Things You Hate & Stuff That Annoys You...

Drivers, how annoying are they? Well that's nothing new. But I had 2 truly annoying people today.

1. I was crossing the street on a green man with another woman and collectively we had 4 young girls and a baby in a pram. This guy was turning and was impatient and came right up to the crossing and repeatedly beeped at us. We made it across before the red dude was even flashing, this jerk really needed to cool his jets. One of the little girls started crying as she was scared, completely unnecessary.

2. I was piling some of the above kids + baby into my car and this isn't exactly a quick process with all the car seats and whatnot. Someone wanted my spot and asked if I was leaving, I said I was but warned them that I would be a little while so it was up to them. They seemed ok to wait but I was obviously not quick enough as they started asking me if I could hurry up and yelled that they could have parked elsewhere by now and actually started getting angry at me! Umm? Not really my problem. I was not purposely dragging the process out nor do I enjoy how long it takes, but seriously, wait or don't wait but don't freaking yell at me!

Mom and I had this problem the other day,guy behind us was hooting at us to kill ourselves by going over a robot into oncoming traffic.
We got him back by driving really slowly after we were over

Grr Real estate Agents - Have been model tenants for seven years at the same house - never any complaints or issues regarding us or the house at inspections, rent always paid on time.

How do we get rewarded. The fuckers want to charge us 20% of the cost to repaint the house and resurface the benchtops. No maintenance has been done for 8 years on the house (since it was built). It was built with cheap paint and benchtops that mark if a loaf of bread is left on it. But the marks we have left are minimal and well within the realms of normal wear and tear. We spent 2 days cleaning the place, including 2 hours scrubbing the benchtops to get the marks off best we could, and sugar-soaping all the walls, but she still is going to charge us for a cleaner as we missed a couple of dead flies, and dust settled in the house in the week it took her to do the inspection from the day we moved out.

She also tried to tell us that the landlord will pay 80% leaving us with 30% (WFT??) then told an amount that is actually 43%.

Has anyone ever heard of tenants being charged for house maintenance?

that doesnt seem right at all ... that surely should come under normal wear and tear

you could try calling Fair Trading if you are in NSW or contacting tenants union for advice

think you can be expected to leave the place as close to how it was when you first moved in allowing for normal wear and tear ... you surely shouldnt be expected to contribute to the owners upgrade between tenancies which is what it sounds like they are trying on

good luck

Did you do a property report when you first moved in? Also, the fact you've been there for 8 years with no maintenance.. pfft.. cheeky arseholes.

I had something similar happen to me years ago when I was renting. I called up Citizens Advice and they actually told me what to write in my letter to the owner, including all the clauses etc. Could be worth giving them a call too. Not sure what state you are in but Google them & get as much information as you can from them. I highly doubt though that after 8 years they can take any money from your bond. They will have to take it to a tribunal & no judge in their right mind will agree with them after 8 years with no maintenance on their side.

Get yourself informed & make sure all communication between you is either email or text so you have a record of it all. Don't let them bamboozle you into agreeing. What they are doing is wrong and they probably know it. Most real estates will try anything to keep either part of or all of your bond.

The outcome of mine was, after sending the email with all the information that citizens advice gave me, next week I had a cheque in the mail. Make it as bastard difficult for them as possible.

Good luck with it & don't let them bully you.

Thanks. It is really good to see other people thinking like we do. We will be digging our toes in and fighting this. We have agreed to paying for a cleaner as we cop there are a couple of things we ran out of time and energy to do (and the vacuum cleaner conked out after accidentally trying to vacuum up the mop!!) But it is not a lot of cleaning to do. We did do a property report, and I still have all the paperwork, so we will be going through it all this weekend.

Good on you. I wish you every success!! x

Is it alot of $s? Is it worth your time to fight it? Not saying you should walk away from it, but is it going to be worth the fight? I have no idea how much your bond would be.

That is such a rort, to do this after 8 years!!!! Very wrong and greedy. I bet the rent you paid had paid off half the landlords mortgage, oh and had a tax advantage of negative gearing!

close to $2000, plus the $600 they overcharged for the last months rent and not paid back. - It is the principle of the matter though too - these agencies think they can get away with this shit way too much

People who 'like' their own posts on Facebook and Twitter. WTF is wrong with you? You posted it, of course you fucking like it! Or are you so desperate for likes you have to like your own posts to validate yourself?

I fail to understand why Facebook and Twitter even give you the like button on your own posts. It's completely redundant.

people who don't get out of the way of emergency vehicles or who are slow to react to them. basically people who have such poor situational awareness on the road that you are afraid to drive anywhere near them.

I've had four scammers call today, two within the last half hour.
grrr! I have started making it a mission to see if I can bamboozle them enough that they hang up on me - I have a success rate of about 70% i think!
