@Timdormer said it was $500 a week. And they even only paid Ben $250 for the week he was evicted mid week.

I don't think I'm actually allowed to say this, but yes I received $500/wk while I was on the show, it didn't continue afterwards. Ben tells a funny story of actually receiving only $250 the week he was evicted midweek, which we laugh at being very stindgy! I've heard rumours that the housemate allowance was a lot higher back in the day, and that in some cases certain housemates were actually paid higher than others.

'Cool' teacher-comedian Priya Malik makes it to Big Brother Australia
Vishakha Saxena, Hindustan Times New Delhi, September 10, 2014 -

Dubbed 'Posh Spice' of the house, Indian-origin comedian Priya Malik has been making waves in Big Brother Australia 2014.

Priya Malik Comedy Spot at Cranker Comedy Adelaide

The 27-year-old, a "cool" teacher, according to her family members, was born and brought up in Dehradun and got her English Honors degree from Venky's at Delhi Unoversity. "Smart" and an "A-grade student", Priya studied Master of Teaching (Middle and Secondary) at Uni SA and was teaching at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH) College, before she made her way to the show.

She is also part of the South Australian Writers Centre and participates in the 'Quick & Dirty' sessions which "features snapshots of new work by writers focusing on a different theme each month." Priya has also been writing poetry and prose from a young age and was South Australia State Finalist for the Australian Poetry Slam in September 2013.

She is, however, more popular as a comedian and made her way to 'Adelaide Comedy' a platform that "brings the world’s funniest stand up comedians" together. Her move to comedy came about when a student of hers told her, "Miss, you're funny. I'll pay to watch you."Priya's funny side is pretty apparent in the official promo video where she's heard saying "my butter chicken brings all the boys to the yard.

According to her husband Bhushan, 36, Priya's stint at Big Brother came about after a bunch of her friends kept insisting that she should participate in Big Brother or Bigg Boss in India. She was nominated by someone (the couple doesn't know who) and she was subsequently called for an interview. For Priya, her Twitter followers have been a big positive too as she has been one the most popular candidates on social media. Though her account is blocked now, viewers have been tweeting about her using #PriyaBBAU.

She has been nominated as the 'head of the house' and, as Bhushan says, is doing well for herself. People, however think she's been given a "villain's role"."She's animated and more importantly, she's being herself. You need to watch the show to know her better," adds the proud husband.Expected to be the 'firecracker' this year, Priya is living her dream in the Big Brother house, as she always wanted to be on television. Her sentiment resonates in the promo where she says "I don't mind whether I'm loved or hated as long as I'm being talked about."Priya has been locked down since August 31 and the series is being aired from September 7. In the episode that aired on Spetember 9, Priya was seen using 'reverse psychology' on her partner to win a task worth $10,000 each.

Indian viewers can watch the show on YoutTube. On concerns of racism that stem from an ugly episode between Shilpa Shetty and Jade Goody in the UK version of Big Brother in 2005, Bhushan said "I know she is there to win let's hope that something like Shilpa Shetty doesn't happen." Shetty went on to win the series which was shrouded in controversy and attracted the largest ever complaints to the UK broadcasting watchdog Ofcom, raising concerns of bullying. Bhushan, however, thinks that Priya has nothing to worry about, yet. "She's living her dream and I'm supportive of her in each and ever way."

With his bubby and flamboyant personality, Big Brother’s Jason is rarely seen without a smile on his face.

But the 26-year-old real estate agent showed his more emotional side on Wednesday when he opened up about his sexuality and his story of coming out to his family and friends.

‘When I told my parents the relationship went downhill,’ the Canberra based auctioneer revealed of the moment he told his parents he is gay.

Emotional: For the 26-year-old real estate agent, it was tough to talk about his challenging experiences

‘I knew I was gay at 14 or 15,’ he said, revealing it wasn’t until he was 20 that he decided to share his news with his close friends.

While his friends were supportive of his sexuality, it was a different story with his parents.

‘It went downhill,’ Jason told his housemates, adding ‘it was never spoken of and I moved out of home.’

Unquestionably a sensitive topic for the dark-haired contestant, it wasn’t long before he shed a few tears.

Explaining the reason he finally came out was due to being in a relationship at the time, Jason also told the group that ‘the rest of the extended family don’t want to know about it.’

‘I know I’m very cheerful on the outside but it’s hard,’ he continued.

All housemates were very supportive of Jason, with housemate partner Dion moving to sit next to Jason while he candidly opened up.

Jason’s revelations came during a special ‘Headline’ game session where housemates took turns at explaining what headline would describe their lives.

For fellow dark-haired stud Jake, it was a career change that has been a massive personal highlight.

'For 15 years of my life I trained to be a professional tennis player,' he said, before revealing he knew it was time for a change when his passion for the sport translated to a fixation on money.

Single and ready to mingle: Blonde beauty Cat revealed she was married and after a divorce is now available

He's keen: Graphic designer Ryan was quick to cheekily ask Cat if she was on the rebound

The 25-year-old from Brisbane is now studying a Bachelor of Design and has a passion for writing.

Meanwhile newcomer Aisha from Sydney revealed a past life she led as a sassy WAG.

The 22-year-old who fronts nightclub doors said she made the decision to move overseas at the age of 19 with her then boyfriend so he could pursue a professional rugby career.

'You get pushed into a lifestyle,' the brunette beauty said, explaining life as a WAG was not her forte.

Blonde bombshells Skye and Lisa certainly didn't fail to impress with some killer headlines describing their loud personalities.

WAG life: Newcomer Aisha revealed she moved overseas three years ago so her boyfriend at the time could pursue a professional rugby career

'Fake it till you make it,' was 20-year-old Skye's catchy headline of choice, saying she often projects a very 'intelligent' persona even if she isn't as clued in as she seems.

Meawhile 29-year-old Lisa from Sydney revealed that while she works in the fast paced world of fashion, she has also managed a strip joint.

Deciding to put on her sultry voice and demonstrate how she MC's at stripping venues, it wasn't long before Lisa had the male housemates' hearts racing.

And while it's early days there could be some romance in the air already.

When 31-year-old accountant turned midwife Cat revealed 'I used to be married and I'm single now', it sparked a certain cheeky response from 26-year-old Ryan.

Pressure is on: Katie and her partner Priya were nervous in the lead up to dropping their power play bombshell, with other housemates noticing their shifty behaviour

Decision time: Katie sported a pouch filled with $10,000 that she and Priya each received when they chose the cash over meals for a week

'Looking for a rebound?' the graphic designer asked the blonde beauty with a sheepish grin.

Big Brother has promised massive power plays this year and the storm got a little stronger when Heads Of House Priya and Katie dropped their latest bombshell.

Big Brother made them choose between getting $100 with no strings attached, $1000 and having all contestants go without food for three days, or $10,000 - with no food for a whole week.

Eventually the pair came to a decision, with the $10000 proving to be too tempting to resist.

It was time for the feisty pair to tell the housemates what they had decided.

Explaining the cash would help clear their debts, Priya and Katie informed the housemates they would be on meal replacement shakes for a week.

This is it: Priya and Katie had to tell their housemates what they were in for

1410357777085_wps_33_Big_Brother_2014_2nd_Laun.jpg

Shocked: Jason and Dion's faces initially dropped when they heard they would be on meal replacement shakes for a week

Surprisingly the contestants were supportive of the female pair, saying they would have done the same thing if they were in that situation.

When Big Brother’s diner opened later that night with a selection of desserts on offer to the housemates, it was a tempting opportunity for Priya and Katie to splash their cash on some food for the housemates.

But the duo resisted the temptation and alas, the housemates shall remain on meal replacement shakes for the meantime.

Understanding: The housemates surprisingly reacted quite positively to the power play, saying they would have done the same if they were in that situation

1410357679168_wps_27_Big_Brother_2014_2nd_Laun.jpg

Disciplined: Big Brother's diner was opened later in the night, but with Katie and Priya not giving up their money for food, the housemates are still in for more shakes

I would blame the lack of cross media and social media to drive excitement.

As I said, if it wasn't for this forum I would not be watching everynight.

There's nothing else pushing me. Nothing to make me go, 'oh i want to see this' or to remind me, or spark my intersts.

Jaime Wright has her claws out for former bestie Lisa Clark unleashing on Twitter about new Big Brother

The decade-long friendship between former Sydney party girl Jaime Wright and burgeoning Big Brother starlet Lisa Clark has hit stormy waters with Wright letting fly on social media about the show.

533117-0c5a2050-38d8-11e4-8c2d-d7bb5a31a70d.jpg

Wright, who once had the dubious honour of being anointed the face of a Sydney beer, could barely suppress herself when she posted her views to Twitter following the program’s premiere on Monday night: “Just a bunch of wannabe try hard fame whores to me! What a brain numbing show BORING !!”

The outburst prompted friends of Clark to query whether the women’s friendship had collapsed after Clark was cast on the program, revealed exclusively by Confidential last month.

Clark’s 2014 Big Brother call-up has seen her profile elevated over that of Wright’s, a Sydney model who reinvented herself as a shoe designer.
Clark’s loyal friends yesterday said this looks to have created issues between the two B list celebrities, although with Clark now in lockdown in the Big Brother house it’s unlikely she is aware her former best mate is posting negative comments about her star vehicle.
As Clark emerges as a fashion-focused ex shopgirl turned fashion PA, sources have shed more light on her past.
The Penrith native and former girlfriend of Sydney nightclub impresario John Ibrahim who approached her when she was a 17-year-old schoolgirl.
“She fell deeply in love with him,” an insider said.
The relationship — which others claim looked somewhat different from Ibrahim’s side — “she was known as Miss Weekday or something — ended when Ibrahim met a new 17-year-old schoolgirl.
That schoolgirl was Chelsea Mitchell from an exclusive eastern suburbs school who later moved in with Ibrahim at his Dover Heights mansion.

Big Brother 'deletes' gay brother's reply

By Darren Cartwright, National TV Writer, AAPUpdated September 11, 2014, 4:45 pm

An attempt by the brother of gay Big Brother housemate Jason to explain that the family supports him was deleted from the show's official Facebook page.
Jason revealed on Wednesday's episode how coming out fractured his close relationship with his parents and his extended family have shunned him.
"I was quite close to them (my parents), but that's kind of when ... the relationship went downhill," Jason told the 15 other housemates on the Nine Network reality TV series.
"The rest of the extended family don't want to know about, and don't talk about, it."
Jason's brother, Jonathan Roses, took to the Big Brother Facebook page after Wednesday's episode to explain his family's side of the story.
Big Brother executive producer Karen Dewy says a post was originally hidden by Facebook's filter.
"One of Jonathon's comments was hidden by Facebook filters and then Nine moderators allowed it to appear," Dewey wrote in an email to AAP.
"The same comment was then manually removed by our moderators when it was posted a second time."
Roses had said his parents loved Jason and, while it had been a tough time for everyone, the family was behind him going in to the Big Brother house.
"Hi everyone, I'm Jason's brother, and I would just like to say that my parents love Jason," he wrote.
"A 2 minute description on tv will never do the story justice.
"It was certainly a tough journey, but we support him 100%, and my mum in particular has been the most actively supportive person behind his big brother push.
"There was no turning of backs, no disowning, we love him and support him for who he is. Thanks for reading. And please continue to support my brother," Roses wrote.
However, the post, which was first revealed on the Behind Big Brother website, was deleted and Roses then asked why his reply to Jason's story about coming out was removed.
"Can I ask why you deleted my comment about my brother and how my family loves and supports him?," Roses wrote on the Big Brother Facebook page.
"They deleted my comment everyone."
These comments were also deleted.
A Nine moderator of the Big Brother responded to Roses by saying his posts were not in keeping with the site's guidelines and "repeated behaviour may result in people getting banned."
Since then Roses Facebook page has mysteriously disappeared.
Roses has been contacted for comment.

More on the real Lisa Front - this may be a repost, but....

Former Sam Burgess flame Lisa Clark a hot tip to take her place in the Big Brother household
077699-1fe13522-1f7f-11e4-bee2-80d82dcd29df.jpg

CONFIDENTIAL has uncovered a frontrunner thought to be among the favourites entering the Big Brother house in coming months.

Pretty blonde eastern suburbs retail worker Lisa Clark is said to have impressed in early auditions before the Nine network cameras.

She also has some impressive history off camera.

Our sources say the former real estate agent was a one-time girlfriend of South Sydney star Sam Burgess and a favourite of Kings Cross maverick John Ibrahim.

Sources say that Clark, aged in her early 30s, has been eagerly chipping away at a television career for some time.

She is said to have recorded a pilot in LA for a show following her stint in real estate, but it never got off the ground.

According to her friends, Clark, who socialises with the one-time face of Bondi Blonde beer Jaime Wright, would be the perfect fit for Big Brother.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Lisa has been selected to go on Big Brother, she is totally the type of girl that would do that,” a source who chose to remain unnamed said.

“She is a really sweet girl ... I don’t know how she would go on the show.

“Some people will like her but she also might be polarising.”

When Confidential asked Nine for comment on the Big Brother recruit, a spokeswoman said: “We won’t make any comment, but since none of the potential housemates are in lockdown yet, if you identify anyone they definitely won’t make it on to the show.

“Up to you if you choose to run anything.”

Big Brother Australia will screen on Nine in the second half of the year.

Last year’s show, won by Tim Dormer, rated strongly for the network.
