To be honest, I can't really criticise Tim (and I'm on record as not being a great admirer). Charities have benefited from his largesse, and I'm fairly sure they won't be quibbling. On a personal note, my mother has Alzheimers…so I'm not too concerned whether Tim's gesture was appropriately humble or not. That said, I have utterly no problem with people not participating or keeping the money if that's what they want to do. Tim certainly knows how to get people talkingThis is the part that makes me the most uncomfortable about the whole situation... Those who don't respond publicly will be seen to have just kept the money when they might have simply chosen not to participate. It's the harsh judgements on these HM's integrity that is unfair and unjust.
