Last movie you saw

Don't try to work out women...... I asked the same question about her choice of guy and it turned into a mini drama. I mean big time Hollywood actress.... Should be seen with maybe another actor they fancy or a doctor, or a lawyer.. Someone posh.

The guy isn't even good looking. She's got fame and wealth, so I don't get what she was thinking there.

However, at least she's done the right thing now and moved out.

Kick Ass - we loved this.

Hit Girl is freakin awesome.

It is very violent but it's comic book silly violence - teen tarantino, that kind of stuff doesn't bother me like the way realistic human suffering stuff does.

The whole cast is very likeable, even Cage is bearable in this.

Kick Ass looks like it could be fun.

Hit Girl....the title doesn't sound interesting........

There's an Ashton Kritter movie coming out called "Killers"

I really want to see Kick Ass too. The little bits I've seen of it make it look very fun.

This morning I put on "King Kong vs Godzilla", which I acquired in a moment of silliness. Subtitled, and from a phase when Godzilla had become a kid friendly comedy act.
And it was really fun. It snaps along quickly, and we commenting "uh oh, that trains a model... they're gonna be in trouble!"

Kong is a guy in a suit... no cgi or animation, but one with real character. And he ends up capturing a Japanese hottie and carrying her up a building. In the end he has a daft battle with Big G, G shooting fire breath and Kong having been hit by lightning and shooting electricity. Throwing 20 metre high boulders that are conveniently lying about at each other.

Meh...it's a bit like going to see that astro boy thing or whatever it was, that was Taylor Lautner's first movie. Teenagers in lycra don't really enthuse me to get to the cinema.

Also, I went to see Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction" like 5 times in the mid 90s. Don't know what I can have been thinking. He's only good movie ever is "Jacky Brown".

The "Twilight/New Moon" franchise on the other hand....

Kick Ass

The film truly is awesome! One of the best walking out of a theatre feelings i've had in ages. The film also just keeps getting better and better as it goes along. As it moves from the more awkward teenage, super hero stuff, into more a super hero, action type film, all the way through being unexpected and hilarious. Don't know really what to say, but it was funny, had awesome characters and action, and most of the teen stuff came off great as well. For those expecting a cheapish simple comic book type parody, this isn't something like "Superhero Movie" with a harder rating. It's a proper action, comic book, comedy film. It's original, witty, clever and as I said, unexpected. It's not the sort of film you know the general direction it's heading.

As for controversy, seriously people complaining need to get a life. Yeah Hit Girl swears a few times and her character kills people, but it's not how it's been portrayed in the media. Yeah it's violent and graphic, but not any more so than an action film of this rating. What works though is, whenever she swears, which isn't that much, it's always spot on and hilarious. When she kills, it's in amazingly done fight scenes, so it's just cool as! There's a bit of action in this, and all the scenes are different, done differently, all entertaining. They have that cool factor, so if hit girls fighting people, it's that kind of cool, action sequences, that make you smile with delight at how cool it all is. Hard to explain, but it's definitely one for the action fans. You don't even think of it as a little girl doing it. It's just a cool super hero being bad ass.

Of course it's not everyone's cup of tea, if you're too over sensitive, think you won't like it. Don't go. However if you love action movies, comic book movies, can have a dark sense of humour, it's great! It really blew my expectations out of the water. I loved it and want to see it again!

You've made me also wish to go so I may do that this Tuesday it being cheap Tuesday and all.

(Warning, spoiler youtubes) Kick Ass kicks ass !

Just got back from seeing "Kick-Ass" with numba1son.

Best use of "In the House - In a Heartbeat" since "28 days later !"
It is used in the warehouse scene when Nick does his stuff while dressed as an aged batman.

spoiler youtube of warehouse scene that has the 28 days later music

28 days after slideshow and same music

This Lass is Tops ... and so typical of the age and abilities of the kind of people who regularly kick my ass in online xbox games like "Halo". :) Also see: http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0154722/ and http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2806615808/ch0154722

Both numba1son and I turned to each other and said at the same time "this is so wrong" ... yet both knowing full well that younger people than her effortlessly run rings around us in FPS online situations !

The FPS segment was too slow even for this gamer though.

Nick Cage was excellent
(loved his stick on pr0n moustache extensions).
Such a father to be admired that I just had to turn to numba1son and apologise for being such a neglectful father by
not training him to deal with being shot in the chest and not buying him qool presents like butterfly knives, glocks, and purple wigs
, but instead just introducing him to FPS and online role playing games at a young age. :D

Hmmm, will have to take LSCP to see this when she gets back from Sinny, but have warned her to not be tempted to take her students to see it while over there. ;)

Here is a spoiler youtube featuring the awesome "Hit Girl". :)

Here is an interview with her. LOL that she is too young to see the movie she played such a pivotal role in. :)

So you liked it? Glad you did, show's you are human. Though how could you like something like this, and then have watchmen go totally over your head?

The guy who does the movie reviews on TripleJ said that for the first time in about 3 years Nic Cage doesn't suck, which is good because his name on the movie generally means I will not watch it :)

I saw Date Night over the weekend.

Steve Carell is my hero! and Tina Fey is funny too but the script and storyline was lacking.

7/10

7/10 well it can't be that bad then...... And Tina Fey has always been funny and I love her show "30 Rock" which is often quite funny.

Were they a plain ordinary couple in this movie or was there something else involved?

From the shorts it seems like it they've used format that is pretty predictable: bumbling and stumbling from one near miss to another *yawn* I'm sure I'd get a laugh but the plot looks pretty thin yes?

Just a married couple and yes the plot was very thin. Had the potential to be so much funnier! Or maybe it is funny to old married couples? I didn't think Couples Retreat was that great but an older married friend of mine thought it was hysterical!

Hit Girl actress reminds me a bi tof Jodie foster - she's got a cute cool tomboyishness reminiscent of Foster as a kid.

Has anyone seen The Eclipse? Irish ghost/romance thing that sounds interesting.

And is shutter Island any good?

I want a movie to watch this weekend, I like the sound of the Irish film, and I like Leo doing loopy.
