why does someone that doesn't want to play Tim's game have to play or else suffer public attacks

how is it a game? it's money for charity ffs, even ed can see beyond his tim paranoia. The world has gone crazy when someone offers you money to give to your intended charity and you are too busy ducking and weaving trying to outsmart the gift giver.

so if it's a game, then accepting the money at all means taking part in the game. So some are happy to play the game and keep the money but not play the game and give the money to charity. Fair enough, the onus is on them.

or it's not a game, just a chance to share the wealth and include others.

I certainly agree with a lot of what you're saying [MENTION=31931]Jo-bot[/MENTION], and for the record how any of them could actually accept any of that money for themselves when it was obviously intended for charity is beyond me. I guess I'm not in a position to judge any of them taking the money because I've never been that stuck financially where I needed to accept money from someone I didn't even get along with in order to pay my rent like in Jazz's case. However like you already pointed out, Jazz was going to have to somehow pay her rent regardless of whether Tim offered her that money or not. And for the record I also think Tahan is an absolute moron for only donating $100 for the simple fact that by it being posted that she donated $100 it makes it obvious that she was one of the ones that kept the majority of the money (regardless of whether she really is planning on donating more or it or not). I also kinda laugh when Xavier defended Tahan on Twitter saying that none of the people giving her crap would even donate $100 of their own money when Tahan wasn't donating her money she was donating Tim's. She's made a $400 profit not lost $100.

Like others though I just think it would have been better if Tim had have just said that he was going to donate $500 to a charity of each of the HMs, choosing because it wouldn't have even allowed this stuff to happen with Tahan and Jazz (and the others who took it) because they would have been forced to use it the right way. My only issue with Tim here is the video because it does encourage criticism. However like I said previously, I don't actually think Tim expected any of them to actually keep the money so I don't think he expected a fall out to this extent either.

hey there, you are right it probably would have been easier but i really don't think he expected anyone to keep it. I think he thought they would all take it in the spirit intended and look good in the public eye. He's been very generous.

Jeez, is this really so hard? I'm a little reluctant to even say another word, but I can't believe this is even still going on, let alone with so much anger. Tim has done a very kind and generous thing, and no amount of gameplay or whatever can take away from the impact of that gesture. Seriously, it can't. No one's been murdered, and the kind of idiots hating on HMs on Twitter over it DO NOT MATTER.

That said, I hardly think that thinking it might have been better if Tim had proposed this gift a little differently is anything less than a valid opinion, and it doesn't equate to wishing he hadn't done it. At all.

Anyway, hoping this blows over soon. Merry and happy and all that.

He could have asked them privately what their favourite charity was and then made a donation on their behalf as a Christmas gift. The public video, the "it's for you - but not if you're nice" have nothing to do with charity, that's just Tim's game. Some might say a game that is not entirely within the spirit of Christmas.

Tahan has said several times the $400 is going to other charities but people are quick to be judgmental. These people who are saying negative comments also seem to ignore all the good she has done e.g. prizes from her christmas giveaway to hundreds of fans (she also said she is giving stuff to charities), she has put up links on her facebook page helping her friends' charities like the Indigenous Youth Program and finding a cure for cancer. Just now she is sending toiletries to the homeless. So I disagree when you call her a moron.

i think as long as there is twitter around people are going to be giving negative opinions to people they don't know, no matter what the situation. I don't think there has ever been a win/win situation, there will always be negative tweets.

it is a game when he says you can keep the money and be naughty or donate it and be nice

if he says they can keep it then they should be able to keep it without anyone judging them (he made the rules) but he knew social media would ream anyone that did and would ream anyone who didn't respond

if he only wanted to make a genuine charitable gesture he would have said I am going to donate $500 in the name of each HM to the charity of their choice (if he had done this he would be getting nothing but praise from me and everyone else)

So you're saying Tim is NOT responsible for setting up the game in a way that would make people look bad, that his intentions were pure and generous? You're saying that when someone acts like a manipulative jerk, and you clearly state that Tim set it up this way to force the HMs to choose what he wanted them to do, which is the very definition of manipulation, that it is up to the victims of his manipulation to act in such away so as to not be labeled bad, while the person doing the manipulation is the hero?

I clearly said in my post that it was a gameplay, I clearly stated that Tim was being forceful on his well known intentions. No where did I state he is a hero for it. You are putting a spin on m post with words that I did not say. How you read my post is not my problem.

Whoever wanted to join in Tim's game should take responsibility- tim doesn't control or have authority as the most influential hm, but it's the hms that give him that power. Don't want to play well ignore it. He did a good thing wanting hms to give the money to a charity. How is that Tim's fault for hms not taking that course of action? The video was public, the meaning of naughty and nice is clearly stating what was intended to the money. If there is an issue with how tim or what tim says that alludes to him being manipulative, well to me, it's your own issue on how you view tim, because I see tim as being cheeky and nothing more. He didn't have to give any money out but he did. The intention was to donate. I can't make that any clearer. The hms only have to say what charity and be done with it. If they want to challenge ton and use that money, knowing very well what tim really wanted them to do with the money, well that is on them and not on tim. Every persons course of action is their own and not to be places on another human being. Obviously I'm only talking about situations as this and not something a lot more serious. I've stated there are no judgements on hms time again. But I won't lay blame on tim for the backlash they get.

You know I'm a tahan fan, but yes she stated she donated 100 dollars. She knew Tim's intentions and whilst I won't judge her on her decision, the backlash is for her to answer to and not tim. Believe me, I don't often fault tahan, actually that's not true. I have many times lol. The point is, her choice is her responsibility

Edit: I don't think tahan should backlash at all actually, but I'm stating that tim is not to blame for the decision hms make, that's all. But it seems tahan has been donating to other charities and not just using Tim's money. So good on her. Some of these HMs in particular will always have haters hanging on their every post just to bash them. They could find a cure for cancer and yet they'd face "zomg, why didn't you find a cure for Alzheimers for Tully's mother? You're a monster!!11!"

That's the problem with social media for everyone, not just HMs. So many people use it just to give a glossed over/artificial view of their lives instead of the truth. So when someone like Jazz says she's now struggling to pay her rent, her haters have trouble believing that as it doesn't jive with the life she's presented to them of dinners out, boozing, getting her nails done weekly, etc. Tim also told the HMs to give him their details privately on FB... it was Jazz who publicly made it known on Twitter that not only was she taking the money but what she planned on doing with it. She needs to own that.

There's a difference between calling someone an arsehole and calling them a moron. I don't think she's the former, but in this situation I certainly think she was the latter. I have no idea whether she really was planning on donating that money to other charities or only said that after she already started copping criticism, however obviously Tim had no knowledge of the rest going to other charities so he posted accordingly that Tahan donated $100 of the money. I personally think that was stupid of her because it strongly gives the impression that she's kept $400 for herself. If she wanted to spread it around then why not ask Tim to make the other donations too? I'm sure he wouldn't have minded donating to a few more charities if Tahan wanted to spread it around. I suspect now that she's copped shit for it we might see a few tweets from Tim coming up saying that Tahan has donated his money to a few more charities.

For the record I don't think this indicates that Tahan's a bad person, just that I think she was a bit stupid in this situation. I personally can't fathom how anyone could accept money for themselves that was intended for charity, but then again I can't be too critical on any of them that took it because I don't know their position or intentions either. I won't lie, I don't think Tahan was originally planning on donating more than $100 and it just changing her tune now after copping it badly (that's just IMO of course). I feel if she were Tim would have some kind of knowledge and would have posted it. However I suppose if that criticism really does encourage her to donate the full amount like it was intended for her to do then Tim's way of doing it has some merit. In other words my opinion on this keeps changing so just disregard anything I say lol.
