Last movie you saw

Just relaxing in front of the TV on Saturday reading the new Tolkien book and watching "Batman Begins" at the same time (sort of).

From what I saw (most of the film) it looked pretty impressive and way superior to its predecessors. Bale is good in the title role.

I watched Down in the Valley with Edward Norton. He is a truly amazing actor - everything I've seen him in he truly becomes the character. He's great, the movie was a bit meh, but I'd watch it again just because of him.

Saw Resident Evil 3:Extinction.
Was pretty good, but geez do they mix and swap around the characters from the original video games!

Anyone seen The Brave one?starring Jodie Foster

thinking of going to see that this weekend, heard good things

I watched "Nanny Diaries" @ the cinemas

it was alright, kinda boring yet had its funny parts
Yeh just saw "death at a funeral" and was major dissapointed. It too was kinda boring even though it had supposed "funny" parts. Was too predictable, too calculated, too rehearsed, almost enforced laughter, not likeable characters, dont know what it was...this film is a dog.
It should have been funny it had a nudist, a dwarfe, a friend who was left to carry an old cranky old fart up a hill while being bashed by him...but somehow it all fell flat, it was dull and gloomy. Maybe cause there was no comedian present. Wish I had a fast forward at the cinema. Lucky I had a free ticket, preview. If I had to pay to watch this I would have been swindled, and mad.

Hi Jake

Yes I have seen this film today

Bit of a revenge/vigilante type movie. Saeed from ch7 Lost fame is in the movie. I adore Jodie Foster, she plays a great role, though at times I thought I was looking at Michael J Fox, LOL. She has similar traits to MJF at times (non parkinsons related).

I found the ending very sad (dog in the tunnel) :(

Overall, nothing really new or magic about this film. Some graphic violence about. But does send a message I guess about losing a loved one in this way, that not everyone can simply forget and move on. That closure for some is death to murderers.

Some dry sense of humour in it.

(thug dead lying on the ground after falling from a high rise car park)
Detective1: "Wow, looks like falling all that way did him"
Detective2: "either that, or the crowbar half way in his head"

:D

worth a look, though I am biased towards Jodie :)

7/10

Part way through "The Da Vinci" code from DVD...watching it in instalments before I pass out from fever that I've got this weekend.

It's pretty intense.

I need to get to the cinema and watch something new. But I couldnt' sit through "The Kingdom". More yankee propaganda I don't need.

:p

Good Luck Chuck

Was very filthy but I loved it.. I think Jessica Alba was the only chick in the movie not to get her tits out! :(

Saw IV- Worst Saw movie ever. It was really boring. My mind kept wandering and i couldn't keep up with the storyline. The plot got really complicated, and thats the reason why the first one was the best because it was straightforward yet brilliant. Also there was not enough gore.

How could anyone go and see Saw IV and not expect it to be a pile of steaming excrement? Next time you want to give away $10, why not just give it to me?

Shawn of the Dead was on late Sunday night. (with the added difficulty of Daylight Savings and having to go to work the next day)

A great movie. A tribute to being a hopeless lazy bugger.
Loved the Almost Anything Goes ending.

Seen two movies in two days:
Eastern Promises
Is rated R18+
Violent, but compelling. The most violent scene of all contained bare-all-bouncing nudity, but so much scary gore I couldn't watch properly.
In hindsight, the plot was a bit thin and contrived, but the cinematography is beautiful and mobile, so you don't really notice.

Deep Water
Is rated G
This is a documentary on Donald Crowhurst especially, and the first solo, non-stop, round the world yacht race more generally. As it has a lot of archive footage from 1968, as well as a lot of amateur footage from the contestants themselves, the cinematographic quality is very uneven, but the story is a complex and dramatic one, of human strength and frailty, and the implacable, unpredictable ocean.
It is produced by the same companies as 'Touching the Void' (although the only producer the movies share is John Smithson, and the directors are different), and it is in a similar format of interviews, reenactment and archive footage. The story is more complex and less uplifting than 'Touching the Void' - and if there was ever an ending that would reduce a strong man to tears, this would be it. Absolutely gripping.

What's with all these US movies using the name "Chuck" in the title? US comedies usually make me want to chuck anyway, but that's by the by.

Yes, "The Grudge" is one of my favourite big budget horrors to come out over the last 3 years or so. Very good.

Recently saw Catch and Release. I'm not sure but it could quite possibly be the worst movie I have ever seen.

Its got Jennifer Garner and Timothy Olyphant in the lead roles. Jennifer is Gray and we meet her at the funeral of her fiance, Grady (seriously, Gray and Grady). Basically, Gray moves in with Grady's male friends and discovers that he was an asshole and had heaps of money, a girlfriend and a kid she knew nothing about. Gray 'finds herself' and falls in love with Grady's playboy best friend Fitz (Olyphant). Its all fluff and I find the love story hard to swallow. There is little character development and tries too hard to be sincere.

Juliette Lewis steals the show (which isn't hard) as the mistress. Also has Kevin Smith in a supporting role and though actor he is not, he does provide some funny moments. The real star of this movie is the beautiful scenery. Set in Colarado, the scenes at the river are gorgeous, and distracts you from the clunky plot.

Tidbit: Garner was pregnant during this film. It shows.

Watch it with a girl that likes sappy crap.
