BBUK 2024: Returns Oct. 6th

Happy about the first evictee... cut the dead wood. But I'm still not totally feeling this season yet. Everyone is so intense and extroverted it's hard to form a connection or care about them yet.

The scene in the smokers area was really fascinating. Was that the first time we've seen the smokers area in the ITV era? I laughed that everyone locks up their vapes so they can't steal them from each other.

Was that the first time we've seen the smokers area in the ITV era?
Yeah. I think the most we'd had previously is seeing people going in and out and mentioning what it is.

Production likely never expected to have to use footage from the area either, because that camera was extremely low quality.

I really enjoyed last nights episode personally. Watching storyline’s occur naturally whilst also including a minor part of the task felt very old school bbuk to me. The female casting is very strong. But just knowing next week we’re already a third through does kind of ruin the positive feeling for me.

Viewer numbers aren't the be all and end all anymore, since so many people will just stream the show on ITVX and they make their money via the advertising on there.
Ok that gives me hope. I really feel the UK version is as close to the old skool vibe as I’m gonna get.

Last nights live feed was really good. Something had happened earlier in the day but nobody would quite say what so it became a bit of a whodunnit trying to piece the clues together. Think in the end it was just a couple of comments had been made rather than a full blown argument.

Yeah I noticed the Smokers/Vape area cut as well and also... What was I saying last season about there being no opportunity for shopping list miscalcs and arguments and drama cause they do it on a tablet and stuff nowadays? Lookie they brought out not one but two blackboards and chalk and the shopping manuals LOL.

So apparently there was drama between Ali and Khaled and she is getting absolutely slated on FB. How quickly the tide turns.

I'm an episode behind, still watching eviction show.

Have they dealt with the voting discussion the girls had in the spa on the eviction show?

They showed 10 minutes of footage from Friday and wasted 5 minutes on that, then played the classic cold showers trick which the C5 fans seem to love. I find all these public punishments for discussing nominations pathetic personally, especially when they're not influencing noms or talking about noms that didn't even happen. Much prefer private warnings in the diary room and then a consistent punishment pattern related to noms themselves.

The edit of events on Saturday night wasn't great - completely cut the boys bitching about Izaaz. Ali getting unnecessary heat online but essentially did the whole saying to your face what I say behind your back thing, whether Khaled needed to hear it or not - but to be fair it was in an attempt to resolve the tension rather than cause it. I've said all along though if she is up she's a high risk of going - strong independent women rarely do well in eviction votes.

Nominees:
Ali, Daze and Lily

The Head of House had two powers to choose from - either Save and Replace or make a Killer Nomination.

Khaled chose to make a Killer Nomination, saying saving a housemate would disrespect the house nominations. He nominated Martha.

I love when it all kicks off after nominations! I think Khaled really handled himself well and dominated the latest run in with Ali. I think she’ll definitely go home, which is a huge shame she’s an awesome housemate, but if I had my way I’d get rid of Martha. She’s nice enough but not bringing the drama the way the others are, she won’t be missed.
Also, how did Marchello not get a single vote? He’s a walking ick!

Looking at the polls our best hope is by Daze fans voting out Ali and Ali fans voting out Daze that Lily sneaks through and ends up topping the vote.

They really need to give viewers another 5 votes on eviction night though - so many just pile them on one HM as soon as the vote opens. Feels like the result is already locked in.

It's a sorry state of affairs that 4 outspoken strong character women are nominated like this.

I was reserving my judgement on Ali vs.Khaled because I thought Ali might have been pushing it a little too far, especially after Khaled made a point that he's only 23 and not as articulate, which I thought was very valid.

But then the first half of the latest ep was Khaled drifting from group to group and again coughing up more talk about how such a burden has been placed on him, and how he's just trying to be a nice guy. Then, almost as if the mask slipped a bit, he blurts out "if she throws knives I'll throw them back". That was a red flag for me.

After Khaled announced his killer nomination the sympathy cycle repeated again - omg such a new, heavier burden has been placed on Khaled! He looks around the room, fishing for the other housemates to reassure him. Unfortunately, most of them do.

I lost a lot of respect for Hanah after this ep. Firstly because she seems to be entranced by the Khaled pity party, but her reason for nominating Ali was that "Ali is hyperfixated on me when we speak". This seems wilfully ignorant of neurodivergence when Ali has explained this to the house.

This all sounds like I'm a blind Ali fan, but I did think she crossed the line at times after nominations - especially inserting herself in the Daze-Nathan drama which was completely unnecessary.

AND ANOTHER THING

I found it a bit suss that while Ali was in the diary room complaining about Khaled, they cut to him shirtless.

Facebook mums were salivating.
