@nutmeg, thanks for the kind words about my reviews. I feel a bit self conscious about them sometimes, like I should just say something like "yay I loved it" and not be so long-winded, but you've made me feel better, like I'm not waffling total crap. As I've said before, I really enjoy yours too, you always highlight a few things that I missed. In particular you seem to have a good eye for funny bloopers. I agree with you that the animated recons are not necessarily better than the telesnap ones.

..I finally get the time to speak about the latest episode!... first of all I have to say that I'm sooooo happy that The Master did not regenerate into a voluptuous gorgeous blond super model type of character... I'm so happy that he regenerated into a dowdy 'Mary Poppins' type of figure because that would've thrown me off completely as accepting a female Master... speaking of The Master coming back as a woman... could that be like a tribute for all of the Whovians that were chomping at the bit for the next Doctor to be a woman instead of Capaldi?... just a thought on my part...

...I had to laugh that when the Cybermen were standing in the streets while The Master and The Doctor were talking that passers by were taking 'selfies' with them... (they ended up pulling guns on them lol!)... funny as!...

..."He's (The Doctor) on the payroll!"...
..."am I?"...
..."technically"...
..."how much?"...
..."shoosh!"...

...pure gold to me!... lol!... I was glad to see Kate-Lethbridge'Stewart and Osgood again... I love Sanjeev Bhaskar as Colonel Ahmed but thought that he was soooooo under-used in his role!... I was disappointed that I never saw much of him at all... the fact that Osgood died shocked me!... I actually thought at the beginning when she walked on that she was going to be groomed as the next Doctors companion once Clara went to be honest... (if she goes?... that is what's going to happen according to the rumours)...... hence the reason that I was shocked and saddened by her death...

...who would've thought that the Dome of Saint Paul's Cathedral would open up like that?... amazing!... Michelle Gomez as Missy is absolutely brilliant in the role... I hope that she comes back in future episodes... I really do!... I wasn't too fussed when Chris Addison (Seb in the Nethersphere) was zapped... he really was giving me the irrits to be honest...

...that guy in the Morgue when the dead bodies were trying to get out of the lockers must have been kacking his duds big time!... that would've so freaked me out if I was there and that happened I can tell you!... seeing Danny Pink picking up that piece of paper in the Morgue as a Cyberman made me sit there in total disbelief!...

..."where are we going to... 'Cloudbase"?... asks The Doctor...
..."you mean... The valiant"?... K-L-Stewart corrects him...
..."Cloudbase was The Thunderbirds!"... Osgood informs him...
..."It's Captain Scarlet... not The Thunderbirds!"... Captain Ahmed says in correcting Osgood...

...more pure gold to me!... lol!... when told that The President was on the plane The Doctor said...

"we don't want Americans bombing around the place... they'll only start praying!"...

...the look on The Doctors face when he found out that HE was the President of the world was priceless!...

...I was looking at just how many sugar cubes that The Doctor was putting in his cup of tea and just had to do this...

QXgMjS.gif

...that was a brilliant lie that Clara told to keep herself alive wasn't it?... ol' Danny came to the rescue eh?... good stuff!... I thought that it was a terrible thing to happen to Osgood... Missy was so parodying Hannibal Lector on occasions I felt... from this scene onwards...

View attachment 45487

...especially when she told Osgood that she would kill her within the next 60 seconds... again... such a shame that Osgood died in this scene... although Missy singing to the tune of Tony Basil's 'Mickey' just before that was quite funny...I am surprised that people are not remembering the Cybermen from past episodes... unless this is an alternative Universe type of scenario or something?... curious indeed!...

...Clara's time in the graveyard was genuinely creepy for me... Clara telling Danny as the Cyberman... (without her knowing that it was him)... that The Doctor was the only person that she would never lie to must've been killing Danny with or without feelings methinks... the Cybermen flying alongside the plane was very 'Ironman-ish' wasn't it?... when the Cyberman showed up at the planes window when The Doctor was looking out made me jump out of my skin!...

...Colonel Ahmed being pulled out of the plane window by a Cyberman and then KL Stewart being sucked out to apparently fall to her death was quite disturbing to say the least!... The Doctor free-falling from the plane into the Tardis was a bit of a stretch but I bought into it anyway...

...Danny really did hate The Doctor and what he represents doesn't he?... I never liked the character of Danny Pink too much but I guess that he's a major part of the story to show The Doctor for what he really is at times eh?... the final moment between him and Clara was so Rory and Amy-ish to me... sad but necessary I suppose... Missy's Mary Poppins entry into the graveyard was hilarious!... and she did it so well!... lol!...

..."Cyberdears... look at mummy!"... and making then do a sort of 'Simon says' type of routine... priceless yet again!... Missy's... 'Happy Birthday... Mr President'... Marilyn Munroe take off was quite clever again... 'go on... crack a smile... I want to see if your eyebrows drop off!'... comment... another rip snorter!... I saw of lot of John Simms' Master mannerisms at times in Michelle Gomez's performance... did anyone else see that or is it just me?...

...it was great to see the Sydney Opera House in shot when the clouds were burning up wasn't it?... I did notice that Missy mentioned Brisbane as one of the places covered by clouds at the beginning of the episode... I wonder if the makers of the show think that the Opera House is in Brisbane?... perhaps I'm just being too picky eh?... lol!...

...The Doctor saluting the Lethbridge-Stewart Cyberman... (her father)... was a big nod to his involvement in the show all those years ago was good wasn't it?... Danny sacrificing his chance to return back to life so that the young kid could be allowed to live so as to be able to go back to his parents in Afghanistan was a gut wrencher for me...

...Clara not telling The Doctor that Danny was not alive and back with her was a bit perplexing for me... I know that she didn't tell him because she didn't want to stop him going back home to Gallifrey but still... it didn't ring true to me... The Doctor losing his temper and smashing his fists on the console of The Tardis when he saw that Missy had lied about the location of Gallifrey was an eye opener wasn't it?... him lying to Clara about it was the same as her lying to him... perplexing for me...

..."why don't you like hugging Doctor?"... asks Clara...
..."never trust a hug... it's just a way to hide your face"... replies The Doctor...

...such a sad farewell for both of them for me... when Clara and The Doctor was talking about him becoming a King of Gallifrey... she said ... 'or even a Queen or whatever'... was she perhaps insinuating that this Doctor might be gay?... just a random thought on my part...

...nobody gets phased at all when a man steps into a Police Box and disappears in a crowded market place/mall?... oh wow!... simply amazing don't you think?...

...I really don't think that this is the last that we see the 'Impossible Girl' or Danny Pink somehow... Danny is back in the Nethersphere after all... and what with Nick Frost as Santa Clause popping in and asking The Doctor...'what do you want for Christmas?'... and all it kind of makes me think that they will both be back somehow... (although he did look like he was dozing at the console when that happened so I hope that the Christmas special is not just a dream!... oh and while I think of it... it was great to see a flash of Matt Smith on screen for a few brief seconds too!...

...anyhow... this has truly been such a mind blowing season for me... Peter Capaldi has excelled way above and beyond the call of duty as The Doctor for me for sure!... brilliant performances... brilliant stories... brilliant guests... kudos to all concerned and I can't wait for next years new episodes!... I just hope that they start earlier in the year and are more episodes this time though... roll on the Christmas episode I say!... cheers.
Great summary Mr Stickyfingers. Like you, I thought that Michelle’s performance was very John Simms, but I didn’t mind as I was sad to see him go, but delighted with the new Master. I doubt she’s dead, because if they were only going to use her for basically only two episodes, they may as well have made her another foe of the Doctor’s.

And your suggestion that the Doctor might be gay … it sounded a bit like that, but either way, there was enough weight placed on that small exchange that it sounded like we were supposed to know where the comment came from, which we don’t, so I assume all shall be revealed in the fullness of time ... and space, lol.

And MrStickyfingers, sorry to hear that your wife was unwell, and about your past stroke. Glad things are on the up now. Once Mrs Stickyfingers is fully recovered, maybe it's time to build that Dalek after all.

I know what you mean about writing the reviews, I sometimes feel the same way. And I get confused if I am addressing it to you or to everyone (e.g. you've seen it and know what I'm talking about, but should I explain more for others who haven't seen it either ever or for years, but without including huge spoilers), but as some of the posters here have been kind enough to say they like reading them, I don't worry too much now. Your reviews are terrific, you have nothing to worry about Margaret Meglos.

And apart from anything else, it is fun, isn't it?!!
(and sorry about butchering your heading when I quoted you above, oopsie)

...tomorrow morning isn't going to be the same is it?... wow!... I get to sleep in :(... I'm going to miss the feel of the Live viewing... I sure hope that the ABC do the same for the Christmas show and carry the experience on next season... they were like mini events to me... thanks once again ABC... you are true legends!... cheers.

...I loved John Simms as The Master... he really was brilliant wasn't he?... and you're dead right about Missy coming back... she's too awesome not to!...

...and thankyou so much for the kind sentiments towards my sweet darling wife and myself... she is recovering so well from her hip operation... she really is an incredible woman... I really am appreciative of all the things that she does around the house on a daily basis endlessly... washing clothes... hanging them out... taking them in... vacuuming... cleaning up dishes/ forks/ knives putting them in the dishwasher... taking them out of the dishwasher... etc etc etc... it's amazing just how much she does do... (I know now that I'm doing all of them at the moment lol!)... I don't mind doing it at all... she sure is worth it believe me!...

... I had to do it when she had her first hip done 3 years ago so I'm already partly trained up lol!... the only thing that I don't do is the ironing as I mentioned in a previous post in another thread lol!... (I don't do it right!)... the sister-in-law does it for us god bless her!... again... thankyou for the kind words nutmeg... (and also to everyone else that has said similar before... very much appreciated)... cheers.

...I watched the finale 'Death in Heaven' yet again for the 4th time... (believe it or not!... lol!)... and noticed something in the opening credits this time... you may remember how in the preview of this episode Clara was seen to be saying to a Cyberman that she was The Doctor... well guess what?...

...you know how usually in the opening credits you see Peter Capaldi's name up first and then Clara's and straight after you see The Doctors eyes floating through the vortex... well in the finale Jenna Louise-Coleman's name appears first this time followed by Peter Capaldi's name and then Clara's eyes appear instead of The Doctors!...

...here are the usual opening credits with Capaldi's name first and his eyes in it... this was from 'Dark Water'...

Mk3qvP.gif

...these are the credits from 'Death in Heaven'... with Gemma's name first...

hS2ymF.gif

...it makes me wonder if it was done by Moffatt as either a ploy to convince us that Clara really was The Doctor or possibly an inside joke between him and the crew to see if anyone actually picked up on it?... I guess that we'll never know really lol!... it took me 4 viewings before I noticed!... did anyone else pick up on it?... lol!...

...sorry about the poor quality of the Gifs... my Photoshop keeps chucking a fidder-fadder for some reason or other... it's in one of it's silly moods... cheers.

Thanks kxk and Meglos. It's not the end of the world, but it isn't much fun either. Last time, the burglars were there when we turned up at 11am and we heard them jumping out the back window while we were coming in the front door. Creepy. Well at least we got to keep the stuff they had bagged up ready to take, and we didn't get attacked walking in, so it isn't all bad. And kxk, sorry to hear about your robberies, but nice excuse to get a dog, lol.
It would be fun if BBBAWHOVIANS could all catch up one day, though I assume we are scattered all around the country, I'm in Victoria. Maybe when there is a big DW event somewhere we could all go and meet up then? Probably not likely we could all make it, but it's a nice thought.

...nutmeg that is horrifying for that to happen... it's just thankful that you weren't attacked as you said... some people are just plain total bastards... Karma will get them one day... people like that should rot in hell!...

...that would be awesome to all catch up with each other one day for sure... I'm in Sydney... where is everyone else from?... cheers.

Oh no @nutmeg ....getting robbed sucks so bad. I still haven't replaced stuff from 3 years ago.
Our neighbourhood had real run about then, we got hit twice - the fuckers come back when you have new stuff!
Insured, but OMG it is a pain.

Now we have a rotty:)

This made me think BBBAWHOVIANS - where are you all located?
We could have a nice little get together, and fish fingers and custard, but maybe anon is better.

Good news, after Saturday's repeat of the finale - something:)
5PM. SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER, REPEATS - Everything hopefully:)

The Doctor must sacrifice everything to save a town called Christmas from the Time Lord's greatest enemies.
CAST: Matt Smith

...oh sorry kxk... I just realised that it was your suggestion that perhaps we could all do a 'meet-and-greet' one day... as I just said in my post above... I'm in Sydney... cheers.

LOL
No worries @MrStickyfingers
It is all good, all mixed up in our Doctor Who soup - of love.
But boohoo, I am in Melbourne - Nutmeg:)

As you say @nutmeg, maybe sometime in the future we can gather for something special.
I was hoping David Tennant might bring his Hamlet here - not likely any more he is a busy boy.

And Sticky - clara's eyes, were mentioned on digitalspy, and that is what I mean about checking that site/forums.

Mostly posters like us, not encyclopaedia Doctor Who obssesives, a few here and there, but mostly enjoying the quality of this fine entertainment light heartedly.

Anyway, I watch the 1st time, then visit Digitalspy to see what I may have missed, and then I am armed for 2nd viewing.

OMG this show is such a gift, every little thing is so, so - fantastic.
And I adore that talented fans - like you Sticky, end up working for the show.
And how much care is put into even the titles...
I hope next Sunday is the beginning of the entire season repeated, I need to see it again, NOW

Meglos, let us know if anything really interesting pops up in the DVD extras, I am a bit envious. And let me know when you are ready for season two. Based on the hours summary bleachy_dude posted, this marathon will take us a few years, so no hurry, what’s another week or so, lol.
(I really need to learn how to tag people)

nutmeg, I've caught up on the DVD extras now and will be starting season 2 with Planet Of Giants tomorrow. As you say, no hurry, it doesn't have to be one episode per day. I think I'll watch one normal episode a day, then maybe take the rest of the week for the commentaries, production notes etc. The extras are fantastic. I learned that they had originally intended to get rid of Barbara at this stage, but eventually decided on Susan instead. No offence to Carole Ann Ford, but they definately made the right choice in the end.

Rewatching the finale, I was questioning Missy's reasoning for why she did all she did ... to give the Doctor an army so he would realise that they were both the same. Because when the Doctor was falling from the plane and Missy was watching on, she didn't seem bothered that he was going to splat on the ground, or however she put it, and was annoyed at Chris Addison for getting excited about the Doctor saving himself. And it was her army that destroyed the plane (one of my favourite scenes was the Cybermen on the outside pulling apart the plane, so much fun) which would presumably kill the Doctor. So it doesn't make sense to me. Hopefully the full plot will be explained when we next meet the Master.

And there is a comforting theory about Osgood's death (which was another of my favourite scenes ... flawed but chilling) which I'm sure some of you have already read. But for those who haven't ... at the end of Day of the Doctor there were two Osgood's ... the real one and the Zygon impersonator. So maybe it was Zygon Osgood who died? I hope so.

I never thought I'd be sad sleeping in on a Sunday, but it was so depressing on the weekend.

And thanks to Mr Stickyfingers for your concern, much appreciated. And your side by side gifs were great to see too.
I agree we should all try to meet up one day, as difficult as it might be ... it would be a hoot, we should revisit the idea next year, maybe when a cool DW event is on somewhere.
So kxk and I have started the Melbourne contingent ... MrStickyfingers Sydney ... and you others possibly elsewhere. *peters out*
My, this will be complicated, lol.

Soooo glad they kept Barbara, I love her.

...here is another clip from the Christmas show... and confirmation of something that we were wondering about...

...the confirmation is... Clara is still in the show but is this the last hurrah for her?...

...well there you go... cheers.

Now that big brother is ending too, any takers on a rematch project? I thought maybe we could take turns picking an episode or two to watch? Then discuss on here?

Might be fun to do a random watch based on suggestions. As long as we can all find the episode.

Honestly. I might start with Rose..fell in love with Eccelston acting with plastic arms...

But I'm open to all suggestions.

LOL

...lol!... I bet he/she noticed it the first time too!... it took me 4 viewings as I said lol!... kxk... usually when an episode has been on I always stay away from other Dr Who websites so that when I write down my thoughts and observations on the episode it hasn't been tainted by someone elses opinion... I sometimes read other websites reviews around 5 or 6 days later...

...I love to revel in yours and other fellow forum members postings in here first because going onto other high profile Dr Who forums are a tad bit too 'hostile' for me... as I've said before... I value and respect the opinions of everyone on this forum... no egos involved... just pure fandom of our precious Doctor Who!... and I'm with you totally about the ABC repeating the entire season... they've been so good to us so far... let's hope that they continue to do so... and thanks for the kind words to kxk... you're too nice!... cheers.

...Rose711... do you mean a random pick from Eccleston onwards or the entire series from day one?... the reason that I ask is that nutmeg and Meglos are already kicking along fine with the early stuff already... (both doing a fantastic job too of it if I may say so)... my forte' would be David Tennant's years to be honest but I would do reviews of the other Doctors obviously lol!... I'm up for it if your idea takes off... let's see if others want to join in and take it from there perhaps.. it's a great idea... count me in for one... cheers.

I would say a random show from any season as long as we all could watch it.
It would be an addition to the current researches going on.

I guess I just want the shared experience of watching people's favorite episode. Like a curated version of rewatching. Like a book group where the choice rotates.

Thanks @Mr Stickyfingers

@Rose711 You are welcome of course to join nutmeg and myself in watching the classic series, I'd love to read more opinions.
If you're thinking more of the "new" series, I'm sure if you announce what episode you want to watch, someone would join in. I would try to depending on time, and some of the more dedicated re-watchers would probably jump at the chance. Mr Stickyfingers for example rewatches certain episodes 3, 4 or more times and spots things I never would have.
So yes, great idea.

Ooo this all sounds good to me.

@Rose711 @Meglos

I own most of 2005 - 2010/12ish, and one oldie Caves of A, with Peter Davies - I haven't watched it yet, just bought it from a
DVD shop closing down.

I love all of the history ones, Shakespeare, Pompeii, Van Goh.

But you all know repeats, I hope the entire season & Matt's last - start next Sunday 5pm, Time of the Doctor
(Matt getting old sucked, so I only watched that one once)
