BB 2025 season ratings thread

Because now it counts to the numbers you see for the reach and average. It just shows you what the split is.
Fair enough. I think "reach" is a pretty strange metric for TV stations to be telling potential Advertisers; just 1 min TV or 15 sec BVOD viewing counts.

Who knows? Maybe TV stations are trying to count every last fleeting viewer, given overall broadcast TV viewing is in freefall and has been for years.

Or maybe Reach is a useful metric for TV programs which most people do not watch from start to finish, like Olympic Games, Test Cricket Matches, etc.

I’m not familiar with the discussions around reach in Australia. But it might be published in a bit to balance the view on TV versus internet.

Sometimes people make the claim that TV is dead because a show like Big Brother might get 800,000 viewers but a video on YouTube gets 1.5m views.

But people compare two different metrics there because 1.5m views doesn’t mean you have 1.5m viewers. And having an average audience of 800,000 viewers doesn’t mean that you can’t reach more than those 800,000. The first half of the show might have 1m and the second half only 600,000.

Stating the reach balances things out again, which is why I’ve seen some countries or channels using that number.

It still has limited value for selling ads, but it’s about grabbing attention, which might then help with talking about ad sales I guess.
