Looks sinister, AK was so excellent, and how cool is Jackie Weaver's new career as a result of the freaky movie. He is great at intense suspense.

Battle For Terra

Cute little animated film about the last humans looking for a new home but not being cute about how they want this new home. Came out before Avatar but the story is similar. I liked it.
 
We went and saw Nebraska with friends a few weeks ago, on their suggestion. It was wonderful. Bruce Dern's performance was brilliant, as was June Squibb's. A delightful, gentle film about family and being human and well worth a look.
 
Watched Devils Knot tonight. Now I knew about this publicised case before hand so the film was disappointing to me. But the case was quite complicated so how do they pull it off in a film? Point is they didn't
 
My most convenient local cinema has closed to rebuild - for 2 friggin years, WTF??? Chadstone Hoyts.
It was my easiest meet up for a movie place.

And I really wish we had Village closer, Hoyts sucks.

It's been about a month since it closed for renovations. I think I went on Wednesday 16th June which happened to be the first day it was closed, just my luck. lol :mad:

You can try Southland which is about 10 minute drive or Forrest Hill which is also about the same.

I prefer Hoyts cinemas tbh, I can't quite put my finger on why I don't like Village cinemas but I just don't.

LOL - wonder if we have ever met? Or passed each other, we should have a BBB sticker for our totes or something:) what do you look like???
So now it's Palace/Classic for me. Elsternwick/Brighton
Chady is just convenient to meet my sis for a regular catch up, she lives out in the boondocks - chadstone is the end of civilization, last outpost I'm willing to meet up at.
 
Southland/Forest Hill - eeks, maybe Jam Factory, I have no idea where forest Hill is even.
Village - gold class is far superior.
Hoyts theatres are dingy/dank, and their goldclass sucks. And they couldn't organise even a kids party.
They never have proper info about anything - like special events and stuff.

Village - stuff like Dr Who 50th, Village had all the info I needed to book and grab a good seat. I think it was shown in some Hoyts but who know they were so useless.

Village gives me free tickets when I complain about anything :), Hoyts just stare at me like duh I can't help it tough see ya.

I like to think I look like a young Johnny Depp but other people may have a different opinion. :whistling:

Hmm seems like you're allergic to the outer suburbs. :pompus: :biggrin: I personally now go to the Melbourne Central complex to catch a movie at Hoyts. I've been a loyal customers for many years and get gifted a lot of freebies in return. :)

Forest Hill is arguably closer to the inner city, it's further up north relatively close to Box Hill. Never been there myself but that's where Hoyts sign recommended people should go.

Best of luck in deciding on a new meeting place kxk, looks like there has to be a bit of compromise mostly on your part. *evil grin*

I like to think I look like Tahan - but I don't.

And so, no we have not passed each other by, I would have stopped and stared at young Johnny:):):)
 
Well, sadly, I don't look like anyone but my mother, really. But she kind of looked like Lauren Bacall if the lighting was right.

I'm a Brighton Palace gal, or The George, or The Astor, or Southland, or The Classic, or Jam Factory, or Rivoli, or Nova. I've even been to Forest Hill! There's so much to choose from in the south-east of good old Melbourne.

Clearly, I'm anyone's! No loyalty at all, when it comes to viewing fillums.

(Oh, and the last movie I saw was The Trip to Italy. Before that was The Grand Budapest Hotel, which was fabulous.)

Well, this isn't the last movie I saw, by a long shot! But how great is this opening scene from Empire of the Sun, directed by Steven Spielberg. That lovely young boy soprano is Christian Bale. A brilliant actor even back then. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favour, and watch it.

 
...so with Noah... is it about the story or just about how good the special effects are?... the previews look awesome as far as the special effects go but is it worth going to see it because of the actual story within the movie?... unfortunately Russell Crowe isn't the greatest actor in the world... was he any good as Noah?... cheers.
