Housemate Hunt 2014

"In 2012, I went all the way through, I even did all the promo shoots, I was on hold to be a latecomer intruder a few weeks into the show but they held me back at the last minute and I found out last year when I auditioned, they told me, 'Oh, we really wanted to put you on the show last year but Nine said, 'Oh, he's a bit controversial, a bit risky'. They didn't want any drama for the first year," he said, saying the streak on the tour plane was just one of the things that might have frightened Nine.

And still they picked someone as nasty as Benjamin to go in and bully everyone?

Well a bigger budget hopefully means a better house?

Anyway good luck to any forum members who are having a crack this year!
I am auditioning on the 27th April in Melbourne, I won't expect to get in but I am curious about the people who go, I am a people watcher, I bet there will be a bunch of crazy out there people who are not really that in real life, but then I can be a bit sarcastic at times, and get a laugh out of people like that, I also am willing to bet that 99% are under 30 LOL

Sonia said they are looking for people over 30 this year, I think 50 should be the cut off limit, we dont want another Terry or Terance again.

Good luck with the audition.

BIG Brother is coming to the Border and he’s looking for parents and professionals to populate his house.

A crew from the reality television show will host Albury auditions next month for the program based on sealing 14 adults in a house for up to four months with a chance to win $250,000.
Executive producer Alex Mavroidakis said he was looking for unusual characters.
“Albury was an obvious place because I’m trying to get to untapped pockets of the country,” Mr Mavroidakis said.
“I’m hoping we see the types of people we don’t see at a lot of at other Big Brother auditions.
“I’m looking for over-30s, parents and professionals. They’re people we always struggle to find because obviously they’re busy people.”
Nominations can be made at bigbrother.com.au or people can attend Rydges Hotel from 11am on April 15.
Mr Mavroidakis said would-be housemates would be given several challenges and exercises and there would be discussion topics.

Thanks guys.. Unfortunately I didn't even make it past round 1 this year :(
Some nerdy/footballer guy in his early 20's who look like he was dressed up to go out and drink craft beer at a trendy club made it to round 2 in my group and a girl who is vegiterian and seemed to have angst also moved on from my group and a guy who is gay and spiritual.. Blah blah
I met both Ben from Brisbane and army guy Matt from last years big brother.. And saw ep Alex running around a bit.
The numbers are down by a lot this year in terms of how many people turned up this morning to audition.
And they were pairing up anyone who came in as a couple or within a group.

Oh well.. 3rd time wasn't the charm for me.

There was a huge amount of "hipsters" in the crowd this year.. A few fem gays that stood out and of course the one or two odd balls in the crowd that each had their own unique quirk. And then just some plain boring people.
I also had 2 18 yr old girls in my round one group... One directioners :/
Omg I wanted to shoot myself listening to their recounts of almost getting up close and personal with Harry styles.
Cringe cringe..

but Harry is so hot  maybe you should have banged your head against a wall to get noticed, if only by the medics :)

i'm sorry Robbie :( this just means you will have to come back here when the season starts and entertain us, we'll appreciate you :D

Please don't tell me that those 18 year olds got through to the next round, that sounds like TV hell.

Sucks you didn't get through, would you bother going back again tomorrow??

Interesting the numbers are down this year, I wonder if this will be a trend at all auditions, could be indicative of something future viewership.

HAHA.. thankfully the 2, One directioners.. Didn't make it past round one either. Thank god!

And nah, I won't be going again tomorrow.. it's too far out of my way to travel back into brisbane again tomorrow.
Though, I am pretty sure I know where I might have made a mistake with an answer I gave today, that would have swayed them to say no to me.
If i could.. I would have made the opposite choice to what i had chosen and would do it again.
But.. nah, I've been and done it for this year and they said no... so I shall leave it at that.

It shall be interesting to see how the ratings go this year and it will be good now, just to sit back and wait until BB finally does return back to our screens.

What sort of things did they do in your audition group? the regular?

Don't stress about your answer. If you were being yourself, and it was a genuine opinion, you definitely shouldn't change it. What kind of question was it?

Yeah.. more or less it was just the regular set of round one type of scenario/questions..
We all sat in a semi circle to start off with.. held up a number between 1 & 4 and had to tell how many interesting facts about ourselves in a quick response.
Then they had us stand up and they had 2 little cones on the floor.. 0ne said "100%" and the other was "0%" with 50% being the middel
and she threw out some opinion statements that we had to stand by the cone that represented our sort of opinion stance.
[^This is where I thought I made my mistake.. the statement was.. "Do you think that you are lying about yourself, to make yourself happy?"(or something like that)]
Turns out.. I was the only one who stood at 100% on that.. LOL

Then we did a "yr 10 drama" type game as a small group and then finally we sat back down and she asked some point blank statement questions
that we had to open up and reveal about ourselves.
Lasted 20 minutes all up.
Thats pretty interesting. I never did those sort of things last year at in my audition group. The only thing that was similar was the cone stance question.

I am sorry to hear that Robbie. At least you can sleep easy knowing you tried! Could you please do me a favour and expand a little more on the 3 people who made it through to Round 2? What were they like and why do you think they made it through? Was it obvious they would make it through? Were the producers focusing on them a lot throughout the audition? What do you mean by nerdy/footballer? That description kind of contradicts itself haha.

Also forgot to ask. Are they still doing the audition sheet marking with the highlighters or something similar?

haha sure, first I'll start off with the "nerdy/footballer".. lol
As I previously mentioned earlier.. the first thing in round one that we had to do.. was hold up either 1, 2 ,3 or 4 fingers.. and depending on how many fingers were put up.. we had to rattle off that amount of interesting facts about ourselves.
So this guy.. early 20's.. skinny jeans and a dressy shirt that was buttoned up to his collar and dressy looking shoes along with the thick, black rimmed hipster style glasses that gave him a nerdy/clark kent type of look.. (he actually said that he dresses as clark kent often because people say he looks like him) He said as his interesting points about him.. is that he is unique because he is athletic and plays football (afl) but his personality is that he is a nerd at heart and he finds it hard when all his fellow sports mates can't talk about comics and games etc when that's what he loves.

The 2nd girl.. the vegetarian, seemed quiet at first, but proved to be very opinionated and she always made sure to voice her self.. and quite often.. her opinion was against the crowd. She was kinda short and small... but has the kick and punch to her personality.
And the 3rd guy took awhile for him to shine.. but once a question about the death penalty came out and we started discussing religion,
he came out of his shell to reveal to us all that he came out to his family as gay a few years ago.. but he had to hide it for so long to protect his family and their religious beliefs. But he said he's not christian or any of the big name religious.. just more so spiritual in his beliefs. He was a tall guy and in his 30's.

I think once it was all over.. from our overall group, it was obvious that they would go through, but that came down to the fact that those 3
seemed to be that bit more outspoken and opinionated on what they stood for.. they put their voices forward more often and showed that confidence to the casting producers.. Unfortunately for me.. I'm not an extravert and I can't always get my opinion out and loud enough to be heard when you have these others who talk right away. Though it wouldn't seem like the casting produce had singled those 3 out at all... they did give us all our chance to be seen and heard amongst all of us.
