Last movie you saw

Ironman 2 at Midland Gold-class with LSCP.

Lurved the first half ... tis wonderful parody and irony (heh) melded into one, with the general attitudes and humour reminding me of a face I see daily in the virtual mirror of the internut ... and occasionally when I bother to groom myself better, in a literal mirror - well, so reckons LSCP. ;) :D

I lurved++ the line about
privatising world peace
and the line delivered soon after that went something like
"and you can count on me... to pleasure myself!
;):p:):D

It gets a bit meh with the introduction of
sheild
though and I didn't care about the fighting/action scenes at all ... I would have been happy if the whole movie had stayed in the realm of Howard Hughes type politicking and pissing competitions.

Shame about the credits music too. The song picked has a qool into riff but the rest of the lyrics really let it down.

We left soon into the into riff rather than inflict the rest upon our ears just to watch the credits, and so it wasn't until we got home that I realised (cheers IMDB) who the tattooed villain was.

Up In The Air on DVD

I normally can't stand George Clooney and the plot for the movie sounded so bloody boring! but I tried it anyway and I was surprised, it was actually good.. I would give it 4 stars.

I watched that on the weekend too and thought it was good as well. I am a George Clooney fan, he's just so.... suave. :)

The Haunting in Connecticut on DVD.

This was like your typical Haunted House movie but it was a bit better than the average.

A teenage boy is dying of cancer and he is doing experimental treatment which makes him see things.. The family decide to move closer to the hospital as its a long trip everytime they go. They buy a cheap house because they can't afford much and the realtor tells them the house has a history.

So then they move in and things start to happen, I can see this freaking the shit out of the normal person but I'm used to all these horror movies so it was fun for me.

And they say it's based on a True Story, apparently there is some special on the doco channel that shows the real life story all the time.

7/10

Soapdish........

OMG this is not a new movie but omg it's funny..... I was laughing almost through the entire film. Lots of well known names in this.... Kevin Kline, Elisabeth Shue, Carrie Fisher, Whoopi Goldberg, and a very ravishing Cathy Moriarty, & Sally Field playing a bunch of delerious self important soap opera stars on a long running daytime soap....

6/10

the seige

Entertaiing and pretty decent pre 9/11 film dealing with muslim terrorism in NY. Was pretty decent and quite interesting where it's on the money and where it's wrong with how things went and are and america dealt with the threat.

OMG I love this film so good and the acting is great........

But lately have you noticed nearly every US drama has terrorism as the elephant in the room? NUmbers, CSI, NCIS, all those shows are doing it....... it's like America wants to have a boogeyman to be scared of, and to fight.

well it's contemporary now. what made the seige interesting is how it's contemporary but being pre 9/11 it's facts are distorted.

anyone know if the bruce willis film 'hostage' is any good?

Just because it's a contemporary theme means nothing... Hollywood is using it like propaganda.

Hostage is Ok...... If you like Bruce Willis movies. The only ones of his I like are all the Die Hard movies and The Fifth Element.... The last 30 minutes of Hostage however had me going WTF??????? It just felt like a letdown.

Movie and tv propaganda has been around for ages. Did u ever notice that nearly all bonds enimies were communist/Russian?

He's in lots of other good films!

The Wrong Man(or lucky number slevin), Sin City, Twelve Monkeys, there's the whole sxth sense (first timeyou see it) unbreakable thing. pulp fiction.

even things like the surrogates was decent. although it's more a small independent film that a blockbuster.

Armageddon while being the most scientifically inaccurate film ever made is entertaining albeit cheesy.

He also pops up in cameos in good things.

I like Armageddon........ I like all the hardware.... Interesting at the time they were doing filming they were not allowed to film behind the B2 bomber........ I wonder why that was such a big issue because now they film the thing from almost all angles..........

I like Avatar too it's grown on me..... I like it mostly for the hardware...... I wanna know if any of that stuff is beyond today's technology.

Oh and lots of continuity gaffs in Avatar they were never consistent about the use of the masks.

apparently with avatar everything is pretty much real world based. Except the avatar aspect, thats the far-fetched thing, who knows if it's possible.. the combining og human and alien dna wouldn't be. who's to say aliens would have dna, and it wouldn't be compatible. Unless all life had a shared origin, a universal pan spermia thing... but even then no.... But the spaceships, the mechsuits, helicopters things ect, all real world based.

The floating mountains, apparently the magnetic field needed for that would rip the iron out of your blood.

Obviously they had some kind of shielding. :)

Interestin that the helicopters are real world based. I wonder why no one has tried that design..

Speaking of which we have fly by wire where flying an aircraft has been reduced to a few simple controls I am surprised that they haven't done that with helicopters.... I mean one control to go up and down and the other to go forward, back, left and right.....And use a computer to control the tail rotor........ Just a thought.

Yeah but that was a reflection of the cold war days....... After 1990 Bond's enemies became super rich industrialists

and now is a reflection of the times aswell...at the moment Terrorists are the main evil in the world according to america and britian at the moment- just like communisim was in the 80's

I'm a Bruce fan, I'll watch anything he's in - just in case. :)

Moon

Sam rockwell stars as a helium 3 farmer on the moon all alone finishing a 3 year contract waiting to go home. I'd heard a lot of good things about the film and i liked it.. it just didn't meet expectations. It's an interesting story and idea. I just expected more tension and atmosphere.l It was well made and look good otherwise. It's one for sci-fi even when it's not all wiz bang and more about concepts and ideas. Just didn't live up to expectations. Was still interesting and enjoyable. I actually expected it to be more cerebral, mysterious and not so clean cut, oh wells.

Saw Iron Man II. It was decent, slight dissapointment but not what critics have claimed. Sam Rockwell is a genius, Scarlett Johannson is amazing. Great performances from all, very funny movie. Some major script problems, though. It seems to jump illogically from place to place, like they were too lazy (I'm going to go with too rushed) to write a logical, flowing script. John Favreau made some pedestrian directing mistakes, and a whole host of silly mistakes were made across the board. Terrible plot and characterisation continuity, terrible continuity of shots (in one scene Scarlet begins shaking a martini, they cut for literally one second and cut back and she has a filled and garnished martini glass in her hands, while in other scene wine glasses regularly disappear from a table and a waiter mysteriously vanishes mid-pouring of wine). Some other silly things as well, which genuinely annoyed me but most would not notice. In particular, the use of a screen wipe at the end of the movie when the rest of the movie had just used standard cuts. I hate screen wipes at the best of times, but it stood out like a sore thumb here.

Decent movie, though.

The film was rushed into production and it did show.
Marvel has their laid out plan and so needed it to be released this year. Jon Favreau was even against doing it so quickly and publically said it was a bad idea unyil he signed on. Notice he didn't take the option to do another marvel film anytime soon.

It's like the transformer sequels. Michael Bay didn't want to do the second so quickly but they basically made him an offer he couldn't refuse. It showed. Although more story & structure wise no so much directing wise. This was because the writers strike happened so with a loose story idea bay basically spent that time pre-vising and planning the action, scenes and production design. Then in the couple months before shooting the writers wrote a film around that.

They have rushed the third again but it doesn't have the writers strike and they seem pretty aware of where the second went wrong. I expect it to be better.

Anyways, yeah with Iron Man, they want to do something a bit more, but you can see where there's a lot of good ideas they never quite cracked the story or did much more new with it. It needed time. Transformers 2 had the fast pace and visual side nailed that the fact the many good ideas not realised or properly done didn't stand out aswell. Even though it's a mess of a film.
