Saturday Showdown Shelly Craft, Mike G & Michael

id say its not a cost issue, but more that it gains no real benefit for ch9, they get way more from tv advertising than they would online so why show people whats happening live, and not force them to watch the ads on tv, the more viewers the more they can charge for ads.
as much as id love it, realistically its just not happening.

I disagree... The live feed is simply a means to get people talking about the show... You're right that NINE make more money from selling TV advertisements... However one cannot watch the live feed 24/7 and with sound dips and blackouts watching the daily highlights is still necessary... I mean events in the BBUS house often happen well before they are aired and it has never really impacted the ratings for the broadcast show... If anything ratings will be much lower without the live feed... If used properly the live feed should actually drive viewers to the highlights on NINE...

I don't believe for a moment that it has anything to do with money/advertising and more to do with a desire to avoid controversy and a lack of understanding of what the live feed can actually do for the show...

I hope this is true! I just really wanna see more extra content this year...maybe a late night show haha

Goon has already said there will be no live feed again this year... A late night live streaming show seems out of the question... Also NINE still seem committed to keep the show in the family friendly market so a late night adults only show also seems out of the question...

You know, because our children could be up to watch the adult show at 10:30 at night....stupid PC parents ruining it for everyone.

Well it's also not as if our children can't access websites with much more extreme content on their laptops, phones, or at Jimmy's house when his parents aren't around...

The whole argument is extremely silly... The turkey slap happened as a result of the culture the producers tried to build around the show and the caliber of the people they cast... The aftermath was also blown way out of proportion and should never have been allowed to get to that point...

When Mandy said "I hope this is true", I think he/she was referring to the Big brother Game Show, not the live feed.

With a new Game Show returning and the likelihood of a few "older" housemates this year, we can only hope the games that the producers create are fair for everyone and not all physical challenges that the 20-30 year old Male dominates.

How about a family feud style game show with questions asked on the web site or facebook.......something that engages both fans and contestants but isn't , as others have said, just a game for the young and fit.......it's possible that at some point someone with a physical disability will get in!

Could very well be this year.

Anyone else thinking this will just be a pre-recorded voice over show (like Big Brother Confidential last year) with Big Brother setting challenges up (not as big as Friday Night Live, maybe in a different area to the house instead of the backyard) and then they get to spend a night in the Captain's Quarters (whatever they call it this year...) but attach it to the Thursday daily show?

I was hoping it would be a live show hosted by someone. (Mike Goldman or anyone else?)

Yup. It had better NOT be like the captain's challenge from last year, slotted into a daily show. pfft

Sounds good, but this does breach one of the core rules of the Big Brother format - no contact with the outside world. The only way around not breaching said rule would be to compile questions before launch night. BB Little Sister (the tv show) irked me to no end last year due to the fact that the entire show broke this same core rule. Not to mention it was boring and far from live.

I don't want the FNG .

I just want to see the interactions of the HMs in the house, that's all.

I want more daily show. Last year there was not enough coverage of what was happening in the house, it was just to hard to relate to the HMs.

Channel 9 favourite Shelley Craft to reintroduce a weekly showdown games night.

She will host Saturday Showdown for the first four weeks of Big Brother, which starts on Monday, July 29.

Saturday Showdown, with Mike Goldman and Michael Beveridge.

Housemates will compete for riches and favour.

Its starting to sound a little like HOH.

Previous winners have been rewarded, but never affected their time in the house.

The showdowns will form an integral part of the much-publicised but carefully-guarded Big Brother "twist" which is this season's theme.

2013 will be lucky for some, but hints that the twist will be all about deprivation and reward, haves and have-nots.

When the show launches but from the outset there "will be division in the house, as some will be in and some will be halfway out".

I was kinda really interested, until I read that Michael was involved.

I feel sick. He is by far one of my most hated HM's in the history of this show. I don't know how I'll be able to watch this. :(

EXACTLY THE RICH/POOR THEME WE HAVE ALL BEEN TALKING ABOUT!!!!! Wow!!! And the split house seems close!!
Goon is the house split into two?!

And Shelley... needs a break from TV... She is finishing off the block O.o

Big Brother decides to get crafty by recruiting Channel 9 favourite Shelley Craft

BIG Brother has declared game on for 2013, recruiting Channel 9 favourite Shelley Craft to reintroduce a weekly showdown games night.

Craft, 37, will head straight off The Block: Sky High presenting duties to host Saturday Showdown for the first four weeks of Big Brother, which starts on Monday, July 29.

Saturday Showdown, with commentary and light-hearted analysis from Mike Goldman and Michael Beveridge, will see housemates compete for riches and favour.

Craft is revelling in the chance to join the Big Brother juggernaut and pitch curve balls to contestants: "Results and rewards from the showdown will have something to do with making them feel there's a bit of a hierarchy in the house."

Until now, previous games nights have rewarded winners, but never had outcomes which directly affected their time in the house.

The showdowns will form an integral part of the much-publicised but carefully-guarded Big Brother "twist" which is this season's theme.

Craft admits she has no illusions she'd last as a Big Brother contestant herself.

"Not a chance. I like my own space," she says.

"I'd find it impossible to just get on with my day without wondering who was watching and listening."

With this year's housemates now in lockdown, Big Brother will break his silence this morning, issuing a "statement" long on ambiguity but short on specific detail about the twist.

It says 2013 will be lucky for some, but hints that the twist will be all about deprivation and reward, haves and have-nots.

Viewers will meet 12 housemates when the show launches but from the outset there "will be division in the house, as some will be in and some will be halfway out".

Big Brother poses the question: "What is it like to live on handouts from the wealthy? Big Brother has decided it's time to find out."

But just not on Friday, right? (Nine Friday Night Football)

Maybe Monday for Evictions, Tuesday for Nominations, Wednesday or Thursday for "FNL 2.0" with the remaining Thursday/Wednesday for Confidential/etc (and here's hoping Confidential isn't dressed up as a magazine show this year - if it returns at all!).

you dont think the title "saturday showdown" gives away the night fnl 2.0 is on and what its called...? :P

The thread title was only changed in the last hour or two whereas I posted that over 2 weeks ago ;)
