The spoiler is not in muds post. The spoiler text is only a link to an article on another website. The actual spoiler is much much longer than that one line he's posted.
It's really interesting...REALLY interesting. Not something you would ever guess in a million years and whether you love it or hate it, you'll definitely have a response to it. My first thought was nah, I don't like that at all but I'll reserve my final judgement until I see it on the screen.
Actually I hate the particular spoiler....... I think it's just massive retconning

Well I liked it.
Did anyone notice the camera pull back on the cybership it looked for all intense and purpose like a borg ship, with the levels of drones and such. Imitation is the greatest flattery they say
OK this episode was different. The Doctor has a crush on Clara..... Oooh. So again another episode of Horny Doctor. I can forgive them that, as it seems to be a whole theme this season. It's just bizarre.
Cybermen seemed like a real threat now, not just a joke. Gold now won't work on them anymore, and they've now had access to a lot of the Doctor's mind. That can't be good.
The episode was actually good. I enjoyed it for the most part.
I wondered what that gadget was at the end floating away from the exploded planet. Maybe we'll find out another time, maybe not.
next episode looks fun too.

I am Doctor of Borg Resistance is futile

Yep. I got a lot of Borg vibes aswell. Assimilating humans. Adapting to weapons. The hive mind. And like you said Mud, that wide shot of them all in that ship or whatever it was.
Nice episode though.
That little thing floating at the end was one of the Cyber mites wasn't it?

...I'm hoping that those two boring and annoyingly obnoxious kids are going to be forever dropped from appearing in any future episodes of Dr Who... they gave me the screaming irrits and what they really did for the story was a bit of a mystery to me... perhaps I missed something?...
...I couldn't quite accept that Clara would be able to take command of a platoon of 'soldiers' to protect them all from the Cybermen... just a couple of episodes ago she was unable to really look after herself in 'Journey to the centre of the Tardis' let alone command a platoon of 'soldiers'...
...as you all say... the 'Borg' comparison cannot be dismissed... a Cyberman that can speed up like he did seems totally wrong to me... why did the rest of the Cybermen take so long to get to the castle?... why didn't they just speed up to get there quicker?... and their 'updating' thingy is a direct ripoff from the Borgs 'adjusting' when getting attacked...
...it would've been a nice touch to see how the Doctor reacted when Clara turned up with the two boring kids in the first place... that would've probably been the best part of the show for me... Matt Smith would've put in a superb performance with that scene methinks...
...I think Matt did a great job of arguing with himself within his own mind and outside of it... when inside his mind I liked all of the Gallifreyan symbols in the background as shown below...
...if you would like to learn how to read Gallifreyan try this link...
http://www.shermansplanet.com/gallifreyan
...you can go on there and download a Gallifreyan name converter and then run it on your own computer... this is 'Mr Stickyfingers' in Gallifreyan...
...you can actually learn how to write Gallifreyan sentences on the link...

https://098a838e-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites...5dylAyKjNIFwIKdmrPJYNz4Z8Trxs=&attredirects=0
...what I imaginge is... if you could be bothered you could from now on probably identify any Gallifreyan writing in future episodes if you run it through the program that you have downloaded from the first link... just a thought... lol!... cheers.

This episode was a little bit Borg to me.![]()
I enjoyed it (but somewhat despise the cybermites !) and what I enjoyed most about it was how it dove-tailed into a convo I had with a guest the other night. We had just started watching the Star Trek "Generations" movie which heavily involves the borg and assimilation and all that and one of our guests asked me how would I fight and defeat the borg.
Somewhat to his dismay, I responded with the view that if indeed "resistance is futile'" then rather than engaging in somewhat standard warfare involving throwing life upon life into the fray until there was nothing left to throw, that a better approach would simply be to allow oneself to be assimilated.
"What, give up without a fight ?" he asked in near disgust, to which I responded by saying that, in order to win a war, it is often quite a needful and a useful thing to appear to lose a battle and that there was nothing new in that. That it wouldn't be "giving up without a fight" but rather "keeping one's powder dry". I also used the terms "trojan horse" and "self-sacrifice", etc.

"but you would be assimilated and taken over !" was his next response, to which I replied that, sure, my flesh could be taken over but the real me couldn't be touched but rather, at most, imprisoned to a degree "within", and that as a computer programmer (etc) my battle plan would be to fool the invading entity into thinking it had me when actually I would be busy learning from, corrupting, and taking over its own systems in order to surrupticiously interface and spread my influence throughout the rest of the hive until I could do my bit to either help put it to sleep or bring about its destruction ... even if it also meant my own destruction to achieve that greater good.
"Samson vs the Philistines" bringing down the temple roof on everyone including himself and all that.
The "self sacrifice" side of things didn't appear to sit too well with him and I presume he thought the idea somewhat mad

Come to think of it, I did use the acronym of "MAD".
Mutually Assured Destruction.

I was also prepared to argue a case FOR the borg, but it was clear that he wasn't enjoying even the movie concept of being assimilated, and prolly would have been somewhat freaked out if I'd said "why not welcome being assimilated ... wouldn't it be a quick way of seeking out strange new civilisations and boldly going and all that ?"

Anyhoo, it was both a lol and a bit spooky for lscp and I to sit down and watch Doctor Who tonight and see a whole chunk of what I was talking about the other night actually being acted inside the mind of the Doctor in living colour !

...I do see and understand your idea of allowing yourself to freely be assimilated by either the Cybermen or the Borg Derspatz but in both cases don't both of them take away all of your humanity completely according to the writers of both shows?... in both cases aren't they directly linked to either the Borg Queen or the leader of the Cybermen through one direct link to them through the collective hives type thingy?...
...being accepted by your captors as being one of them is a great tactic that would work for sure and has no doubt been done a lot throughout history for real but in these cases the captives have be altered or engineered to have no memory or recollection of their past... (although in one Dr Who episode a woman that was turned into a Cyber(woman) shed a tear because she slowly realised who she had become and what she used to be)... so I guess that there is a hint there to say that... (to quote yourself)...
...I guess that if there is an inch of humanity left 'within' then there is the chance that your plan would work... either way your post does open up a great question... would I allow myself to to willingly be captured rather than be killed outright?... I would allow myself for sure... at least there is always the chance to protect your family etc in one way or another regardless of how you do it... after all... in both cases if you refuse to be assimilated you are a threat and you are killed... what good could you do then?...
...your arguement sounds like a valid option to me... I'd allow myself to be assimilated for sure... cheers.

...while experimenting with the Gallifreyan translator that I downloaded I put three things into it... the first one is... 'Dr Who' written in Gallifreyan...
...this one is the speed of light which is in fact 299792.458 km/s...
...just for a laugh this is... 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'... which had to be written as 'superkalifragilistikexpialidokious' because you have to change any letter 'c' with either a 'k' or an 's' because the letter 'c' doesn't exist in the Gallifreyan alphabet apparently... cheers.

I have a question.
They never showed the platoon when they arrived, that was a few minutes in, but when Angie walks into their barracks the blonde woman says "where's your big sister" as she is referring to Clara but hang on they never met on screen before this.......
I'm still not comfy with Pervy Doctor. What's with that comment at the end of Silver Nightmare?
There's been too much of it this season and it's just not the Doctor to me.
Also did the Doctor start the Time War? I'm wondering if that's the big secret?

...Mud she never spoke to Clara but she did see her while Clara was standing behind the Doctor as he flashed his 'invisible paper' that said he was a 'Proconsul'... she can clearly been seen behind him although they never spoke...
...as for the 'pervy Doctor'... I have to agree with you on that... especially with the last statement at the end of that episode where he said... "...an impossible girl...a mystery wrapped in an enigma squeezed into a skirt that's just a little bit too... tight...what are you?"... that did sound really creepy...
...did The Doctor start the actual Time War?... good theory... my opinion?... more than likely... cheers.
...talk about a Dr Who blast from the past... get a load of this... cheers.
...and a notice probably from outside a cafe' or something... cheers.

...and a notice probably from outside a cafe' or something... cheers.

All this Star Trek talk is depressing.
I will not be assimilated.
Anyway, another great episode in a very consistant run of stories this half-season.
...lol Meglos... then you won't be buying these comics then?...on this link...

...the headline blurb is...
Star Trek/Doctor Who Comics Crossover Will Unite The Borg And The Cybermen
Date: Apr 17, 2012 | Author: David Wharton | Category: Sci-Fi
We told you back in February that a comics crossover between The Doctor and the crew of the NCC-1701-D was in the works at IDW Publishing, and sure enough the official confirmation arrived shortly thereafter. With the series hitting comic shops next month, we’ve got some more details about what the crossover will entail, and how it will unite two of SF’s most iconic mechanical menaces, Trek‘s Borg and Who‘s Cybermen.
![]()
Here’s the official plot description from IDW:
Launching in May, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION/DOCTOR WHO: ASSIMILATION² will feature fan-favorite villains the Borg and the Cybermen as they create an unholy alliance resulting in potential disaster for all humanity. Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise find themselves joining forces with the Doctor and his companions, with the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance.
The merging of Trek and Who should be fun for fans of both properties, and focusing on an alliance between the Borg and Cybermen is a clever way to tie it all together. And while the series is ostensibly a crossover between the modern Matt Smith version of The Doctor and the TNG-era Enterprise crew, a newly released cover image for the series’ third issue suggests that the storyline may involve both other incarnations of The Doctor and more well-known Trek characters as well…
![]()
That, of course, is TOS-era Kirk and Spock alongside Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor. Should we be surprised that different time frames are involved in a Doctor Who crossover? We should not. Will the series expand even further to include still more Doctors, or perhaps characters from Deep Space 9, Voyager, or Enterprise? There’s no way to know for sure at this point, but eight issues leaves plenty of room for variety, and it would certainly fit with the epic scale writers Scott and David Tipton are shooting for. In the meantime, keep an eye on your local comic-shop shelves next month for the arrival of Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation².
...Meglos my friend... all I can say is... let's hope that they never ever make the transition over into movies eh?... after all they did it with the 'Alien V Predator' franchises didn't they?... so they are capable of ANYTHING...
...I hope that I haven't given you potential nightmares Meglos... to quote radio reporter Herb Morrison as he saw the airship Hindenberg burst into flames in 1937, “Oh, the humanity!”... cheers.

We understand that a small number of US fans have received in error their DVD edition of Series 7 Part 2 early. We respectfully ask those fans not to divulge information or post content publicly so that fellow fans who have yet to see the episodes do not have their viewing pleasure ruined.
If everyone keeps the secrets safe until next Saturday we will release a special new clip featuring material of the Tenth AND Eleventh Doctor!

Some fans in America have been enjoying the Doctor Who series finale early due to a mistake in the American distribution of the Series 7 Blu-rays and DVDs.
The Name of the Doctor, which concludes the current series of the show, is due for transmission next weekend in the UK, North America and Australia. The episode is included in the Series Seven - Part Two Blu-ray, which was due to be released on 28 May.
However a distribution error has meant some copies of the discs have already been sent out in North America giving some fans a sneak preview of the final episode.
Doctor Who's brand manager, Edward Russell, has appealed to fans who have seen the episode to keep the show's secrets until it is broadcast at the weekend. On twitter he said
"Production error in US means DW bluray shipped early. Let's hope no one spoils it for those who want to enjoy it together on Saturday. This is like a Doctor Who version of the Dunkirk spirit! I know some folk want to boast, but it's so much better if we all watch together."
