Annabelle Arden, Maeuve's sister (how do you spell that name?).
Anyway, that is the spooky girl I thought might be Masie's character in the new series.

Where has she been? Just another missing link moffism.

And, if River never ever says sweetie a la ab fab again, and no more spoilers ....and is cool Professor River only as she could sometimes be, yes. Let Peter be the naughty one, all that girly crap annoys me.

I hope the rumours that Captain Jack will be back are true though.

......the 'companions falling in love with The doctor' days are well and truly over now thank God..

So @Mr Stickyfingers , you are a great big romantic softie - yet you hate the Doctor having romance or bitter sweet heart breaking love and such?

...yes I do hate him being all flirty and romantically inclined with the young female companions because of a couple of reasons really... it's been done to death with Rose/Martha/Amy and slowly Clara too... thank God that Donna didn't go there that's all I can say... she kept it a 'mates' only relationship much to her credit...it's just been so done to death in my opinion... I think that even The Moff saw that too... hence Capaldi being the Doctor as he is... a fatherly figure... (hence his fatherly type protection of Clara from Danny Pink)...

...that brings me to my other reason why... I remember watching Dr Who's first ever episode Live as it went to air when I was about 10 years old in England all those years ago... The Doctor was an old grandfatherly type figure and that has sort of stuck with me all of my life... THAT has always been my idea of how The Doctor should be... don't get me wrong... as you all well know David Tennant is my most favourite Doctor but I never liked the inferred romances and flirtations with his companions because I've always thought of The Doctor being like that oldish stern gruffy old manish guy lol!... (maybe I'm just an old fart set in my ways?... lol!)... anyhow... that's sort of why... cheers.

...sorry Meglos but if I hear another 'hello sweetie' or 'spoilers' I will scream my lungs out and will pierce my eardrums with hot skewers and superglue my eyelids together!... she does my head in with those phrases... as a Doctor Who character she is sort of okay but a tad bit too over the top for my liking but please... Moff... bring her back as a mute and I'll be okay with it!... seriously Moff... I mean it or I'll... I'll... well anyway... I'll just shut up now lol!... cheers.

ABC TV Highlights - Week 39
Sunday September 20 to Saturday September 26
The highly anticipated ninth series of Doctor Who explodes onto ABC TV and it promises to be one hell of a journey.

During this electrifying new 12-part series, the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) is joined by Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) for time travel on a cinematic scale. Having the time of their lives, the pair meets new and old monsters, and embark on a journey that takes them to deadly alien planets, creepy underwater bases, Viking villages, a global Zygon uprising, and which leads them through hidden alien dens to the very end of time itself.

Plus, the Doctor will come face-to-face with Missy (Michelle Gomez), a city of Daleks, deadly mercenaries called the Mire, terrifying ghosts, and far more.

As previously announced, taking up guest roles in the new series are rising young star Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), and comedian and award-winning writer Reece Shearsmith (An Adventure in Space and Time, The League of Gentlemen). Plus UNIT are back with Jemma Redgrave and Ingrid Oliver (Osgood) also returning for series nine. Also confirmed for guest appearances are Rebecca Front, Rufus Hound, Paul Kaye, Joivan Wade and Sophie Stone.

The ninth series has been written by lead writer Steven Moffat, Toby Whithouse, Jamie Mathieson, Peter Harness, Mark Gatiss, and new writers, Sarah Dollard and Catherine Tregenna; and directed by Hettie Macdonald, Daniel O'Hara, Ed Bazalgette, Daniel Nettheim, Justin Molotnikov, Rachel Talalay; and produced by Tracie Simpson, Derek Ritchie, Nikki Wilson and Peter Bennett.

Could that Game of Thrones girl Masie be Maeve - they look alike, and Maeve is cool and special.

And the thing that most annoys me about River - the relationship between her and the Doctor is stupid, has no substance, she is obsessed by him, the usual, but he.......well Mrs Doctor is a marriage of convenience, he is not in love with her at any point in time we have seen.

@Mr Stickyfingers there is only one true romance in Nuwho, Rose & 10, matt & clara could have, should have and would have but alas...timing is wrong. All the rest is just puffery - but also who wouldn't fall in love with that brain
Oh and Doctor/TARDIS big love. Did old doctors flirt?

And, I am in love with all of the Nuwho Doctors, bar one Chris E, add in Peter Davies. And Capaldi I love him too, he is sexy.
The Doctor is no longer just an amazing brain and professor type - he is now a romantic action hero, with an even more supersonic brain

Interesting how this series has dealt with the awkward difference in their ages by going on an exploration of the complex relationship, and the roles of companion/doctor, constantly shifting.

...you may have a point there KIK... they do look similar... perhaps The Doctor travels into the future and meets her older self as you are probably reasoning?... I could see that happening... cheers.

Personally I hope there is no connection. In The Forest Of The Night was my least favourite episode last season, the less stories with kids or fairies the better.

...do you know what Meglos?... I so agree with you on this... ESPECIALLY that episode... The Tardis is supposed to be a secret yet heaps of the students from the School were gallivanting around inside it!... it seems that every kid that goes in The Tardis is a precocious little 'know-it-all' brat... I'm so glad that someone else has brought this up... from memory... the only Doctor Who episode that I have really liked a kid being in it is with that scared little kid that was terrified of what was in his wardrobe that had those giant dolls in it and Amy became one of them... (I don't know which Matt Smith episode that was)... so yep!... I totally agree with you Meglos... cheers.

Exactly Mr stickyfingers. I'm tired and sick you elaborated what I was thinking better than i could be bothered at the moment :p It was still an ok episode, it's just not the direction I like seeing the series go in, the same as some of the Torchwood episodes that focused too much on kids and airy fairy monsters.
Night Terrors was great and creepy, not cutesy and fairytale.

"Fear Her" was the worst. My god that was a terrible episode. I feel bad saying that about Doctor Who because 99.9% of the time it's brilliant, but sometimes it gets it so wrong.

This is a bit of fun:
(Not sure if i've posted this before)

"Love and Monsters"

I think there's always 1 per series that is always unloved the most, usually being a standalone plot with no real integral parts going towards the plot of the whole series.

Series 1 Probably being Boom Town
Series 2 being Love and Monsters or Fear Her
Series 3 would being "42" or "The Lazarus Experiment"
Series 4 is difficult but I'd say "Midnight" would be the most likely case
Series 5 is also difficult but it could possibly be "The Lodger" or "Vincent and the Doctor" even though they have great fan bases
Series 6 being the "Night Terrors" episode with the doll house and the psychotic child
Series 7 perhaps could be "Hide" with the ghost buster style mansion thing with Clara
Series 8 I think sounds like its the Tree one

Any thoughts?

That's a pretty fair list. Of those, the weakest in terms of both my reaction to them and the general consensus by other fans would be : Fear Her, The Lazarus Experiment
Then there are stories which have strong fanbases, but I didn't feel : Love & Monsters, Vincent & the Doctor, "the tree one"
These were excellent but a bit under-appreciated : Midnight, 42
Also enjoyable but not classics : Boom Town, The Lodger, Night Terrors, Hide

I'd add to the list or stories that don't contribute much :
The Rings Of Akhaten (such a stupid title that I have to google it)
The Beast Below
The Idiot's Lantern
Nightmare In Silver
The Next Doctor
Mupp... sorry Daleks In Manhattan/Evolution Of The Daleks

The Rings Of Akhaten (such a stupid title that I have to google it)
I have to agree with you, rings of Akhaten I think was made when the Budget and time were running out, didn't really enjoy it but I love the song that the girl sings, it gets into my head.
Mupp... sorry Daleks In Manhattan/Evolution Of The Daleks
I never thought of it that way but now you mention it there are a few of similarities :D
The Idiot's Lantern
This is when the Doctor was running the Slick Back style hair cut which made my mum scream. Also the one where the Doctor officially roasted the father person, didn't place much towards the plot of the series though.

...you're talking about this girl aren't you Meglos?... she was truly terrible and it was a really weak episode... she was bad enough but when The Doctor ended up lighting the Olympic flame at the end that was just pure rubbish... such bad writing... as with you Meglos I hate rubbishing anything to do with Doctor Who but that did need to be said I'm afraid...

fear her 1.jpg fear her 2.jpg

...I agree with most of those lists but 'Love and Monsters/Midnight/The Idiot's Lantern' I am a great fan of... they are so off-beat with their storylines that they really appeal to me... but yeah... the rest I so agree with as being really weak episodes... cheers.
