his beard often? How would be even do that?
199738-827863fa-37a2-11e4-a634-c008c164be37.jpg

David picks Sandra as his pair. Shock horror. She reads exotic novels because she isn’t getting any in real life. My soul is sad for her because Fifty Shades of Grey was the worst book ever.
For the first time tonight, David and Sandra are a good match. Boring. Why would we want a good match?

Our next housie is Dion and Dion looks like a bit of a d*ck. Actually, he is a d*ck. He’s also “straight-edge” which I thought went out in 2007, but apparently not. Lucky for us BB has chosen two of the most opposite people ever to pair with Dion. Dion picks Jason because he probably thinks he’ll hate him a little bit less than Skye.

“What are your first impressions of Dion, Jason?” “Well… He looks… Nice” which actually means he looks like a bit of a d*ck but alas, apparently they’re a good match too.
All the other housemates were hiding in the sauna waiting for Jason and D*c… Sorry Dion. It would have been funnier if the sauna was turned on and they were dying of thirst right now.
Skye is like our like next housemate and like she’s like good in like small doses like but probably not 24/7. Like.
I like hate her already.

Skye makes coffee and eats her feelings. She’s picked Lisa for her partner and she’s a princess pirate. I don’t know what that means but I assume she swears like a sailor.
I can’t wait for Skye Skye and Lisa to rip each other’s hair extensions out. It is only a matter of minutes.
Surely there can’t be too many more housemates. Big Brother has managed to pick every kind of personality in Australia right now. Oh wait, there are two extra people tonight and FOUR tomorrow. FOUR. ARE YOU SERIOUS BB. WHO? WHO COULD YOU HAVE POSSIBLY FOUND! ?

Ryan has entered the Big Brother House. Picture: Adam Head Source: News Corp Australia
Priya compares Skye to Dolly Parton. It could be a compliment or an insult.
BB has an Italian stallion this year in Travis. He brings girls home to his mum’s house. Travis is a real winner. And by that, I mean not.
Travis doesn’t get to pick his pair and gets tied to Ryan. Ryan “drunk dates” and by that I think he means he also brings girls home to his mum’s house like Travis does.
Priya and Kate have to choose a couple to feed to the sharks first, meaning the “fishbowl” in the pool isn’t just for evicted pairs!
199837-3ca1d6f2-37a4-11e4-a634-c008c164be37.jpg

Inside the Big Brother house. Picture: Channel 9 Source: Channel 9
They choose Dion and Jason to die first while the other housemates carry on with champagne and good food. Dion and Jason are only a distant memory to others now. They had a good life.
Big Brother has just put 20K in front of Priya and Katie. There’s a catch as always and the girls have to decide whether to deprive the house of food for a week for $10,000 each.

Priya is trying to talk Katie into taking the money. Priya is a b*tch. Clearly she has never lived on meal replacement shakes for a week. Although maybe she wants to go on a diet and taking the cash helps her achieve her weight loss goals.
There’s a divorcee, a magician, a world record holder Olympian and a PT going to enter the house tomorrow. And now we have to wait until then or that car crash to unfold.

Wagga woman Sandra Nixon is in the 2014 Big Brother house

FOR a third time, Big Brother fever has struck Wagga.
Last night Sandra Nixon, 30, was announced as one of the housemates in the 2014 series.
Best known for her sporting prowess with softball club Kooringal, the bubbly blonde was working as a manager at Wagga’s Bonds store before entering the competition.

“Throughout my degrees, I also poured thousands of schooners, fitted many bras in an iconic lingerie store and took abuse at a phone company.” - Big Brother 2014 contestant, Wagga's Sandra Nixon.

Sandra follows in the footsteps of Greg and David Mathew, who entered the house in 2005, and Sarah Wentworth-Perry, who competed in 2012.
The twins competed as one person under the name “Logan” and eventually took home the major prize of $836,000.
Sandra studied psychology, arts and physiotherapy at university before moving to the Gold Coast.

“I have finally unsubscribed from the theory university degree equals success,” Sandra said in an interview before entering the show’s lock down.

The winner will be announced on November 26.

Big Brother contestant Jake Richardson is real-life housemate of last year’s winner, Tim Dormer

ONE of the Big Brother contestants firming as an early favourite to win the new series is the real-life housemate of last year’s winner, Tim Dormer.
Jake Richardson bounded in to the Gold Coast house last night, and was sold as a former professional tennis player who lives in Brisbane.
In reality, he spent several months sharing a Bondi Beach apartment with Tim after relocating to Sydney earlier this year.
EARLIER: Tim Dormer says 2014 housemates ‘most competitive and outspoken ever’
The 25-year-old, who is studying property economics, auditioned for Big Brother while still living in Brisbane and before the association with Tim was formed, Channel Nine says.

Big Brother executive producer Alex Mavrodaikis insisted everything was above board and pointed out that Jake had auditioned twice previously in 2012 and 2013.
“We cast him (this year) before we knew he lived with Tim but regardless, we cast housemates on their own merits, not their associations,” Mavrodaikis said.

“If anything, it is a disadvantage as Jake is already being compared to last year’s winner — big boots to fill.”
Despite today’s admission from show makers, Jake was still sold as a Brisbane resident when viewers met him during last night’s launch show, which was a strong ratings performer.
Some fans are crying foul over the discovery, questioning the fairness of such a close connection to a former winner and a casual Nine employee.

Big Brother unveiled a swag of hopefuls but all eyes are on one yet-to-be-seen housemate

FORGET the wacky, hipster, bossy and bitchy housemates who entered their new Big Brother digs on the Gold Coast for the next few months. Pffft.
The back-to-front-baseball-cap, self-anointed Italian Stallion Travis, has nothing on one other very important cast member: Sonia’s Bump.
All eyes were on, and will continue to be on the burgeoning belly of Big Brother host Sonia Kruger, who announced two weeks ago she is pregnant with her first child.

Sonia, who turned 49 last week, was a picture of good health as she and her show stylist, Annabel von Tongeren, chose Adelaide designer Paolo Sebastian, to unveil a first ‘glam’ look featuring her pregnancy glow.
Paolo created a long, hot pink dress with lace panels down the sides and paired the gown with jewellery from Elizabeth Jean and mega high heels (always a Sonia fave) from Stuart Weitzman.
“We’ve had lots of designers inquiring about how they can ‘dress’ Sonia particularly at this special time but Sonia and her stylist Annabel and hair and make-up artist Mia Hawkswell will sort it all out,’’ said a Big Brother spokesman.

“Considering Sonia will be 35 weeks along by the finish of the show, it will certainly be fantastic to watch her blossom each week.’’
Tonight, Sonia is expected to wearing a gown from J’Aton, a favourite designer of many celebs including Dannii Minogue, Delta Goodrem, Megan Gale, Tara Moss and Holly Brisley.
And never fear, we’ll be on Kruger Bump-watch throughout the season.
