That stupid preview for tonight made my blood boil!!

If he wants to leave just leave, don't use some loyalty excuse to get yourself out of the competition.

I don't really understand why he does not want to cook against her anyway? It appears to be a dessert test which is supposed to be Crybaby's forte. You can tell none of the other contestant's are having a bar of it 'don't do it Ben' - and as much as I would love CB to go it is pretty rude of him to imply he is the one who will win so he better step back.

Not happy !

I call shenanigans.

They'd never let such a secret out the day before.

I reckon it's creative editing, and Ben is already safe and says that he wants to take Emma's place in the final cookoff part, but doesn;t actually go so far as to do it.

ie: the judges go "Ben you seem upset. Are you wishing you were in the final elimination instead of someone else?"

And as for the shot of Emma crying, well..

a) we have an entire catalog of those shots by now. It could have been from any time.
b) just cos they showed her crying after ben says his piece, doesn't mean that's when it happened.

..... I can live in hope anyway.

From Emma's POV - I'd hate to be the one that got through cos someone else pulled out. How demeaning.

Oh yeah I agree there is probably some shenanigans going on, just the whole 'fall on your sword business' is getting old and boring.

Why does anyone bother to enter anything these days if they are just going to pull out when it gets a bit hard or someone has a cry. It's the same with rule breaking like Matt with his phone last year 'oh he didn't look up recipes' so f-ing what!? He still did something that was against the rules and therefore was punished.

If you don't want to abide by the rules from go to woah then don't bloody apply!

It also could be that Ben is shitting himself having to cook a dessert against Emma, which she can cook and he can't. So he does the whole "I don't want to cook against Emma because I'll beat her and she'll be sent home" trick so that if/when he does lose against her, he can nod his head and smile and act like the mysterious chivalrous gentleman and pretend he sacrificed himself. Possibility??

How pathetic would that be? Man up, Ben. Emma isn't that amazing a cook that you have no chance.

It gets me every season how many of them have "never cooked a cake" or a dessert of any kind. I know there are specific chefs for desserts in the real world, but everyone should know by now - on MC YOU WILL HAVE TO COOK DESSERTS. So learn some, ffs.

I do think tonight's challenge is a bit crap. 32 different kinds of cake. WTF?

I know cake flavours, not kinds. I'm pretty sure chocolate cake won't be one of the 32 though, lol.

Can't wait for the cakes, love pretty cakes.............the one they show them guessing looks like red velvet cake.

MC isn't what Ben thought it would be, it's not very fair, not very nice, it's pretty rough, it's exploiting people - they agreed to it, but you could see last night he no longer agrees after cooking for 2 or 3 days for 450 people...........for nothing, Ben's done, he's also done with the food industry - one of the most corrupt and sexist workplaces, not for you Ben.

What reward would the normal cooks / waiters have gotten for the hindu wedding? Nothing, nothing at all but a paycheck. What does he expect a big song and dance after he does anything? sheesh

MC isn't what Ben thought it would be, it's not very fair, not very nice, it's pretty rough, it's exploiting people -

f this is what he really thinks it does not sound like he is cut out for anything much. LIFE IS NOT FAIR, get used to it already for crying out loud.

PS Do hindu's just go to weddings all year round? Surely with 450 people you must know someone who is getting married every week.

That whole show was pathetic.
And those 2 dumbarses both deserved to get dumped..........they ruined a good challenge through sheer stupidity, there were plent of easy picks.......and I wanted to see more pretty cakes.
Piss off emma, you can't even pick one cake to save youself, don't even know a sacher torte and you want to have a cake shop.........she needs 10 years cooking.

I thought it was a great result.

Sure the whole thing was a hilarious farce, but the right person went. Thankfully.

And as for ben supposedly wanting to pull out cos he thought emma "needed to be there" more than him, he sure didn't hold back on the cooking. It was an inventive, original cake. It was a bit clunky looking, sure, but it sounded and looked much more appetising than Emma's "lets get every ingredient and smoosh them all together" cake.

I wanted to find out the names of all those cakes.
Emma seemed like a sweet person but thank goodness she's gone...her blubbering drove me nuts.

Beau's attempted self-sacrifice was pretty funny too.

There was so much blubbering tonight, with the right result, thankfully.

I'm so happy with that result though, it was time for Emma to go, she was getting on my nerves.

shame we didn't get to see many more of the cakes, I had a perfect score!!! I had even guessed the sache torte - although to be honest I wasn't 100% sure

What it it with these challenges that they don;t just pick off all the easy ones first?

I was saying I would have taken my slice of cake back in the line to eat while everyone else was having their turn - mmm cake!!

Thank goodness for that!! Her cake looked terrible IMO, if it was based on looks alone then she failed big time.

I think there may have a been a bit of editing done and we missed everyone getting a stern talking to. I am still confused as to why he thought he could save her? She lost fair and square and I think as soon as he realised it would just mean some other poor soul would have to step in it he realised he did not have the sneaky power he thought he did.

I did have a good laugh to myself when Ben said Emma was 'here to win it' bwah ha ha ha, nice one Ben. I also notice that at the end of the ep it said Emma was working in a pattisserie but nothing about an Apprenticeship. Telling porkies were we love?

Anyone threatneing to leave should just be kicked out now! How rude and disrespectful of everyone.

Yeah, the only thing Ben could have done (if he genuinely wanted to 'save" Emma) would have been to throw the challenge by deliberately making a crap cake. The fact that he put his all into making a pretty good cake shows he wasn't 100% happy with his self-sacrifice anyway. His and Beau's chivalrous sacrifices just looked totally STUPID, especially considering the damsel in distress was not someone worth saving anyway.

Recap http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment...n-for-wouldbe-masterchefs-20120622-20s2q.html

Says a few things we were all thinking.

Emma, who wants to open a dessert bar, has a chance to prove why she'll be Australia's next great pastry chef. "I love eating cake and I love making cake, but I'm not great with knowing different cake names," she tells us. Lucky she's got a steely resolve then - at least, when she's not crying.

She takes a bite from one of the cakes and offers her answer: chocolate mud cake. It's not. It might turn to mud, though, if Emma keeps crying.

"This is the worst" ... sob ... sob ... sob ... "the worst scenario at any stage of the competition," says a tearful Emma.

Ben, though, is really sticking with his walking dead routine. "Emma came on to win and she has to be here to do that. I will miss this, I really will, but I'm not cooking against Emma," he says. "If it saves her, I'll pull out of the competition."

Not so fast! Beau's offering himself for sacrifice. Who said chivalry was dead? Or have they ALL heard about the MasterChef's ratings?

Where's a cool head when you need one? Thankfully, social worker Tregan is on hand. She'll know how to handle herself in a crisis. "What the hell is going on?" she asks. "We've got jumpers left, right and centre here ... like, this is complete craziness."

Everyone's losing it, so it's up to Gary to restore order. No one can step in and take Emma's place, he says. And as for this touchy-feely nonsense, cut it out right now.

Things aren't going well for Emma either. She knocks over a mixer, then gets into a spat with Gary over the jelly she's hoping to squeeze onto her cake. Gary doesn't think it'll work. "I don't doubt you're right, but I think this is something I'm sort of comfortable with," Emma responds, not sounding at all convinced.

"Just be careful with that," Gary snaps back, his feelings wounded, before pulling a 'whatever, girlfriend' look.

It seems Gary's had a whinge to George, who comes over to beat up on Emma. Her jelly isn't going to work. "As soon as you beat it up, it'll break down," George says. The judges know - they've adopted that tactic with Emma all season.

Everyone gets in touch with their feelings. Soon enough, Emma is heading home to South Australia, where we're told she's working in a patisserie. Hope she knows her cakes now.

Ben probably changed his mind when he saw Emma's smug smile when she realized they had to cook a cake; supposedly her forte, not Ben's. She never seemed to be worried about Ben leaving, just about herself leaving. If Ben thinks he has to leave in order for her to stay (ie he can beat her) then what makes him think in a bazillion years she can win it? No way would she ever outcook the likes of Amina and Audra..or even Julia or Kylie..or pretty much any of the other contestants still there.

Re the unnamed pattiserie..behind the counter at Bakers Delight maybe..lol.

Did you see that there were no squeals when Ben got back to the house? Do you think they will be releaved that Emma has gone?

SHe seemed to be well liked, as a person, maybe they would have preferred her to stay being comfortable that she could be outcooked in a challenge?

Andrew and Wade next to go, preference wise for me I think.
