Audience laughing at sam because of his mobility issue/disability

Monday and Tuesday were complete sell outs 😳

They could gave been laughing at something that happened at the auditorium completely unrelated. Which happens more than you might think. (well I hope that's what it was and not people laughing at Sam)
Please do not try to justify it. :)

Hi shy. I'm going to talk to you as though you're not the second account of someone else just in case we're being trolled (no offense but it happens daily here)

I for one have had quite a few laughs at Lisa's expense because of comments posted here and elsewhere and yet I arced up about people laughing at Sam stumbling. For me the issue first arose when Lisa took something she overheard and tried to put words in David's mouth when we saw he didn't say anything she'd suggested and even in the pool she'd been the one who referred to her boobs. And even started to shake them. She was happy when she felt he thought they were A-1 and hurt when she heard they weren't even though he wasn't even the one who said the saggy comment so if she's in the house come Secrets Exposed time, we see her get shown that although I suspect she already knows anyway. So in that one aspect, she was wrong and I stand by that.

However you are right in the fact that we (I'm saying it as a generic we) are laughing about saggy boobs when that's something she can't help. I've had a kid... I know how it goes with tits and honestly I'd be the first one to say it. BUT, I do get what you're saying too. We're laughing at something she can't help - unless she had plastic surgery which is also something that is also laughed at often on here - so how is that different to laughing at Sam's leg. I get that and you've given me something to think about and I'm going to change how I respond to that from now on. However this is a very superficial site ie "who has the best tits" by a new poster this year, threads talking about bodies, etc. Usually the comments are spur of the moment... even those who have declared bullying on here have judged HMs by looks, sometimes with complete dissertations. I think that's human nature when it comes to a reality show but I do get what you meant before and will still continue with that.

If you're a real poster, I hope you stick around. We as a whole seem much more scary than we actually are but are actually very inclusive. If you're a second account then it makes me sad that someone felt the need to say this under an alias as you really did make great points. Either way, welcome! :)

I am not a troll, and everything in my post was legitimately true :) Although I am interested in who this troll is you're referring to? :p
I think it is hard to find the line between what is acceptable and what is not when it comes to commenting on the show. Everybody has their own stance on this. There would be no point of Big Brother if watchers were not allowed to make judgements and form and develop their own opinions on the housemates. My own personal opinion is that there is a large difference between criticising the actions of others compared to criticising a physical characteristic. The former is something that the housemates choose to do, the latter is something that the housemates can't help. I just want people on this website to understand that by criticising a housemate for a physical characteristic, you are not just targeting one particular person, you are also unintentionally targeting anyone who has experienced insecurities in relation to that body part, or maybe even their appearance in general. I understand that I have already said all of this and you have acknowledged it, I guess I am just reiterating for my own benefit. There is more I could talk about but like you said, this is a reality show. I am most likely making something out of nothing and I don't want to dive into something that is too serious when this forum is about sharing opinions and having a laugh :P
I would also like to add that I am not trying to be pretentious. I am not perfect. Through becoming a teenager and developing my own insecurities, it has made me prone to looking out for anything that is not considered 'pretty' in other people in order to make me feel less alone in my own imperfections. I generally do not ever say these thoughts out loud though, and I do feel extremely guilty about them. Everybody's a bit of hypocrite. I am a hypocrite for calling people out on being a hypocrite.
But I totally understand what you are saying! This is a reality show, people will say mean stuff, the housemates went into it aware that they will receive negative comments about them (hopefully no one says it to them directly through the means of Twitter or social media).
I find it hard to talk to people in general, so going against what I think is the majority is definitely scary! I spent last night going to sleep thinking about it, and I woke up this morning with it immediately on my mind. It's probably not even fathomable (does that word make sense in this context?) for some people on how a person could be so fearful going onto an anonymous forum post. I was expecting a negative reaction, and instead I got your response, which was definitely a relief! I appreciate it a lot! So just thank you for your understanding :)

I watched the part of Sam walking up the stairs to nominate and even though I did hear the audience laughing it did not mean they were laughing at him. He has walked up those same stairs many many times and I dont think anyone ever made fun.. We couldn't see what was happening on stage or out in the audience.. ..

Outrageously over simplified. If that where true psychologists and therapists wouldn't exist.

It isn't anywhere near that black and white.

It was tasteless. I know people are saying they may not have been laughing at that, but Sam is the only one they seem to show walk up the steps every time. It's like they think we constantly need to remember he has one leg. I think that you can guarantee they wanted a reaction with the way they control live crowds too.

You are wrong, just re watched it 3 or 4 times. He is adjusting his leg and no one, even a moron is going to laugh at that. The laughing sounds like it only comes from a small concentrated section of the crowd of 850 and then sounds like the same small section then clap about something, clearly not the complete crowd involved. I'd be pretty confident to say something happened off camera with Sonia and/or Mike. Anyone else rewatch it and get the same opinion? Anyone actually there and know what happened?
I watched it a couple of times too and I think you are spot on... The small group laughing had already started BEFORE he reached the top and he simply leaned down and readjusted his prosthetic... Nothing sinister. He didn't trip or falter at all.

Out of curiosity, what are some of the reasons why people dislike Sam on the forums? He seems like a decent guy and he has a nice face. To stay on topic, I found the audience laughing at Sam's immobility appalling, it's not like he's Charlie Chaplin doing slapstick for your amusement,he has a physical disability.

Welcome @shy1998 ... You have an exceptional vocab for someone your age and your accurate grammar and punctuation is a breath of fresh air!! Anonymous forums are a great place to gain confidence if you have trouble with face-to-face communication... just try not to take the comments and responses on here too seriously. It takes time to get to know how different posters interact and apart from the odd nut job 😖, it's actually a hilarious crew posting on here! 😆

Of course, I totally agree! I can definitely relate to this and I am sorry for not specifying. There are many situations when the actions you take are completely or almost entirely out of your control, particularly if you have a mental illness.
When I was referring to actions, I think I was more so thinking about the act of gossiping or saying mean things behind others backs and other similar actions, which I sense people don't really like on this forum. I cannot think of any underlying reason that would force a housemate to do something like that, which is why I think that these decisions are in their control if that makes sense. One of the things Mrs Butterface said was that Lisa was "putting word's in David's mouth", or something along the lines of that. I personally believe that Lisa made that decision, and that she chose to do it, therefore I can understand the frustrations coming from people as it has created negativity towards David (although I don't completely dismiss David from any responsibility as he has said a few strange things lol). Lisa's breasts on the other hand is something she cannot help, and I don't think it's necessary to repeatedly make fun of them.
I feel as if I may be getting muddled up in my thoughts. My main original point was that I just find it rich how some people on here claim that the audience is very immature, when some of the comments I see on this forum are no better.

Hahaha thank you :) A lot of kids my age are perfectly capable but really just cannot be bothered in at least attempting to use correct grammar and punctuation. :P Thanks for the advice, I will definitely try not to take things too seriously, and I think I am pretty good at identifying trolls... hopefully :P Out of interest, what's the main demographic on here? Thanks for the welcome :)

I'm not sure if there is any data on the demographics (presuming you mean age) but I'd say the age range is HUGE!! Teens to 60's... So probably somewhere in the middle you'd find the average age. The mods would know but not everyone would give their correct DOB.

Immaturity exists all over the place, including here!

What I mean is, some people are stupider than others, some have had harder lives than other, some have had better childhood influences than others... none of this is in their control but it all contributes to their personality. When we laugh at Skye for doing something stupid, it is in the same vain as laughing at a physical disability. She can't help being stupid(er).

It is a lot easier to assume everyone has full control over their actions as it allows us to judge people without having to feel guilt -which suits most people. But the reality is, it really isn't that simple .

The way I rationalize it; they all decided to apply for a reality show for our entertainment, and while they are in the house they are there for our amusement - they accept this, it is a trade. However we find that amusement is up to the individual viewer, and threads like this shouldn't be made to villainize the fans.

Once they leave the house, we should treat them like actual people again - until then, fair game.

I remember several weeks ago, I think it was Skye fell up the stairs & the crowd laughed, but there wasn't a post about it.

I could be the only one here, but I forget Sam has a 'disablity' & I would bet that Sam doesn't see himself as having a disability.

He isn't doing the poor woe is me, I have a leg missing, feel sorry for me.

i heard it and was disgusted, although it didn't sound like there were many people in the audience that laughed, just the usual typical idiots we all have to deal with on a daily basis
