2014 Ratings Thread

Australia has a large population 55+
They all watch the news!

You pretty much summed up the direction of free to air Tv in Australia, it is totally going to die with the older generation. The newer generation has Tv at their finger tips and don't want to sit down at a pre scheduled time to watch a show with adverts. Is it just me or is OzTAM completely out dated? As we live in the future would there not be a better way of calculating the actual exact numbers and not just the five mainland metropolitan markets?

There's also RegionalTAM:

I am upset with the ratings system in this country, purely because I have never been offered a ratings box.

That's why they have Jump/in etc to try and get the younger crowd to watch it at the scheduled time, so they chat like we do on here I suppose...

You'd think with digital tv & today's technology etc that there would be some way of accurately reporting back somehow of what station is being watched at what time on tv's across the land ??

I think last night's ratings are fairly good, considering the David Attenborough documentary that was on before it only rated 617,000, a huge drop from the 855,000 viewers it got last week. Thats 98.2% retention in total viewers, for a show that runs until past 10 pm, which is excellent. It also didn't do too badly in the demos.

There are still people in the younger generations who watch TV. Where do you think shows like BB get their viewers from?

The ratings are shit due to the trashy housemates. Skye doesn't even know what a kilo is. Gurl, have you never been to coles or woolworths in ur freaking life,? Hopefully the intruders are interesting this time unlike snooze fest maria whatever her name is and leo.

Is that good, mediocre or bad? Demos are good but ratings?
It beat last week's number by 30k+ so that's a good thing. And only one show was over 900k and that was wait for it... the bloody news again... so nothing had great numbers last night. But Upper Middle Class Bogans and Beauty and the Geek beat it in the timeslot although UPMC didn't make the demos at all and BB beat Beauty in 2 out of 3.

So yeah I think for a night that Ch 9 isn't concerned with winning, BB did quite well!
