Why does Melbourne often get the best city to live award?
More than anything because Melbourne has soul.....

Security bollards have quickly become art installations.......

Maybe instead of the 'planters' they are apparently bringing in to replace the bollards, they should stick with something that can be used for this kind of temporary art.

Shakespeare like its 1614! A must-see for students.

Pop-up Globe, the world’s first full-scale temporary working replica of one of the greatest theatres in history, the second Globe, will soon pop-up right next door to the iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

It will pop-up, be amazing and then disappear again.

Epic battles. Laugh-out-loud comedy. Dazzling special effects. Elaborate costumes. Spectacular dances. Sword fights in full suits of armour. This is Shakespeare like it’s 1614.

LIGHT PAINTING.....MELBOURNE

Very cool, using cameras with anything that makes light......creatives creating new mediums, often accosted by police thinking they are graffiti types, nothing illegal about this....gorgeous images

The artwork created by artist Chris Fox, titled Interloop, was commissioned to top off a multimillion-dollar redevelopment of Wynyard station, in the heart of the city’s financial district. It’s already been called by several people online as a “stairway to heaven”.
It is made of the old wooden escalators that once ran in the station

I saw this posted online yesterday and I absolutely love it. It was sad that they were among the last seven remaining wooden escalators in the world and got decommissioned but I understand there were safety risks (fire, stilettos, guide dogs), so I'm ecstatic they have been reinvented as such an amazing piece of art. Must be incredibly heavy, lucky AU doesn't have earthquakes! How did they even get it in there and up there???

Next time I return to Sydney (whenever that is) I will make a special trip to Wynyard just to see this.

Looks fantastic, I had no idea that wooden escalators even existed. Bit mind boggling, I recall my younger brother was terrified by escalators metal ones, he would scream at the feet eaters he thought they were, and they would lift him or we took the stairs or lifts.
