Well Tim has certainly sparked the flame in here again hasn't he.

I have read through the last pages. I just wonder if someone else had won and done exactly the same thing, would some of those who are basically calling a witch hunt on Tim would sing a different tune?

Has anyone else watched any telethons etc? What about celebrity game shows where money is donated to charities?
How has Tim done anything other than offered a generous gesture? His tactic is not new. Yes he has turned it into a little bit of a game and a bit fun. Doesn't matter. Charities win.

For those so concerned about the poor public images of those HMs who keep the money for themselves? You've got to be freakin kidding me. It's plainly obvious that this money was intended for charity. If you decide to keep it then you will obviously cop flack. Make sure you are big enough to deal with it before you make that decision. Just remember that this money was never yours, you don't deserve it.

For those concerned about those HMs who don't want to "play Tim's game" by accepting the money for themselves OR for charity? You've got to be freakin kidding me again!!! Cutting off your nose to spite your face. Just choose a worthy charity. Yes Tim looks good, but so do you AND you get a tax write off. If they are so bitter and twisted that they don't want to make Tim look good then they are just extremely petty.

To whoever suggested that they try to choose a charity to make Tim cringe. All I did was cringe at your comment. Low!

It's Christmas people. Accept this as it was intended.
 
In fact I think deep down Tahan has one of the kindest hearts of all of the HM's (she's a little immature and sometimes needs to check what she is about to say) but IMO she is a really good person.

Don't worry about changing your mind... I edited my post afterwards lol. And reading mrs b's post again it has changed, but yep I thought it was quite clear what tim wanted hms to do with that money. I think most hms felt they had to donate - good! Tahan will now donate it all perhaps- good! I see this as a good thing not a bad thing

It would be really sad if I stopped following Tully because I'm so over her obsession with her dog. Apologies to all the animal lovers here, but Tully, please love your dog quietly ;)

Okay, well sorry for saying that in this situation I think Tahan was a bit of a moron. To be honest the word doesn't hold that deal of strength or impact for me so I really didn't mean it to be that intense, but if it is for you then I'm sorry.

I think Tahan was less than intelligent as she could have been in this situation.

And for the record I have never ever called you a bitch or uptight and am frankly insulted that you have implied that I have.

If that's really what she was always intending to do with the money (I really don't know), then I think she should have either made that clear to Tim when he posted it or just did what some of the others did and no say whether they accepted the money or not and just donated it herself. I'm actually confused as to why people are saying I need to cut Tahan some slack here when I was originally the one that said I was sad she was copping it and it was the thing I was afraid of happening.

WHY should she have to explain herself to Tim? He hasn't asked anyone to do that. I've said earlier in this thread that in most Aboriginal communities there's a very strong sense that you must look after your family first. I know I'm only speculating, but based on a video of Tahan's mother, where she says she's found a job cooking (finally), I suspect money is tight. I'm thinking that Tim wouldn't begrudge her that at all, but nor should Tahan have to divulge family affairs.

I agree with this so much. I've always said she needs some growing up, but she is a good person and I see that.

I like Tim, I just think he went too far with making this a game and forcing people to be a part of it. I would absolutely say the same of anyone that did this.

I never said she should have to explain herself to Tim? I said that maybe letting him know that she was planning on donating the majority of it in Darwin or using it for her family (if that's the case) would have been the more intelligent thing to do because when he posted that she donated $100 to the other charity he could have also posted that she was donating the rest up there. That would have prevented the crap she's currently copping on Twitter because people would know that she was donating all of it and not keeping $400. I don't think Tim would have hesitated to tell people that Tahan was planning to donate the rest rather than keep it if she had have given him a heads up. That's my point here. She could have been a lot more intelligent about it and prevented that criticism she's copping.

I understand that she shouldn't have to divulge any family matters, but maybe a comment to him that she wasn't keeping it for herself and had other ideas for it would have helped a lot. I don't think Tim had to post that it was for her family, but he probably would have mentioned that he knows where it's going and he respected it.

I like the fact that she's being 'less intelligent' then. She doesn't need to disclose her personal business, not even to Tim. That money was meant to be no strings attached and she's taken Tim at his word.

That's the thing that's been bugging me about the idea of judging HMs who haven't given the money from Tim to a specific charity. Unless they've said they're keeping it for their own needs, we have no idea that they're not using it charitably, but may simply have chosen a more personal or hands-on route. Maybe they have an acquaintance or loved one in dire financial straits whom they wouldn't have been able to help otherwise. Maybe they like picking out clothes and toys for underprivileged kids and will use the money for that. Who knows.
