Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

I hope they pick housemates with no social media presence.
Agreed. Get us some regular Aussies of all ages, younger and older. All generations Boomers, gen X, millenials (gen Y) and gen Z should be represented by multiple housemates. There should also be a diverse range of jobs from tradies, to office workers, to the long term unemployed.

What I don't want to see is people who are wannabe influencers. Have a single one if you like so we can see how the others relate to their nonsense.

I understand the instincts, but there's a big chunk of regular peoples lives where leaving to potentially spend 3 months on a reality TV show isn't really a viable option.

Also who would be a prime example of someone cast for just being an influencer who was a terrible housemate? Also who would be an example of a regular older person who was a good housemate?

I don’t really think there’s anything they can do to screen out wannabe influencers. Nor do I think they should waste energy trying to. In modern society there are far too many ways to leverage 15 minutes of fame. Do I think that someone’s following should be considered when casting? Absolutely not but I also don’t think it should be disqualifying either.

For me I definitely think they need to age up the cast compared to account for a slightly older core demographic.

Ideally spilt with 2 - Gen X, 6 - Millennials, and 6 - Zoomers. Also as close to 50/50 BIPOC as they can get, if not have it be mandated. Also a healthy mix of LGBTQI+ representation. Probably around 25 to 30 percent.

Well the twins from last year for sure - there was absolutely nothing to them. However amongst last years Instagramable cast they were the exception rather than the rule.

SM whores have the voting bloc advantage over regular people. How can everyday people compete?

They should definately have a diverse cast but it should follow the demographics of Australian society. Having 25-20% LGBTQI+ would be too much - it should be closer to the proportion in the actual population.

For one you realize how insignificant a change in those percentages would have on a cast or 14 to 16 people right? 25% is only 3 people in a cast of 14 🙄.

Also considering it’s just under 60% of the Australian population that claim European heritage meaning splitting the cast 50/50 BIPOC is pretty accurate considering how we’re totally ok with a 50/50 gender divide 💁🏼‍♂️.

Secondly similar mandates on American/Canadian reality shows have been mostly positive.

I assume you mean the sisters Tay and Ari? Not twins but yes a good response because I had forgotten at all about them and they won?

They were boring housemates, but plenty of the cast that year who did the influencer stuff were decent housemates. I guess if influencers, people with personalities.

One of the problems with the 7 versions of the show is they hold no impact. I have some memories. I think they had decent casting but there's no impact because it wasn't an experience of watching people live in a house. It was just a few shows a week to watch.

If you want to know what the BB casting will look like, watch the brand new survivor promo. That will give you an idea.

They were identically dull.

Yesterday I went and had a look at their socials, Instagram and Tiktok. Instagram is just a catalogue for clothes. Yeah they have crazy bodies with proportions like One Piece characters, but it's just highly processed clothes modelling shots. Nothing with personality or sex appeal. It's like a junk mail Kmart catalogue from back in the day.

Their TikTok... now this shows my age but who the fuck whats people just mime quotes from movies and songs doing stupid dances??? That's all it is. Nothing original and creative.

I also checked out some other socials, most do or at least suggest a personality and sense of their a real person. Minae's didn't really but then she was a decent housemate. Which gets back to casting just can't be followers. Jake's is literally just videos of him absolutely ripped shirtless digging holes and being a tradie, for thirst followers yet seems way more genuine and interesting than being a coat rack.

Seven playing its own shows on its own channel? Huh? What's the issue here?
Just surprised me considering how bad it flopped and that it’s changing networks. I’m not sure how it works but are they allowed to play re runs when another network gets the rights?

Gotcha. Seven even has a live BBAU streaming channel of their seasons. I can't see any BB on 9NOW or 10play (no surprise for 10 though. If they did we might be able to get better rips of their early seasons which would be nice). Perhaps you're right and Seven will lose their rights mid-2025, but for now they still have a hold on it. I'd think Nine could probably get some views for their seasons if they were to put them up. I wonder if it's a rights issue or just their choice not to make them available.

Also I wonder if the voting numbers coming up all the time would mean Nine/10 would have to edit/modify all their eps so people watching wouldn't try to vote  That's obviously not an issue for Seven.

Strange choice but I guess it is the non rating season. It didn't rate well the first time it it isn't going to do better on a rerun.

I really dont think diversity quotas is the answer to increasing minority representation either on our tv screens or in other areas of public life.

I think in reality that's a very high benchmark nowadays - most people, especially looking to get on TV and able to spare a couple of months, will have some kind of presence and it's basically the 2020s equivalent of being a promo model during the original run.

To be fair the Seven casting was pretty decent and cast their net wider than the Channel 10 days, and the last series arguably sold the cast short by only concentrating only on their hot single instagramable status in the promotion.
Casting is one thing but if the supposedly cracker cast fail to fire then that can be a massive let down for everyone.

I know during the 2020 BBAU season on C7, the producers thought they had nailed it with casting, but said cast failed to fire, and they were so desperate for content at one point they had to release dogs into the house to generate some filmable action from the lackluster cast.

I know this was a talking point even during the C10 days of BBAU, when Producer Peter Abbot published an article about how hard it is to get people over 30 on the show due to them having major family and financial commitments like kids to care for, mortgages to pay off, and full time jobs to work.
