Remember when she was gently trying to tell him to be considerate of others and he replied she sounds see like his mumI mean. It is hard to hate Heidi for it.

It’s so weird watching all over again. But in a good way. I’m only up to the part that Ben is crying because he found out jade and Drew were not married, so still early on in the show.
I remember always liking Tahan. Immediately you can see she doesn’t shy away from speaking her thoughts- telling Tully she also interrupts people as Tully just finished saying mikkayla is driving her nuts by interrupting her. And then again leading the group with saying she didn’t believe the married couple. Even before that she kept asking everyone if they believed they were a couple and she is the only one still saying they are definitely not. I can see how Tim and Tahan could get along because they both are totally okay with speaking up. No wonder out of the house they speak with respect about each other and why Tim said he would have been okay to lose to Tahan. I still wish that Tahan would have won though. I love the girl. But happy Tim won too at the same time. Such a hard call with these two.
At this moment of the show i think how I felt then is still pretty comparable, except now I don’t think I valued mikkayla as much as I wish I did. She is good tv too, and relateable for so many people on some ways. I think because of the whole jade and Drew thing is probably why, I was definitely caught up with that storyline. Jade was really good at navigating and subtly letting Drew know she was not interested. I see why I really liked her early on. She really is beautiful. I’m actually surprised she didn’t get more male attention even if supposedly married, and I don’t remember much even after they found out. I do wonder whether that would have been different had she come in as a normal hm. There are subtle hints that Ed would definitely go with someone like Tahan, had she been single, so I definitely don’t think Ed and jade would ever have been a thing even without the married task, so it makes it even more awkward watching this again.
Heidi is really likeable for me at this moment. She has so many qualities you like in the hm’s from the bb10 days, I wonder whether I’ll see things differently and still like her this time around. Sharon is a bit quiet in these episodes. Same as Ed. Besides Sharon being a mum, and all the girl hms saying he is a gentleman, the both of these hms don’t make a difference in the show for me just yet. In a way Ed is lucky for his storyline with jade.
Xavier was easily my top 3 hms and I still don’t understand how he goes early from these episodes. It’s such a shame really. We didn’t get enough out of him.

His dad is a school principal too, isn’t he? i can’t see Tim ever being the disciplinarian, so imagine dad had quite a workout there alone. I would say it would be fun around him but you would be kept on your toesI did sort of laugh seeing his actual mum, so reserved and sensible and probably still very supportive of Tim but also probably very WTF at her crazy son.
Yes this sounds familiar too. I did kind of love his dad, he was funny but for sure a daggier type than Tim and Tim was so embarrassed when his dad came into the house, but you could tell there was still love and respect both ways. His sister seemed pretty chill, did he have lots of siblings maybe or did I imagine that? Life would never be too dull in their family with Tim around but he has a good heart so they couldn’t possibly stay annoyed for too long. His dad is a school principal too, isn’t he? i can’t see Tim ever being the disciplinarian, so imagine dad had quite a workout there alone. Yes, all sisters if I remember. I can see it. He fought with the females like he was their brother but also was so sensitive to them and how they thought. A typical brother that annoys you and yet gets you all at once. He saw through to peoples hearts. An exemplary show of this is when he spoke about tully in the current season, beautifully spoken. you can clearly see he has grown up around females.Yes this sounds familiar too. I get it. Rewatching it, I do see the pick me type in her, especially her package (I actually didn’t like her from her package, but from day 1 in the house I did) she doesn’t get along with girls and is always around the boys like a sister, not in the flirty sense, though she would have no problem there either. Funny though because she did get along with Heidi I remember, and she was complimenting jades looks all the time, so it wasn’t like she was threatened, but I guess her directness and how she doesn’t easily get offended (why she couldn’t relate to tully at times) makes her one of the boys too. Outside the show though she seemed to keep in touch with the girls the most and her and Mikkayla are quite close, as she is with Tully.I didn’t vibe too much on Tahan first time around I must say. I don’t know why, I guess not inherently my kind of person. But upon my recent viewing I now understand the love and support she had and would have seen her as a worthy winner for sure.

And BB mentioned her lipsticks a few more times over the next weeks tooJust finished watching the first nominations. I laughed so much at Tim nominating jasmin because she wears too much lipstick and bb follows it by complimenting jasmin’s lipstick![]()
Me too! Tully mentioned bb spoke to them during the challenges. You know I hate the challenge stuff BD, so I would have loved the interaction between hms and bb.And BB mentioned her lipsticks a few more times over the next weeks too
Love it when BB has a bit of fun with them.
I was about to direct you to the Is Xavier Circumcised? thread but it got deleted (yet still got voted Thread of the Year in the 2020 Speccys).I remember wishing we got the chance to see a bit more of both of them.

How did you like Ben this time around? I actually found him funny and eccentric- I really like him. But I can see all the production putting the spotlight on him like he was supposed to be the chosen one which is a shame because he didn’t need it. I can see why this flustered so many, but feel bad he didn’t get the opportunity to be seen past it.
Surprisingly I really like Jasmin this time round. I think she is great. Especially eviction nights when she spoke up for Rohan. I felt sorry for Rohan. You can see he struggled![]()
haha, wonder where blobby is these days!I was about to direct you to the Is Xavier Circumcised? thread but it got deleted (yet still got voted Thread of the Year in the 2020 Speccys).
And also, wrong Xavier. Oops.
Agree with this. Mikkayla also made the same mistake by going too hard against Tim during her final week in the show, after being close with him for most of the show.Uhh! I think you’ve just unlocked when I probably started to dislike Heidi. She did herself wrong going against Tim, I think she made the mistake of following the stet of the hms, when instead she should have kept a balance, like Tahan did. And why
What does Rohan do for a living? Like you I think it would have been better had he came in on night one. The promo of him was so different to what we saw of him in the house. But I do think many think they will do what they say they will but on entering the house, surrounded by many personalities, well it’s a completely different experience by then. I wonder if he put a lot of pressure on himself or I wonder whether there were cultural differences that made his time even more limiting. I found the sugar sisters really annoying when they made a deal about Rohan making a comment about their hair straighteners. Tahan always got the bad end of the stick about her blow dryer, but I found they were no different when it came to their hair stuff.I thought what Tully meant was that what we see/hear is that he does during challenges? He commentates and says things to push their endurance or to keep their head in the game to psychologically push them. A similar role Jeff/JLP play on survivor during challenges.
It's been really fascinating reading the threads as I watch the episodes. There's a strong sense that Ben is putting on an act, and although I have found a few replies from myself stating that I don't really agree, I think back in 2013 those theories did affect how I viewed Ben.
This time around, with the benefit of hindsight, I am outright enjoying watching Ben's 'journey.' Obviously now I know that he was being pretty authentic Ben; he is quirky and odd, but also genuine and sincere and watching the different relationships he has with people is very sweet. Yes of course he is a producer fave and gets a lot of the spotlight, but I don't generally let that bother me. I think you hit the nail on the head that he didn't get the opportunity to be seen past it. I just watched the Day 50 (fake) double eviction. He would do little things that you just know the producers would love, like dancing the twist (after the pre-series promo had Sonia dancing the twist etc.) but that's not to say he is any less authentic. People are not one-dimensional, he can be sweet and naive while also playing it up a bit on camera. Like Tim, I've always said that producer fave or not, he MADE himself the star of the show. In some ways Ben does too. (I also think Danny 2020 did.)
I do feel sad for Rohan. Being an latecomer or intruder is always going to make it that bit harder to socially connect and Rohan self-admittedly had issues with that anyway. I think it was not fair on him, he might have had a better go entering on night one. He never could shake the 'mole' accusation and his social awkwardness did not help. He seemed to have a good connection with Ben which we did not get to see very much of. Glad to hear that he seems to be doing well in his career at least now.
I don't know, I didn't really connect with Jasmin or Xavier again on rewatch.
