Big Brother 2025 starts November 9 (Sunday) on 10

After my initial disappointment, I’m happy to see past Leon as BB - it sounds like they might be giving him a new spin and I do agree it’s a familiar carry-over for a lot of people. It’s just difficult not to get triggered by hearing him in this promo - he is so synonymous with the Nine era, I hope they can find a way to differentiate him from that.

Plus, my thought process is, had Ten been given a ninth season back in 2009 Leon would’ve likely continued to be the voice then anyway. So hey, this is almost like “picking up where they left off”, right? Minus Kyle & Jackie-O, the Kombi van and a giant bed...🤪
Wow exciting stuff. I didn’t really mind Leon that much, but was really hoping for Peter or Nick to return. That being said, we initially had Peter in the original teaser, followed by AI BB. So maybe that’s not indicative of his return? I wasn’t convinced until I saw Leon’s presence in the promos Instagram comments.

If they go down the OG route we’ll have multiple voices. Leon’s counterpart during the 9 era had a good voice. Also maybe a chance Rikkie Proost or Aaron Lucas might return? It’s still better than the awful current BBUK voice. Hopefully no dubbing and we get a mix of voices.

Didn’t another thread show the series rated as M? Hopefully we get a stricter BB.
You are being too harsh with Leon. Yes, he was the more family-friendly version, but I do remember moments when he got serious. He did a pretty good job at it. I reckon he could pull off a mean, more direct BB if 10 asked for it.
I mean we could’ve got much worse with the voice, at least it’s a safe option.

So I’m gonna say it’s really only competition is the golden bachelor (which I doubt will be much competition)? Might catch the end of MKR? Unless there’s anything I’m missing.

I mean if the logic is launch it in a non competitive spot, trial things with a short run, hook viewers in, to have a larger series mid next year, that’s kinda smart. At least I’m gonna hope that’s the logic.
Watching this clip from a BB08 episode: Day 42a: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FX69MOVjSK34yPjcP3MVbtXmQZwaeZTs (12:16 into the video), I always had memories that Leon's BB was strict when Nobbi was bullying Travis.

However, watching back, I don't quite think it's Leon's voice, and one of the secondary BBs.

A couple of Reddit subs might also oblige: r/DownUnderTV and/or r/RooTV
The video buff snob in me prefers the broadcast rips, since in the case of BBUK the episodes are 50fps. Reddit generally rips from the broadcaster websites and the framerate is halved to 25fps. I hate that I learned to notice the difference and made my life so much harder. :(

Will have to wait and see if thats an issue for BBAU or not.

Boo to the Leon hate! As if he's solely responsible for the Ch9 seasons being poop...
It's crazy to think it's been like 10 years since those seasons, even I'm starting to have some nostalgia for it. 😰

I also love Mel's energy. She's so charismatic.
(Though I'm going to miss making fun of Sonia's outfits each week)

I think it’s more about his BB being synonymous with the Nine era, and us not expecting Ten to opt for his voice this season (after hearing hints of Abbott and others in promos), than anything else. Once that initial surprise wears off he’ll likely be fine.

I don’t think people are claiming he was the reason Nine’s seasons weren’t great, only that it reminds us of that (even though he did BB08 too). As I said in my last post, the fact he was still technically part of Ten’s OG era actually makes for interesting continuity.

I would say that definitely is Leon. Those telling off sessions never hit quite like Nick’s scaldings did. Though I’d say this is dubbed over - when he stops speaking you can hear hard a noticeable change to the ambient noise in the room.

Sidebar, completely forgot about the BBUK Eatock eye being used in BB8.

I actually smiled when I heard the voice and said “Oh wow, Leon”!
Channel 9, dare I say it, still had some iconic housemates and moments!
Maybe the other BB voices are getting a bit long in the tooth and don’t want to commit. Or perhaps they’ll be BB for a few time slots here and there…

I really hope that for some reason it's extended. I know it probably wont though, just feeling as hopeful as can be. 6 weeks would have been beautiful. 4 weeks brings a tear to my eye
I think the long 3+ month runs are done honestly (I hope I'm wrong). I'd be happy with 8 weeks at a minimum. I just don't think people in this day and age have attention spans for 100 day seasons.

Mhm, totally get it and I'm the same these days. Just so busy! Though, I feel like 1 month is just a liiiiiil' too short. I feel like an extra two weeks would make such a difference.

Right, they could easily pre-record the launch on the 8th and consider it either Day 1 or Day 0 like in most years. But it could be interesting to have the first live BBAU launch since 2003.
I hate live launches, and they (BBUK included) always tends to mess up the Day counts by doing them, so no. lol

It probably won’t start raining mid show in November, but a live launch is so much stress to put on Mel Tracina considering it’s her first solo gig as a host. Gretel at least had a couple of seasons under her belt before they attempted a live launch..
