lol, I don't think it will be Sweetie.
I've barely looked online today in case of spoilers.
Really looking forward to this one.
Yes I still did not hear the name
So are we saying goodbye to this timey wime.y swirly wirily Doctor?????/
WHYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
Loved this episode. The John Hurt Doctor is the Valeyard isn't he? The dark side of the Doctor at the end of his regenerative cycle.
...I have voiced my opinion on previous posts about Steve Moffatt's writing of Dr Who and that I don't like the way he is taking the series as of late but I do have to admit it... that episode was great... well written with a myriad of twists and turns with Clara's story explained to a certain extent... the introduction of John Hurt as an incarnation of of The Doctor etc...
...one thing that I was happy to see was that he doesn't intend to change the shape or structure of the outside of the Tardis... he showed the Tardis as it is now at the end of the Doctors life... for that I am so grateful... I know that Moffatt has changed the design of The Cybermen / inside of the Tardis etc to keep the show fresh (although changing the Daleks so much from what they were was just so wrong to me)... but to see that the Tardis is never going to change outside was a total relief...
...I have a weird feeling that we're never going to see anymore of River Song again as with Captain Jack Harkness... it seemed to me that last night's episode was Alex Kingston's swansong... (I hope that I'm wrong in this)...
...most probably John Hurt's introduction as an incarnation of The Doctor is to answer the 'crack in the space time continuum' within the past seasons storylines... I suppose that he will also be included in the 50th anniversary episode to link all of the stories together... but as I say I was quite impressed with last night's episode... credit where it is due to Steve Moffatt... (I never thought that I would ever be saying that in all honesty lol!)...
...the return of the two annoying brats from last week peed me off but thankfully they were gone within seconds... (I actually liked that The Doctor got fooled by playing 'blind-man's-bluff')... I think that Moffatt is setting up Vastra / Jenny and Strax to get their own spin-off series eventually... (although they're not as much fun as Captain Jack Harkness was as a back-up companion in my opinion)... and thank god that we didn't find out the name of The Doctor... (I really thought his name was going to be 'sweetie')...
...I thought that the opening scene was hilarious when one of the people on Gallifrey said “What kind of idiot would try to steal a faulty Tardis?” as the first Doctor was fleeing Gallifrey... it so explained how in the early years of Dr Who as to why he had no control over the Tardis as to where and when he could land... very well done that scene...
...overall though... Moffatt did a great episode... I did enjoy it... cheers.
Is there an unsolved TARDIS mystery?
From commenter Sean The Sheep, something we'd not considered: "Remember that the TARDIS claims the Doctor did not steal it; it says it stole the Doctor. Therefore, Clara was acting as an agent of the Tardis when she directed Dr Hartnell away from a perfect TARDIS towards a defective one. That makes the TARDIS The Great Intelligence. Not immediately, of course, but we now know the Tardis will go bad sometime in the future: the past depends on it".
Steven Moffat, Jenna Coleman, and a freshly shorn Matt Smith were in New York last night (May 20) to accept one of the highest honors in media, the Peabody award. Doctor Who picked up a special Institutional Peabody award for its longevity and “evolving with technology and the times like nothing else in the known television universe.” Matt was seen sporting a shaved head for his latest film role in Ryan Gosling‘s directorial debut How to Catch a Monster, which also stars Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes, Saoirse Ronan, and Ben Mendelsohn.
My only problem with Steven Moffat's approach is that no one really dies. Well, none of the good guys.
I'm not saying they should, not at all. But if you are going to kill a character for dramatic effect, don't undo it with magic.
There was no need for Jenny to have been dead, if Strax can come along at any time & revive her. If that is possible, can the Doctor borrow that device to go around reviving everyone he liked who died?
