BBAU 2025 house location - Speculation & discussion

I think for them to be able to be live they will need a facility that will be able to be a production suite as well as a studio that can handle live crowds.

These days the investment of what they did in 2001 wouldn’t be able to be justified. Logically it would make sense that they go for somewhere that already has a fair bit of this capability to keep costs down. It also needs to be somewhere that is accessible for the e audience to attend.
Docklands Studios would make sense or even one of the other theme parks.

I remember back in 2006 that season alone to launch night cost upwards of $300million
Nowadays production can be done remotely to a much greater extent although the preference would I'm sure be to have most staff on site and in the Big Brother bubble so to speak.

I suspect they want somwhere which looks on TV to have a sizeable audience but is actually significantly smaller than Dreamworld, though I think C9 had already cut the crowd by about half in their era. Not sure how willing people would be to pay for tickets now.

It's good to be back on the forums!
Since we're speculating... Perth Film Studios, anyone?

It would be nice to see a major TV production head to Western Australia for once. I'm not exactly sure as to the construction timeline of Perth Film Studios but it could be a viable alternative in the near future. There are going to be dedicated production facilities and I'm almost certain there's enough space to house a live audience (I remember reading somewhere it is going to be the largest Film & TV production studio in the southern hemisphere).

About Dreamworld, the original house location these days appears to be a pond with icky brown water, according to the below image. There is also a new road right up to the northern boundary (constructed in 2022).

Also, slightly off topic but hopefully still interesting enough, you can actually barely make out the outline of the pool below in this QImagery photo although it appears to be slightly outdated compared to your Airbus photo (not sure which actual mapping tool you guys are sourcing the aerial imagery from).

I remember seeing a version of this aerial photography where you can clearly make out the outline of the main pool and the rewards area pool after they demolished the burned down house, but I can't find it anymore. I'm guessing no one got a closeup ground level photo of this outline on premises as that was the only sign that there had ever been a Big Brother house in that location. Ah well... I guess it's time to go... Dreamworld. RIP

Sadly doubt that will happen but always thought it works well for BBUSA being on the West Coast. Means their equivalent of "Uplate" was actually late evening rather than late night for the housemates and there was plenty of time post-live eviction to film challenges and footage if needs be.

You made me curious - this is a photo of the Adelaide film studios.... Could you imagine saying that was the Big Brother House!

These studios are in the middle of an industrial zone in Perth’s north east; some 30km away from the CBD.

Docklands has the upper hand I’m afraid

Does Channel 10 even have a presence in Perth anymore? I'm picturing just one dilapidated desk in the back corner of a WeWork.

Maybe just news. I found this from December.

Was just thinking about this again last night, and remembering ofc for a live show, the house/yard, outdoor arena space for challenges/FNL(?) need to be located together, with the stage/audience area close by. Seven used to bus the HMs from the house to the arena area (and I think also the "basement"?) but ofc with a live show they won't be able to do that, because of the risk of contact with the public.

Also assume they'll want it to be somewhere where it's warm in September. Sydney is great in September, but the weather suddenly turns to shit in October, rainy and stormy and all over the shop.

Also the advantage of Dreamworld was the co-branding arrangement which would have provided a financial advantage, so it's hard to imagine them not looking at somewhere like that again.

Definitely lots of room in this space here if they were to get some sort of incentive to offset the cost of a new purpose built house.

That site is being developed into apartment buildings. While I could only find proposals and nothing on the status. This drone footage uploaded to YouTube a few months ago suggests that work is underway. The drone footage also shows a set build on carpark space at Docklands. So they do use that space as a backlot and is probably the best guess location at the moment.

Thanks for that. I did a little tour on street view after posting that and while the site is quite spacious anyone living in those townhouses would no doubt be screaming bloody murder come eviction night.

You may be referring to 2019 Nearmap imagery, originally shared via Parkz.com.au and reposted to https://www.behindbigbrother.com/2019/09/icymi-big-brother-house-amphitheatre-flattened/.

Even if BB did want to return to Dreamworld, I don't think there much of an option now. Viewing the 2010 Coomera Town Centre plan, there's an area north of the old Vintage Cars location (the ride is being relocated), however road access would be a problem. Otherwise, there is also a narrow strip of undeveloped land, supposedly still DW owned, between Foxwell Rd and Oaky Creek (northwest of the theme park). Having said that, the Foxwell Coomera website indicates a larger land area between the town centre development and Foxwell Rd, but that doesn't mean all of it is still owned by Dreamworld.

Have we got a before and after aerial shot of Dreamworld (and surrounding area) then versus Dreamworld now? I know there were significant plans to redevelop the area but did they actually materialise?

I live about 20 mins from Dreamworld, and was up that way in May/June, there is a KFC that's about 300m from where the house stood. Great for sponsorship haha. There's no housing or anything directly behind it. However, it's cutting it close to the original set, and there's a LOT of youth crime around there, as well as the GC in general, so they'd have to really beef up security or build an 8 foot security fence around the compound 😂

I can make my way up there today and have a little look, I've got no drone or anything unfortunately to take some aerial shots.

Took a while to finally get off the ground but yes the Westfield Shopping Centre was finally built and they’ve now moved on to developing the land just behind Dreamworld.

The angle is off but this overhead pretty much covers everything you see in the pic @marquisite posted. The most forward part of the yellow area marked Foxwell Coomera is the McDonald’s & KFC which @BB12 says is about 300m from where the house used to be.

This was the entrance to the house on Foxwell Rd in 2014 and what was across from it from Google Street View.

Compared to 2022. It’s a pretty significant difference.

Here’s another before and after, looking down Foxwell Rd towards the house from what would become the McDonald’s and KFC.
