BBAU Rewatch

I’m rewatching 2013 in my covid lockdown at the moment. So if you were around then and are getting random likes from decades old posts that’s because I’m reading through the daily threads on here as I do it haha.
I had forgotten that in 2013 I couldn’t really contribute to the live threads because I didn’t get channel 9, I had regional NBN which would play BB at a delayed time 😡 also back then we didn’t have the “like” feature on the forum. I even found a post that said I wish I could Facebook style “like” that post 😂

I’m up to Day 18. It’s so intriguing to watch things develop when you already know how they end up.
At this stage everyone thinks Jade and Ed weren’t going to be a thing.

Watching Tim again is pure delight and I had forgotten how much I loved Tahan. I found my post on like Day 2 or 3 saying that I fell in love with Tahan.

So nice seeing the development of Drew, Tim and Tully and comparing who they were in 2013 compared with this year. Some things change, some things don’t.
I’ve decided I want to rewatch this season too. 3 reasons. Wel I’ve watched as much as I can from Netflix, I’m a massive tully fan now so would like to see if I’d feel different when I rewatch from 2013, and Tahan. Anyone recommend how to start watching, or just YouTube as per usual?

Yes do it. There are a few on YouTube, just make sure you choose the one with the most episodes.

Such BS with the Logans, honestly. Aside from being possibly the most boring and underwhelming winner/s ever, it honestly feels like having one of them out in the public and there being two of them and therefore knowing more people is almost a violation of the rules. I liked how they tried to say it was a disadvantage because someone might not like one of them, a pretty weak take on it.

a minor grievance I have with 2013 is that stupid fake key thing on launch night. It’s very obvious that it was pre planned who was going into what house, I guess the theatrics benefitted the HMs potentially but it did nothing for me as a viewer because it was so contrived.

Half way watching first episode and yes agree. Tahan picked number 4 and then Sonya was like are you sure, which put doubt that it was wrong key, and she then changed to 12. It seemed they wanted Ben there first to get his reaction there. Sharon ended up picking 4 and of course she got the better end of the deal

I forgot how much I loved the hms from night one. Honestly such a good pick of hms.

Some highlights for me:
Tully and Tim already clashed from the word go 😂. She pretty much tells him he is speaking over everyone. And later he purposefully gloats that we he will never go to the other side and Xavier telling tully to be calm because she is getting frustrated at Tim gloating. He really is great tv.
Tahan is great tv too. Every time she gets a compliment, she totally knows shes hot. She says what the worst that can happen if she goes in the jacuzzi and Tim says she’ll get in trouble. Tahan is like ooh. She’s a little rebel and I think you couldn’t help but like her. She will whinge but I don’t know, she’s also fun.
Caleb was so into Tahan he would have done anything she said 😂. I think bb just wanted to see Tahan stay in her bikini (can’t blame him).
Heidi being a smart ass and saying to bb like anyone cares that Tahan loses her clothes is also a highlight. I really liked Heidi I remember early on. Somewhere I stopped liking her but she is actually quite funny imo. I’ll continue to watch to see where i changed my mind.

Tim and Tahan were both the highlights for me in terms of being fun and entertaining.

I 100% agree with you.

For sure Tahan was always going into the halfway house. Mikkayla, Xavier and Tahan were the first three in and they all happened to be in halfway house. They knew Tully would struggle, they knew Tim would be entertaining, of course their beloved Ben couldn’t suffer… I would have like to see them choose a number at the door, but producers still would have manipulated it.

I just watched Caleb's eviction (Day 36)

Tim really is incredible. That is the week he won showdown, saved Mikkayla and put himself up. He then managed to get 40.2% of the vote! He manipulated the housemates as much as the viewing public. He is a pure JOY to watch the chaos he creates.

Tim is in control of the game at this stage, much to the chagrin of the meatheads and a few others. They are all watching him, and hating it but they are powerless to do anything to stop him. It's amazing. truly.

The moment after the nomination swap, when Tully is with Drew in the backyard and hears Tim talking to Tahan about her and she confronts him and he just tells her he doesn't care!! Awkwardly fantastic. I said it in 2013 and I still think Heidi could have ridden the waves and played the game with Tim but she didn't and its to her game detriment. Drew is the only one who just plays the game with Tim and yet can still have different relationships with other housemates.

I also am seeing Tully through new eyes. She is definitely shown to cry a lot. But she is a young girl with a lot of strength. She wants to fight Tim, and good on her. At this stage she knows he played Xavier and Jasmin and then they left, she doesn't want to follow the same path.

Gosh I am reliving this as if I have gone back to 2013. Tomorrow is my last day of covid iso so don't know how much I will continue to watch after that, but this has been a nice way to spend iso.

I'm just happy Tim got the safe house in week one clap👏🏽👌🏽

It’s so weird watching all over again. But in a good way. I’m only up to the part that Ben is crying because he found out jade and Drew were not married, so still early on in the show.

I remember always liking Tahan. Immediately you can see she doesn’t shy away from speaking her thoughts- telling Tully she also interrupts people as Tully just finished saying mikkayla is driving her nuts by interrupting her. And then again leading the group with saying she didn’t believe the married couple. Even before that she kept asking everyone if they believed they were a couple and she is the only one still saying they are definitely not. I can see how Tim and Tahan could get along because they both are totally okay with speaking up. No wonder out of the house they speak with respect about each other and why Tim said he would have been okay to lose to Tahan. I still wish that Tahan would have won though. I love the girl. But happy Tim won too at the same time. Such a hard call with these two.

At this moment of the show i think how I felt then is still pretty comparable, except now I don’t think I valued mikkayla as much as I wish I did. She is good tv too, and relateable for so many people on some ways. I think because of the whole jade and Drew thing is probably why, I was definitely caught up with that storyline. Jade was really good at navigating and subtly letting Drew know she was not interested. I see why I really liked her early on. She really is beautiful. I’m actually surprised she didn’t get more male attention even if supposedly married, and I don’t remember much even after they found out. I do wonder whether that would have been different had she come in as a normal hm. There are subtle hints that Ed would definitely go with someone like Tahan, had she been single, so I definitely don’t think Ed and jade would ever have been a thing even without the married task, so it makes it even more awkward watching this again.

Heidi is really likeable for me at this moment. She has so many qualities you like in the hm’s from the bb10 days, I wonder whether I’ll see things differently and still like her this time around. Sharon is a bit quiet in these episodes. Same as Ed. Besides Sharon being a mum, and all the girl hms saying he is a gentleman, the both of these hms don’t make a difference in the show for me just yet. In a way Ed is lucky for his storyline with jade.

Xavier was easily my top 3 hms and I still don’t understand how he goes early from these episodes. It’s such a shame really. We didn’t get enough out of him.

I agree with almost everything you wrote. There’s a really beautiful moment coming up where Heidi tells Tim that no one is friends with him and Mikkayla and Drew tell him quietly that they are his friends. I like Mikk too.

The thing I don’t really agree with is Xavier. I don’t know exactly what it is, I can’t put my finger on it but I didn’t really warm to him and was happy to see him leave.

Uhh! I think you’ve just unlocked when I probably started to dislike Heidi. She did herself wrong going against Tim, I think she made the mistake of following the stet of the hms, when instead she should have kept a balance, like Tahan did. And why Drew went up in my estimations. I honestly kick myself for not appreciating Mikkayla. I think it became Tahan side or Mikkayla’s side, and I evidently picked one, and fell for the production headline. But now, second time round I can appreciate two strong females who hold themselves and stand by their opinions I suppose.

Not sure if I’ll finish watching but at least I’ll have something to do when I have my random wake ups now. The one thing I forgot I enjoyed was the live audience sometimes when Sonya was hosting. It just gave the show something. Hearing the audience in the background reacting to parts of the episode. 9 did better than 7 in how they presented the show. With 9 I feel like they tried to keep some of the value needed for bb, not sure how they screwed it up for 2014 though. I think the cast of 2013 was superior though and it helped massively.

@tee_smyth is in bali, but maybe when she gets back she could answer. When you had late night feast, did they just play that “I’m a VIP” song over and over or would you get a mix of music?

All we see / hear is…

“Yeah man yeah man, im a v.i.p.
I got the ride
I got the cribs
I got the chicks
I got the money money money”

😂

Which reminds me, as a wiser woman, well I hope I am 😂 I also see tully through a different lens, she is considerate of people, and she gets frustrated when she sees unfairness, but she did lack self awareness in 2013 compared to now. She also argues much better now imo, but it could also be that she too just had to age like the rest of us to know better.

I mean. It is hard to hate Heidi for it.
Living with Tim would be chaotic 🤣
