There will also be a new show on Monday nights where host Sonia Kruger will talk to contestants’ families about the house drama.

Psychologists will also be brought on to chat if things get a little too real.

Since Psychologists and Psychiatrists are by definition "a little bit off" and trying to find their own identity (or they would have a real job and identity) then how can they help someone who is having problems in the house??

Well of course there's going to be a gay person there. It wouldn't be a true Big Brother if you didn't have at least one gay person in the house. They play some of the best social games.

According to this article there will be nominations straight after evictions, the Sunday night show will involve choosing a new ‘house leader’, and on Mondays we get a bit more insight into the HMs via friends and family (and possibly Psychologists).

Nominations just got a lot more stressful

Nominations will now be done straight after evictions, meaning housemates will be kept up to the early hours of the morning while deciding who they’d like to nominate as tribute. Between lack of sleep and the stress of watching someone leave we’re hoping for some juicy nominations.

There will be a hierarchy

Each week there will be a house leader who will hold the ultimate power, and it’s the viewers who get to select that person. The house leader will run the house budget and do the shopping, which will probably cause a lot of problems as everyone will be shouting out what they want and obviously in the Big Brother house there’s no paper for them to write anything down. There will also be a new Sunday night show that will chronicle the changing of the guard as a new house leader is elected.

Family and friends will play a bigger role

If I was 50 years older and lacking in bladder control I would have wet myself in excitement reading this!!! Can't wait!!!!!

I know there are a few members on this forum who have been crying out for an attractive gay housemate since the show has returned to 9. I think they will just about lose it if the gay housemate is not attractive this year:D That is presuming that the gay housemate is a male btw.

As good as that sounds, including evictions, it will be at the expense of almost all of the footage from Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. :(

That article also states this:

The majority of the housemates are single but there is one married person, one divorced person, two in a relationships and one gay person.

Hmm, sounds interesting..

We are getting a hour show on Sundays at 9.00pm. That should have the weekend footage on it.

Oh yeah! oh yeah! Woo hoo!! Love the Psychologist element of Big Brother. Will be a great insight behind the housemates actions. Thanks Alex and Big Brother people!

If Alex M has proven anything over the last two years, he will happily sacrifice time that could, and should, be used for weekend content and instead dedicate it to the power housemate. Unfortunately.

The storm is about to hit and there's been all sorts of information flying around. We've made things simple for you: here's the Big Brother 2014 Essential Guide, to get you up to speed before Launch night on Monday!

When it’s on:
Big Brother lights up our screens this MONDAY, after The Block on Nine!

What we can expect: Along with an amazing bunch of fresh new Housemates, we can expect some sort of twist involving Housemates having Power. What that means is still wrapped up in Big Brother’s secret web – but BB himself told us he’s “spent 12 months plotting in his garage … to come up with one of his most audacious plans ever.”

Playing along at home: For the first time EVER, the Big Brother website will feature a dynamic live environment that will highlight the biggest and best parts of the show… plus LOADS more. Make sure you hit the homepage on Launch night (and every night following) to have a truly awesome fan experience. When Big Brother’s on your TV, it’s time for you to playalong via whatever screen you prefer!

What the Housemates will be doing: Tasks determine what the Housemates eat… and consequently how happy they are! This year, they will be truly pushed to their limits and that will have far-reaching consequences. ‘The Tasks are going to steer [the Housemates] into getting advantages; to show us how clever they are; how much they’ve been observing what’s going on in the House. And those Housemates who pick up on a few of those clues are going to get an easier ride in the Tasks this year,’ reveals Jack Kain, the man who leads the Big Brother Tasks team.

What Sonia will be wearing: Of course, we can expect the stunning Ms Kruger to be wearing all sorts of dazzling creations, but this year, she’ll also be donning maternity wear a la Sonia! That’s right, Sonia’s having a baby!

The House is sexy: The Block judges are impressed (although Shaynna did NOT mention storage when she was checking it out), dubbing the two-story glam house “amazing”. It is certainly grand – with extra rooms, a stunning pool and ‘Muscle Beach’ gym, which should make at least some of the Housemates happy!

Who are our Housemates? Well, you’ll have to watch (and let us know what you think right here!) on Monday night to meet all our new Housemates, but if you’re desperate to get clued up on some newcomers now, then check out the sneak peeks of FIVE of our new residents! We know we’ve got Posh Spice, the Gym Junkie, the Fiery Redhead, a Magic Man and Katie Cupcake… who will join them? You’ll have to wait and see!

… And what are they doing now? Right now, the Housemates are sweating it out in Lockdown… and watching a lot of Breaking Bad from the sounds of things! Read all about the Lockdown experience here!

Now you’ve got the lowdown on the most explosive Launch about to hit our screens, be sure to watch on Channel 9 and check in online, this Monday after The Block!

This is the only thread I have allowed myself to look in before tonight's launch. I'm scared of spoilers and I usually love spoilers.. I want tonight to be a total surprise. Arghhhhh I'm excited!

Big Brother 2014's Queensland contestants 'massive contenders'

The Big Brother puppet master believes 2014 could be the year a Queenslander takes home the $250,000 winner's prize.
There has never been a winner from north of the Tweed, despite the show being filmed at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast throughout its 13-year history.
Ahead of Monday night's season's premiere on Channel Nine, executive producer Alex Mavroidakis said the Sunshine State could finally be triumphant.

"Fingers crossed...there are some massive contenders from Queensland this year," he said.

Big Brother's house of shock horrors returns

The main thing to remember with Big Brother is that it's all a 'social experiment'; keep telling yourself that and you'll feel a lot less guilty while watching.
The promos for the new series of Big Brother (Nine, 8.40pm) make use of the story of Noah's Ark as a metaphor for the BB house, which is quite apt, given it is a story about a group of wild animals being placed in a confined space while the world ends.
Of course, the story ends with God promising never again to drown humanity with a global flood: I fear that at the end of this series, we cannot hope that Sonia Kruger will promise to never again immerse us in Big Brother.

The main thing to remember, though, is that it's all a 'social experiment'.
What do we know about Big Brother 2014? Well, we know that it will feature people in a house, much like every other year.

Sometimes the simplest premises are the best: the beauty of Big Brother is that it's just ordinary people living together.
