Episode I'm A Celebrity! AU (2018) - Episode Discussion

...oh well... another episode over and we have to now wait until Sunday... bummer!... I loved that boulder challenge... that was fun to watch... so thanks for the fun tonight and see you when Green FINALLY goes in!... bastards!... cheers.

I wasn’t particularly sympathetic to Bernard Tomic but then woke to this Facebook post by a colleague. It is perhaps a little “preachy” but we are priests, lol, and I think my mate Graham makes an interesting point.
Excellent post. Absolutely spot on. When I lived at Boggabilla it was almost an epidemic.

This Green Mundine thing is just crazy.

I honestly have no idea how this might turn out. I actually want them to become friends but it just seems so unlikely. This could be great TV

...it would be nice to see them become friends (if they are not already of course ;)) just so that Mundine looks like a better person for it from what you've told us before about his other side adsyj... as I said yesterday... this is his chance to prove himself to us... Danny Green seems like a nice enough guy already so it's all up to Mundine I guess?... cheers.

His main problem seems to have always been, one role, fill it or else, for his family and hanger-ons.
and the family are never going to discourage him from looking at tennis from the $$ point of view

I remember him having a go at Tennis Australia for not supporting him AND his family ... I think the accommodation provided to them wasnt good enough or something like that ... and it annoyed me because even at that point he was big noting himself more than was appropriate...

Exactly. He's been conditioned from a young age to be the golden ticket for them all, bugger what he wants out of his life, proved in the show.

Hey @crimmy ........quoting you
He's won and been runner up in the Apia International in Sydney in 2013 & 2014
He's won the Claro Open, Bogota Colombia in 2014 and 2015
He was runner up in the Abierto Mexicano Telcel, Acapulco, Mexico in 2016

Do you think it is possible Tomic's main problem is he is not that good, never has been that good, and never will be that good?
And having hotshot Nick and the 18 year old shining he is just a bit player now, where he was once our great hope?

Have often wondered how forever 2nd/3rd place cope, as when you have legends beating you, and no hope of ever beating them
I think both he and Kyrigos were given way too much glory too early, too young ... and what happened? Kyrigos has admitted to tanking in tournaments ... where is the sportsmanship? the respect for not only the game but their competitors?
They both have talent but Tomic is never going to amount to a great player until he gets his head truly in the game OR out of it. People keep saying “he’s only 25” ... sorry but that doesnt wash with me

Maybe he needs to be away from family and other hangers on, engage a good sports psychologist and train to get his body and mind fit and healthy ... but I cant see how you do all that is necessary unless you love the game

It is a bit of a worry if all they really cared about was keeping Tomic in the jungle at all costs instead of his mental health O_O. Yes he has stuffed everyone around and has made a mess of the plans for the show but that is also a gamble on this type of show and like I said before in my previous post it is only a TV show at the end of the day. Nobody should be forced to do something against their will and there are other celebrities participating who are just as important. Sometimes you get duds like Tom Arnold and sometimes you get unexpected gems like Fiona O'Loughlin. It is the nature of the show. It will always be a gamble entertainment wise who you put in there. Mundine so far has been quite boring even though he is a big name so big names don't necessarily mean they are going to be entertaining. If they want more big names for ratings they should go out and get them then. Replace Tomic with another big name. Tomic is allowed to change his mind and leave. He was leaning towards dropping out even before the show began so they can't be too surprised it has went this way and he was probably pushed in to it being told it would get better once he got in. That's not always going to happen. At least he gave it a go. The show can at least say they had him for a little while.
Tonight Fiona mentioned she was supposed to do the show 2 years ago but pulled out... they must have contingencies ...shit happens after all. He is a grown man who made the decision to push on with it regardless of his doubts (not sure how much it was worth to him but that would have been a big factor in his decision making process as he surely keeps talking about the $$. He is responsible for the decision to go ahead.
