Granted towards the end of its run on Ch10, yeah BBAU did get kinda gimmicky with some of the intrusive commercial tie-ins on the show but IMO it was no where near as bad as Ch 9. Season 1 to 5 on Ch 10 were pretty good in that regard, there was very little interference from the producers and left the hms pretty much to their own devices for the majority of the time.

Looking back on it the gimmicks/twists introduced to spruce up the show from Season 6 to 8 were in 'good' taste and showed considerable amount of restraint (not as blatant and frequent) in comparison to the shameless constant bombardment of promotions and twists the f^ckwits from Ch 9 thought were necessary to hold the viewers attention.

Chubby Checker himself would have been proud of the number of "twists" that Ch 9 had.

Stan, anyone? AU netflix? Might not have the cash after a disastrous startup; but keep the pressure on, and redirect to non-traditional content delivery -- we could have a chance, with Stan. (Ps, I watch Netflix; but if BBAU dropped into Stan's schedule - i'd be there.)

A show like BB would not work on Netflix or a stand alone website...

How do you know that?

Because of the nature of Netflix business and the way a show like BB operates... The two just are not compatible... It's the same reason you really don't see BB on DVD... BB is a show that is best viewed LIVE as events in the house happen...

Netflix is essentially built around the fact that users can binge on their favorite content... They aren't logging in every day to catch up on the latest episodes... On demand or catch-up services like Hulu rely on very similar principles... On one hand it is essentially just a companion to tradition TV viewing... On the other it allows users to watch in their favorite content in their own time vs a traditional schedule... Even with content being delivered at a much faster pace users are not necessarily watching content in a consistent manner... Neither service is very well suited to the BB format... Or at very least they aren't right now...

A move to an online only format would see a greatly reduced budget, a reduction in advertising and auxiliary revenue streams as well as a significant reduction in the number of episodes... It would likely also require a complete overhaul of the voting system, which in turn would reduce the amount of viewer participation... I also believe it would result in an overall reduction the number of viewers due to a reduced level of awareness through advertising... And overall accessibility is also another issue...

stan is the shittiest piece of shit that has ever existed

Whilst this doesn't really confirm anything either way (it is not hard to add it back later)... Nine Entertainment Co have now removed Big Brother from their media hub website.

For a while Big Brother was dropped as a "key show" for Channel 9 but it was still listed under Channel 9 as one of its other programs. But not anymore - it has been completely removed now!

It's not a confirmation but it's a fairly strong sign that they've given up... Although to be honest I don't believe we'll ever be given an official confirmation... Which in a way is smart... I think it's clear that they are weary of Ten potentially snapping it up... And it also leaves options open in the odd chance they see some value in giving it another go in the future... Having to backpedal later after an official cancellation really wouldn't look very good... I mean how silly would it have looked for Ten to have revived BB after only a year or two break?

Rights are up in Nov/dec and I doubt ten have the money or interest. More chance seven.
