Doctor Who

Lovely episode, Jenna got to look just gorgeous, the historical episodes are my favourites.
Robin Hood looked so much like the hero of Princess Bride, Carey Elwes (spelling?), I thought it was his son???

Peter show was sweet, he and his son-in-law Tennant, aww, nice together; and the interview with Peter was lovely.
All the doctors I love best exude a sweetness/kindness/gentle aura in their natural state. Peter/David/Matt/Peter - a Peter circle!
I think this is what stops me loving Tom Baker, he exudes nasty at home, and doesn't have that certain aura, sweet mixed with crazy super brain.
I have a feeling BB is going to be horrendous this year, I have a feeling of doom, awfulness packaged as gloss/glamour - the 1st reveal encompassed that

...I consider this thread to be a 'safe haven' that's away from all the screaming and carrying on that happens in the main Big Brother forums... it's like being in a virtual Tardis away from all of the hustle and bustle of arguments on a daily basis over there lol!... I can't recall a single argument between anyone in this particular thread to be truthful... it's so tranquil and peaceful in here...

...so there you have it kxk... if all goes belly up over there... come into here and we'll talk all wonderous things about the worlds of Doctor Who!!!!!;)... lol!... cheers.:)

LOL @stickyfingers - I come here for my true love the Doctor, and it is such a nice place to hang out:)

I agree and take refuge here, the music thread - no aresholes or arguments there either, and as you know I do love my frocks & interesting pics(hardly surprising since both my parents spent their entire lives in fashion).

I expect to be checking more of your photoshop thread.
But truth be told I think I am finally kind of over BB. Have been a complete addict, watched every series, with waning interest as it got shittier.
This thing of 9's, well it is not BB but some kind of sitcom, 9's attempt at soap - ie they envy H&A & Neighbours.

I'm a bit over BB too. I'll still watch it (unless it turns out to be crap), but I'm over the need to talk about it or even read threads about it that brought me to this forum in the first place.

Finished watching (first episode of the original series) An Unearthly Child today, it's still magical more than 50 years on.

How many shows exist like DW, that you love more and more, the more you watch?
All the love affairs I have had with different bits, different story lines, characters, doctors, mmmm
And was trying to convert the other night - just watch one, you will see, it's magic - you can go anywhere, anytime, do anything, how can you not want to see this beautiful wizardry

Interesting -

BBC edited out a beheading from a fight scene in the third episode of its Doctor Who season, following the killing of US journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff by Islamic State.

The episode sees the Time Lord encounter Robin Hood but the Guardian reports the BBC has decided to edit the climactic fight scene between Robin Hood and the sheriff of Nottingham.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “In light of recent news events, we have made an edit to episode three out of respect.”

The episode was filmed in February.

Hi @Meglos, same for me with BB, I will watch and see how we go - well 9 makes it very casual viewing, just a funny little show.
I'm over any real investment, and we have seen all of those discussions 100 times, done badly or well.
My favourite - is how quickly the armchair psych diagnosis pops up, who will be this years autistic, has to be you know....all that crap.
And there is a whole new gen up there, who are either really young and silly, or very facebook/selfie/famewhore inducted, they take offence if you say boo, and have RTV participant fever - ie they like Kardashians and stuff, and turn Hms into an idol.

I agree with all of you, this is an amazing and really nice thread, and I really appreciate everyone in it. It is this thread that has kept me on this site, along with international BB, which is low key as well. There is nothing wrong with being big and bold, but the BBAU forums are generally just a bit too crowded and passionate for me to enjoy or even have the time to read, though I'm going to give them another chance this year, see how it goes, I probably won't last long, lol.

But this thread is my one true love on this site. You guys make DW even more fun for me, with your opinions, ponderings and of course the interesting news you post. What a happy little DW community we are!!!

I am so pleased to see Peter and the others get gigs like this, I love the recognition of the classic series' contributions. And the Ultimate Time Lord was a nice little show, even if it fizzled a bit at the end. Peter was the only DW I ever had a crush on. Actually I also had a crush on Paul McGann, but that was before he played DW so it doesn't count. I was just the right age for those tween crushes, lol.

Funny you mentioned Tom Baker being nasty. A few years ago I read his book Who on Earth is Tom Baker? and I was devastated by how much I didn't like him. He is no DW in real life!!! Then I read it again and realised how funny the book was, I think I took it all a bit seriously on the first reading, but that creepy feeling about him stayed with me. I still like watching him though.

I agree nutmeg, it's this thread that keeps me coming back. I registered at Gallifrey Base but I don't post and rarely read it, it's a bit overwhelming. This place is just right. I'm sure a lot of people are perplexed when they see that someone is posting about Doctor Who again.

Haha, I think the same thing. Although there are almost 130,000 views of this thread, it can't all be us, so I assume that other people are interested but just don't join in. We're sharing the DW love around, lol.

I'm up to episode 1 of The Daleks now, one episode a day. If you or anyone else want to join in or post your opinions of a particular story that would be awesome, no pressure though. I'm not sure if I can stick with it but I'll try.

I enjoyed Tom Baker's book, but yes, he's certainly a unique personality.

I'm in. Will have to catch up with the Unearthly Child, although I did watch it a few months ago on iView. ABC have been great at regularly posting some of the old episodes, currently episodes from Doctors 1, 2 and 3.

Might take a while to watch them all, we'll have to see how we go, lol. Hopefully some other crazy fans here want to join in? I'm sure some people will have comments from their memories of the episodes, even without rewatching them. Should we just post opinions here, or would that get confusing, so should we create a Classic DW thread?

And then you bring the news to us, yay.

Hello all in the Wellness thread:)

I too belong to every Doctor website/forum/magazine/BBC updates/ thing going. I did stop buying mags at the end of David/RTD run.
I really got into Torchwood and the Torchwood Aus site way back when we were whinging about how 10 shafted it.
But I never visit those places anymore.
The dedicated sites/forums are way too technical for me; and they have all watched every episode from day dot until now 50 times - I'm lost on most of those forums.

And I pop into digital spy all the time for news and bits of goss. And I like reading UK news every day so pick up stuff there.

@nutmeg, well put, this thread is such fun, and as we watch at a similar pace/time, it's lovely to share in the right timezone .
2014 The Dawning of Doctor Who, live has been amazing. I am in love with the ABC for the quick response to our need to see this instantly.

Edit
Didn't see your post above - I vote for a Viewing Who thread separate, or this Nuwho thread will get all confused.
We could ask admin to change this title to Nuwho/currentDW.
And I'm in:)

CLASSIC SERIES
I'm happy to go with whatever you guys decide, a separate thread, or maybe if we're talking about rewatching the classic series, just put it in bold at the top like this? Then anyone who is only interested in the new series can easily skip over it?

That would work OK, or we could change the text colour for the Classic who viewing discussion maybe??

...wow!... I didn't realise that all of you wonderful people thought the same way that I did about this thread being a cosey little safe haven when I posted my thoughts earlier above!... I too have been on other Dr Who sites but it is quite feral on some of them if you innocently say a wrong fact about anything to do with any facet of Dr Who!!!...

...at 'Gallifrey Base' I mistakingly called David Tennant... 'David Tenent' and was pounced upon by half a dozen rabid Piranha's jumping down my throat and never bothered to go back there again... they seem to all be parts of elitist groups within their own little inner circles... thank God that all of you guys aren't like that!!!... it makes the whole Dr Who experience more enjoyable to participate in within here...

...as I said before... I cannot ever recall any arguments between any of us in this thread... and I thank you all for it... aw hell!... I'm going to say it!... I love all of my fellow Whovian's on here!!!... there I've said it!!!!!... lol!... cheers.

"we will reach the promised land"
I saw the words "The Promised Land" on one of the screens in that space ship in "Robot of Sherwood" I think it's small part of a bigger picture which won't be fully revealed till the season finale like the place called Heaven & the 13th Doctors "Lady Friend" when she refers to him as her boyfriend. (Shades of Riversong)
