Last movie you saw

Have you read the book wynter? I loved the book so I was a little disappointed in the movie, but then that's always the case so I wasn't expecting greatness.

No, I haven't allican. I did watch the special features thing where they interviewed the director, screenwriter and the producer and they all hinted very broadly that there was a lot more in the book that wasn't in the movie. They almost sounded apologetic that the movie wasn't as detailed as the book.

Apparently he was supposed to lose his feet in the book? yes? But they decided not to do that in the movie. I hate it when screenwriters re-write major events of books.

Anyway, i'd only give it about a 6/10. T'was ok..not a movie I'd watch again.

I did not like Immortal. I thought it sucked........ However I do love Buckaroo Banzai....... It's just full of odd and full of quirk.

"God ... is dead! Marx? Dead! But... the Mar - ket......is immortal!!!" (R Mayall, addressing the Politburo)

The Blind Side - I really enjoyed it. A nice feel good movie.
Old Dogs - Daughter enjoyed it, I kept getting up and wiping skirting boards and stuff *yawn*

Was listening to MMM yesterday and they did a really good review of "The Book Of Eli" and well, let's just say the film is a piece of poo.......It'e even filmed in poo colour

Kick Ass. Last night. ****ing Awesome. sure the kid swears(not too much really. just one 'C'). but the whole movie is kinda set in this state of "OMFG they cant do that can they?"

it is probably the funniest movie i have seen in a VERY long time. and unless you have a problem with 11 yr olds acting like a 18 yr old, then you shoulld go see it.

Even Nicolas Cage's toopay was bareable ;)

Hot Tub Time Machine. fucking hilarious! when they say this years Hangover about every other movie, ignore it cause this one is.. its even ruder.

Yeah Hot Tub Time Machine was funny and entertaining, wasn't on the level of brilliance I had hoped. Still worth seeing. I enjoyed it.

Cool that sounds like fun.

What are the movies to avoid? I know The Book Of Eli kinda sucks thanks to MMM

Oh and avoid "The Human Centipede" it's just sick

Solaris

The george clooney space film from 2002. You know, Steven Soderbergh is a very all over the place kind of film maker. The film simply was just hollow. For whats meant to be an actor driven intense, psychological sort of drama, coping with lose, love ect.. it was just kind of dull, vague and didn't explore anything. Everything was left way too subtle and yeah... It's either a case of they left too much off screen, rushed the story and atmosphere too much.. yet still had a slow film... and thought leaving so much of screen, would make it more intelligent. Didn't work.

In a way it seemed too simplistic an exploration of the issues. It actually feels a lot like a film that had a lot left on the cutting room floor to try and make the film have more mass appeal but then ruins the film.

I watched that recently as well and thought much the same, a lot of it didn't make sense but it did seem like it was going to get somewhere. Then didn't.

It was a case of, they left so much of screen, didn't spend enough time on the mystery and atmosphere. Or even having Clooneys character react realistically freaked out his dead ex was now walking around a space station. Things like the little kid on the station was only shown in it a couple times. You just got no sense of anything. Such a shame. Just seemed to be a couple people on a space station. Even the whole mystery of why they only needed him wasn't well done. They refused to leave, yet when he gets there they want to... he was holding them up... eh best not to think too much about it.

Try the original film I think it's russian with English subtitles or such. Much better and you get more explanation

yeah i may have to check it out. I'm still always amazed at the films that get made, with a lot of talented people, a lot of time and effort yet no one steps away and can see major flaws. Whether it's a case of all being too close to the subject material you don't see it's not explained to the viewer sufficiently or not.

I got the impression they had seen the original or part of it then americanised it ... That's how I felt watching that mess.

Iron Man 2

What to say really. If you're interested in this, you liked the first you know what to expect. It's a good solid entertaining film with little crap. It wasn't quite as good as I hoped, but it is a solid comic book film, better than the vast majority of them. It didn't get too deep and seemed to have less kick ass, smiling moments than the first. It's an improvement on the first, better structured, but it did just have less of that emotional, that's so cool than the first did. If you know what I mean?
I think the main complaint is, not that it wasn't good, just that it wasn't really good. Especially seeing now we've seen so many excellent comic book films over recent years. Like the excellent Kick Ass a few weeks ago. This didn't have anything to elevate it to the level of maturity, subtext or something new that recent stand outs like, The Dark Knight, Watchman, Kick Ass did. It's more a big fun, entertaining comic book film done very well. Not anything more and there's nothing at all wrong with that.

The stupidest thing about Iron Man too is one of the baddies and his weapon of choice.......Way too far fetched . I just couldn't take that seriously even for this genre.

Well this film deals with the same thing of, the bad guys are all based on iron man suits or related technology once again.

It's a bit redundant. Although i don't know what the comics are like.

I was talking about the guy
with the laser whips

I can take the iron man suit, and the rest but those just seemed a little too far fetched even for this movie.
