Do we have a politics thread to discuss things political?

🤞🏻here’s hoping this guy is the next PM of Canada and that being a relative outsider in terms of government and the Liberal Party works to his benefit in terms of keeping them in power. Especially with the idiotic games Trump’s planning to play.

Donald Trump won both the popular and electoral college vote.
The man has literally said "you'll never have to vote again". He's a huge fan of Putin and Kim Jong Un. You think he wouldn't try it? He's already bought the Supreme Court. He pardoned all the January 6 rioters, even the very worst of them. They were literally attempting to overthrow a legitimate election result. What message do you think that sends?

I see Trump saying they should "clean out" Gaza and dump the people on Jordan and Egypt. He's literally advocating ethnic cleansing. Sounds like he had a prior arrangement with Netanyahu to just hand Gaza over to Israel.

According to this in 2023 US was rated 7.8 and Australia 8.7 on the most recent Democracy index. the highest was Norway with 9.8 and the NZ with 9.6 The lowest was Afghanistan with 0.3. I have put in a couple of other countries that have popped up in this conversation for comparison as well. So USA are not not as democratic as us, (or Germany currently) but Gayspie is correct.

The point is that USA's democracy is at risk, because of Trump. No-one's disputing the election result.

I hate it when the left say how their nations democracy is at risk whenever their opposing candidate wins a free and fair election.
