No more, this Doctor is wild and untamed and erratic and I love it, must be that burst of new regens.Whovians, don't you love that this is a fandom you can revel in, be proud of, and tell any naysayers to just piss off - 50 years, multiple awards, illustrious and esteemed actors and creatives, smartest TV.
Yeah, just go-ahead and try and mock me.

Now - I love the Listen episode last night, but tell me - where are they?
Is that barn where junior Doctor was comforted by Clara....Trenselor????
Why was he there?

And isn't the photography/lighting in those Clara comforter scenes just superb - she is an impossible angel.

...yes they were in that same barn KIK... this is how I saw it... when Clara put her hands into that telepathic gel in the console of The Tardis and then Danny rang her on the phone it interrupted her train of thought and sent them back in Time to Danny's childhood instead of hers hence the reason for them meeting a young Danny Pink... that then led The Doctor with his obsession to travel forward to the other extent whereby it led to Orson Pink at the end of time... when The Doctor was rendered unconscious after opening the pressure lock of Orson's spaceship and that unknown entity was banging on The Tardis door Clara panicked and flew The Tardis again by putting her hand back in the gel of the telepathic circuit...

...and because the unconscious Doctor was the most prominent thing on her mind at that moment because he was unconscious it took The Tardis back to The Doctor's moment of his childhood when he first developed his obsessive fear that drives him for the rest of his life and that has been driving The Doctor all the way through the episode up to this moment in time... that there is the link to me for her being in that barn... when The Doctors guardians came in and the man mentioned that..."he can't just run away crying all the time if we wants to join the army"... she replies... "he doesn't want to join the army... I keep on telling you!"... in which he replies... "well he's not going to the Academy is he that boy... he'll never make a Timelord!"...

...that's when Clara realised that it wasn't the young Danny Pink again and that it was in fact The Doctor... he was out sulking in that barn away from all the other boys in the house (perhaps they had been picking on him or something?)... that's why he was in the barn and that's why Clara was there inadvertently... The Tardis had picked up her subconscious thought on her worry about The Doctor while she was connected to it through the gel...

...when The Doctor called out from The Tardis for Clara the young Doctor was getting up to investigate and she grabbed his leg to stop him discovering The Tardis and himself as an adult Timelord... (all hell would have broken loose and may have changed the course of The Doctor's history if he did)... so it was Clara that by sheer chance that was his greatest fear that drove The Doctor all his life!... a great twist methinks!... lol!...

...when on the day that The Doctor had decided to end the 'Time War' with that Universal Bomb in 'The Day of The Doctor' he went back to that barn in his childhood (perhaps as some sort of comfort zone for him?) where he had to face his greatest fear and conquer it all those years ago before detonating it... his fear started there (because of Clara grabbing his leg) the fear of detonating that bomb is where he wanted to end it all... hence both scenes in the barn... remember... Clara told him as a child that one day he will come back to that barn to face his greatest fear so sublimely she put that thought in his head which made him do it all those years later as the 'War Doctor'...

....Clara really came into her own in this episode... the way that she handled both The Doctor and Danny Pink as children was her dedicated vocation as a Schoolteacher coming to the foreground... her 'duty of care' to the welfare of them both was the most important thing in her life at those moments... it was one of my favourite 'Clara' moments that I have seen in this series... and you are right KIK... that lighting and photography of in that barn was spot on wasn't it?...

...anyhow... I hope that I have explained it all on my take of it all clearly enough... it may not be the right explanation but that's how I read it all lol!... cheers.

Nicely done @Mr Stickyfingers.

But - seems kind of weird he is in Trenselor - where the doctor is never meant to be, and supposedly the TARDIS will not land.
And why is Junior Doctor there, that is wrong.

It is a bit messy Moff.

Tonight - TIME HEIST, the bank robbery one, ooo I love it all.

I just bought a lot of crap, I cannot pass a CLOSING DOWN, sign.
Well it is nice crap, aqua glass jars, a great big pretty glass cookie jar...other bits and pieces

...well you know how The Moff works... he creates story arc-lines that stretch out over many many episodes... (Badwolf etc)... so I guess all will be revealed later on down the track so I guess that we will just have to wait and see eh?... I'm watching 'Time Heist' as I'm writing this... yes it is a great episode... (jeez I hate those memory worms... they make me want to spew)... anyway... now to continue watching the show... cheers.

That was a good explanation @Mr Stickyfingers cky, I think you're probably on the right track and way ahead of most people in understanding what it all meant. I never had a problem following what was going on with the Trenzalore stuff, but a lot of people did.
Incidentally there is a book which fills in some of the other adventures not seen on TV.

Hi @Meglos , thanks for that link looks awesome. And my bad spelling, I was too lazy to look it up, the correct spelling looks so much more impressive.

Hope you are recovering well, I read you are heavily medicated and post op.

Oh wow, only a couple of weeks now until new Doctor:)

...do what?... what Op?... what medication?... I hope all is well with you my friend?... ...that book looks really interesting by the way... I may have to look into that methinks!... cheers.

...the 'Time Heist' was quite an action romp wasn't it?... what a great episode... one line made my skin creep... just after that guy got caught intending to steal and they got that beast to empty his brain... Clara said... "he's crying"... to which The Doctor replied... "they're not tears Clara... that's soup!"... I found that quite chilling to be honest... as I said... great episode... cheers.

Thanks Mr Stickyfingers and KIK. Re: my operation, I mentioned it in the RUOK thread. I had a bit of surgery on Tuesday, was initially going to be day surgery but they kept me in as long as I could bear, until Wednesday afternoon. I'm fine now, just very sore and I hate being on any kind of medication, but the problem is fixed and I'm assured every day will be a little better than the last (as I hope you've found with your recovery too Mr Sticky).

And yes, Time Heist is a fantastic episode.

Yes, Time Heist is a very cool episode - looks like the Matrix, and a very nifty puzzle.
I do like the robot guy, he looks a lot like Orlando Bloom - he could come back to amuse Clara now dopey Dan is gone.

It will be interesting to see how they deal with dead Dan, do you think he was always for the scrap heap - or so deadly dopey he had to die?

Life - can be so frustrating.
Most of my day has been spent hanging on the phone, doing really boring crap.
I flip around the net when stuck on the phone, do you too? Used to doodle, now I flip images.

Cute Doctor stuff I found today:)

...my God KIK... those photos are so great lol!... to think that David always wanted to be Doctor Who as did Capaldi... it's amazing that it panned out that way isn't it?... Billie Piper looks exactly the way that she did as a child doesn't she?...

...I'm so glad about what you said about Danny Pink... his involvement with Clara and The Doctor was so bloody tiresome!... he slowed down the storylines in every episode that he was in as far as I am concerned... when The Moff done him in I wasn't too upset as you can imagine...but I have a theory about why The Moff had him in the show in the first place and why he killed him off... this is how I see it...

...when Matt Smith died and regenerated into Capaldi The Moff and his writers decided that Clara and any other future companions were not ever going to be a love interest for Capaldi's Doctor after all the previous companions forever doting over Tennant and Smith... Rose and Martha being all lovey-dovey eyed all over The Doctor became tiresome after a while...

...when Capaldi became the latest regeneration Clara couldn't exactly have the hots for a man old enough to be her father because it would look like a dirty old man whisking a young woman around Space for reasons only known to themselves so they wrote it in the opposite direction... he was this lost whacky weirdo Doctor that couldn't even drive The Tardis let alone be The Doctor that solves everybodies problems throughout the Universe so they made it that Clara had to 'look after' him until he fully regenerated in a 'proper' Doctor...

...they made it so that Clara didn't really like her new Doctor... Matt Smith had to basically beg her to stick with him in that famous phone call to her from God knows where that time... so the writers had by this time firmly established that it wasn't going to be a 'boyfriend/girlfriend' type of relationship ... it was more like a 'daughter looking after her father' type of relationship that was established at this point...

...cue Danny Pink... The Moff and crew allowed Clara to vent any 'boyfriend/girlfriend' feelings upon Danny and made The Doctor like a father figure telling her stuff like... "why are you wearing so much make-up?"... and "why is your dress so short?"... type of questions... which in turn showed all of us that they are definitely not in any 'romantic attraction' relationship but a 'father/daughter' relationship...

...now that all being said... once that relationship had been sorted out for us there was no more need for Danny Pink... hence his demise... The Moff has said that this years shows are more 'other world' adventures instead of being stuck on or around Earth all of the time... he wants The Doctor and Clara to have some great swashbuckling adventures this year to liven things up and make it more exciting for us... Clara has openly stated that her heart lies in being in The Tardis and venturing into the Universe rather than just being on Earth... if Danny was still part of her life then there was no scope for this to happen... she was always wanting to go back to Danny all of the time and it was just slowing down all of her and The Doctors adventures because of him being a constant interruption... therefore Danny was always going to die in the end...

...I guess The Moff and crew didn't really have much choice in the end did they?... the 'companions falling in love with The doctor' days are well and truly over now thank God... just Imagine Barbara the teacher falling in love with William Hartnell's Doctor in the first series or Peri/Ace or... or... or even Adric falling for their Doctors?... I mean... that would just be plain sick wouldn't it?... lol!...

...new Doctor... new dynamics between Clara and her new Doctor... new adventures to have this year have all been sorted out last year to make this years run easier... no more Danny Pink... everything is set to go... yeehaaaaa!.. let's roll peoples!... lol!... cheers.

I agree with your essay Mr sticky, except that I didn't mind Danny Pink in the slightest. He was a bit of a throwback to the Mickey Smith days, albeit not as good, but he basically served the same function - to add another dimension to the companion falling for the Doctor (though in reverse if you get my meaning).

...Clara and The Doctor are chained to some Pillars in a desert of an unknown planet and Clara says... we're going to starve to death!"... The Doctor reassures her in his usual impeccable style... "Nah!... of course we won't starve... the 'Sand piranhas' will get us long before that!"... hahahaha!... I love it!!!... funny as... lol!... "Clara you look lovely today!... have you had a wash?"... hahaha!... I love the witty banter between these two... the way The Moff and crew are binding these two together is so great...

...The Doctor as 'The Caretaker' was a great episode that I had forgotten to be honest... when The Doctor told Clara that he actually liked Danny Pink she was really happy that he did... it was like he got her 'fathers approval'... when that obnoxious student finally got a ride in The Tardis and got to look at the Universe from the open door of The Tardis and needed to vomit because she was air-sick... why the hell did she run back into The Tardis to spew?... the door was open... she had the entire friggin' Universe to spew out into in deep space so why not do it there?... dumb-arsed stupid girl!... if she spewed in my Tardis I would've shoved her out of the door and 'Wharhoogered' the hell out of there!!!!...

...that jump that Danny did over the robot was a tad bit over-exaggerated to me though... nobody could do a jump like that from the ground normally... no way... but it made for good television though didn't it?... lol!... Clara's explanation to Danny at what had just unfolded as being a rehearsal for a School play was really quite ridiculous I thought... I know that she was supposed to be clutching at straws to explain it all away but that really was weak wasn't it?... the look on Clara's face when she saw that it was The Doctor that had taken the job as the School caretaker was priceless though lol!... all in all... a pretty good show except a couple of downfalls that I explained earlier but I liked all of the fun elements in this one... they were really good... cheers.

ABOUT TIME, LOL excuse the pun, but what took them so long really.

I have a secret obsession with lego, so 2 of my favourite things come together,
My obsession began as an adult, with kids building stuff.

And my brother and I soon became a bit OCD with this TOY, where have you been all our lives, why didn't we have stuff like this, you can build anything, whole worlds.
And there are all these tiny details, and accessories, and decor, and people, critters, stuff unending, castles & dragons.

Alex Kingston returns to Cardiff to reclaim her role as Professor River Song for the highly anticipated 2015 Doctor Who Christmas special, part of BBC One’s essential seasonal viewing.

It’s Christmas Day in the future and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy village street, covered in icicles, awaiting its next adventure. Time traveller River Song meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas.

Day one of filming the eleventh Doctor Who Christmas special starts this week and is written by Lead Writer and Executive Producer, Steven Moffat, produced by Nikki Wilson and directed by Douglas Mackinnon (Doctor Who, Sherlock).

River Song made her first Doctor Who appearance in 2008 in ‘Silence in the Library’ and ‘Forest of the Dead’ and has appeared in 15 episodes to date.

Award winning Alex Kingston comments on her reappearance, “To be honest, I did not know whether River would ever return to the show, but here she is, back with the Doctor for the Christmas special. Steven Moffat is on glittering form, giving us an episode filled with humour and surprise guest castings. I met Peter for the first time at Monday’s read through, we had a laugh, and I am now excited and ready to start filming with him and the Doctor Who team. Christmas in September? Why not!”

Steven Moffat, Lead Writer and Executive Producer, adds, “Another Christmas, another special for Doctor Who - and what could be more special than the return of Alex Kingston as Professor River Song? The last time the Doctor saw her she was a ghost. The first time he met her, she died. So how can he be seeing her again? As ever, with the most complicated relationship in the universe, it’s a matter of time...”

The witty line-up of guest cast joining Alex for a magical adventure on the TARDIS will be announced over the coming months.

The BBC Cymru Wales produced drama will return to BBC One on Saturday, 19 September with a 12 episode series, followed by the Christmas special on Friday 25 December.

YASSSSSSSSSSS!!

The BBC have announced this morning that Alex Kingston is returning to play River Song this Christmas. The 11th Christmas special, which has started filming this week, is written by Steven Moffat, DIRECTED by Douglas Mackinnon and produced by Nikki Wilson.

It’s Christmas Day in the FUTURE and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy village street, covered in icicles, awaiting its next adventure. Time traveller River Song meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas.

Nooooooooooooooooo.
I am sick to death or her, and sweetie, and spoiler crap - but Moff is in love with her. I guess Capaldi and River had to have a moment.

I hope the rumours that Captain Jack will be back are true though.

......the 'companions falling in love with The doctor' days are well and truly over now thank God..
So @Mr Stickyfingers , you are a great big romantic softie - yet you hate the Doctor having romance or bitter sweet heart breaking love and such?

Your assessment I partly agree with, but....

I watched the re-runs looking specifically at the Doctor/Companion relationships, and I found a lot of romance between Clara & Matt, and River was mostly annoying with him.
Both Matt's Doctor and Clara admit they fancy each other, throw away lines you miss, but they are there.
And Matt - once he solves the Impossible puzzle, is all over clara a lot, lots of kissing and hugging and caressing.

And both are kind of a left feeling robbed, Clara is sort of part of the Doctor, and it will be interesting when she does leave to see how that is dealt with.

Also, there is a remnant of the Matt Doctor left, thus the first date line - robbing a bank, beat that.

My opinion is that Matt's Doctor and Clara, were beginning to be boyfriend/girlfriend, that can't be now, so they made Capaldi dismiss it yet miss it and cranky and weird to distract from all that.

And so many fun and fantastic moments on making me laugh lately DW:
last night, teeny TARDIS and THING
when strax hits Clara in the head with the paper, 50th
and the banter, and wit being flung fast and furious from Capaldi

I know people on here are a bit sick of River but I love her, I agree it was getting a bit much with the Matt Smith episodes, but it's been awhile now and it will be great to see her interact with a new Doctor. Maybe she's met him before, maybe she won't find him attractive, maybe he won't find her attractive... It should be an interesting dynamic.
