The Block-Art deco building

I love it when the so called expect judges rip into a couple most of the season & give them shit scores & the couple go onto win The Block.

Chantelle & Steve, Dee & Darren to name just 2 couples.
To be fair though, Steve & Chantelle only won because they went last in the auction. Within a day of the finale, the new owners had told the media they only brought it for the location (and it was the last one available) and that they planned to basically tear the whole thing down and start again.

Most of the buyers redo the renos & buy for the location.

That's why we won't be seeing houses being renovated.

Most don't go to the media and say they hate it and are tearing it all down. I'm sure most retain some of it and only change what they don't like.

Chantelle & Steve were a no brainer, they had the best apartment with city views..
they would probably win if they put a half empty apartment up for auction.

Ok Tonights episode: Art Deco..echoe..echoe
spoilert.

I think the term "art deco" was said over 100 times in tonights episode.
We learned about the "nibler" that nibles those huge concrete walls, and
apparently more bad lack for "oldies who cant focus camera because we
want to show how old they are" the nibbler just nibbled a supporting beam.
so the girls have to take a wall, the boys have to take the vault door,
the ground floor had to take supports for the 2 ton nibbler, and it seems
Drama Dan might just top the troublemakers scale over the Double D's, and
its just week 2.
A paid-trady weekly prize is introduced to the cleanest/safest team space.
We have no idea what criteria, or points, or violations went into awarding
this huge prize to a team (plumber said to be worth 6000 given to boys).

Bottom line: the block seems disorganized this year, maybe its the size, or
the editing. or too much focus on dan and carleen. cant put a finger, but
blocktagon seemed much more coherant.

Is anything being done that resembles art deco or is the usual style being employed? I can't be bothered to watch at this point.

Despite purchasing the home in November last year, Sam announced the couple's purchase two months later - January 2016.

The moved into the three-bedroom home six months later along with Snezana's 11-year-old daughter, Eve.

During an interview with news.com.au in February, the couple said they hadn't set a date for the move as it was dependent on Eve's schooling.

So Sasha and Julia are already loaded, they don't need to win The Block.

I wish the press would get over "LESBIAN COUPLE". They are a couple, just like any couple. To The Block's credit, they don't seem to be harping on about it as part of that couple's story.

Is anything being done that resembles art deco or is the usual style being employed? I can't be bothered to watch at this point.

Only the older couple (Dan & Carleen) have done anything overtly art deco yet and they got the lowest score for their trouble. Admittedly they didn't finish the room. A couple of others teams apparently had art deco influences/touches which seems to be judge speak for 'they had black in the room'.

Not a fan of Dan,treats the other contestants like kids ...they are adults and I don't believe for one minute they don't know anything about technology

I parked outside one of the houses in Richmond today. A couple of them are looking a bit ordinary five years on. One of them is up for sale and gets $900 a week in rent. There is grass growing out of the guttering, the timber is looking tired and the one for sale looks decidedly unfinished down the side. I noticed that in the glass above the front doors is the Nine logo of nine dots etched into the glass.

...and conveniently there has been zero mention of them having any sort of renovation experience on the show - just the fact that one of them is a stylist. They've even falsely claimed that they have no idea what they're doing when it comes to renovations... Producer's favourite to win perhaps?

After yesterdays "wall gate" where they basically debated a whole episode's worth
what to do with a dividing wall between the guest bedroom and wardrobe,
they really dont seem to be that confident as experienced "stylists" (interior designers?)
Oh no, youll see open wardrobe from the bed! what a sin that is. for humanity even since
cavemen, would not allow such a crime.
caveman: lets place the animal skins bed there.
cavewomen: you crazy? I can see the giraffe-bones self assembly shelves from the bed!

Ka-ching!

Block's five en suite bathrooms bills add up to over 200k, over 40k for all
couples. With sashulia money-raining 65,000 to block records. on a bathroom.
They may get 15k off, they think. Scotty thinks 5k. that will still be 25% of budget
blown week one. on a bathroom. those gold taps..

Wall gate continues. sashulia are "visual people" - most often that means
people who change their minds 11 times depending on what they see the others

3 "diamond" cut out rotated squares, which look to me more 80's motel.
Shelly warns the boys - only two matching side tables this year, not one.
phew, one style crisis avoided.

Geez, I'm considering buying a rooftop apartment, demolishing and rebuilding *and* furnishing the whole place for under $65k. But this isnt Melbourne and I can't afford gold taps.
