Do we have a politics thread to discuss things political?

I have been out of the country while Malcolm has done his thing so I mainly only get my news from The Age, abc webpage and a few other random websites like BBB. And talking with friends and family. So I miss out on the dynamic of tv and radio. But ... Dutton??!?!?????

VOLDERMORT seems to be a no go...
One of these will likely be the next jerk in power

What an absolute shit show. The govt just voted to cancel parliament for the day and now it is adjourned until Sept 10. The senate is still sitting however.

Dear dog, save us from Shouty ScoMo... and I doubt JBish will put her hand up. But Turnbull is dead.

All the LIBS are deadmen/women walking
How long until we get to throw them in the rubbish
And.....time is ripe for a new party to become a powerhouse

Bahaha! Gotta run, but Malcolm looks quite chipper at the press conference. Dutton likely not eligible to be in parliament but we will know for sure tomorrow.

So if Turnbull loses a vote to Dutton, he said he will resign his seat immediately. When that happens, the government will lose its one seat majority. The Governor General won't be able to swear in Dutton as PM unless he can prove he has a workable majority (or at least guaranteed Supply & Confidence). It would be 4-6 weeks before a byelection could be held in Turnbull's seat. That's plenty of time for a no-confidence vote in the government, forcing a general election. Bring it on...

When Rudd returned, the GG swore him in as PM on the understanding he would immediately test his support in the house, which he did and which he got. Dutton or whoever would presumably get the same chance.

Turnbull would be under pressure to hang around, at least until an early election.

Ah ok, my bad.

Anyway who knows what tomorrow will bring. With JBish and ScoMo lining up things aren't exactly clear cut.
