...the next two housemates Mark and Kimberly... hopefully they are recognisable to you all lol!... I find that Kimberly has such dark smouldery eyes... they are so mysterious to me... ... cheers.

Something that encapsulates who they are and holds up a mirror to what they’re all about. The results were often moving, occasionally impressive, and in a couple of cases, weird.

I’m not surprised about them getting low overnight ratings, this series has gone back to the ‘Channel 5/Jeremy Kyle style’ Big Brother. Even as a long time Big Brother fan, I’m not particularly bothered missing episodes as it’s just not particularly engaging and is too dreary and bitchy.
Last series (the Luisa one) was the first time in a looong time that it actually felt more like the Big Brother I used to enjoy watching (the Alex Reid series was the last decent one). Unlike most of the series on Channel 5, which seem to be devoid of all humour and concentrate solely on moaning, bitching & conflict, CBB13 was more upbeat and actually fun to watch (even the cringey bits were funny), something that’s been badly lacking on Channel 5. As a result, CBB13 received overwhelming positive attention from both public and press alike, so much so that the series was extended due to good ratings and positive public feedback.
So, what did those in charge take from the positive response to CBB13? Well, for some reason they read the response as meaning they needed to change Big Brother back to being low budget, downbeat and humourless again. Starting with the housemates being extremely unlikeable in their VT’s (because for some reason the producers seem to think people like watching people they find incredibly annoying and irritating right???). Then they decided that they were going to air minimal footage that shows the housemates in a humorous, fun or interesting light and instead concentrate solely on moaning, bitching & arguments. Then when the ratings were poor, instead of thinking Oooh, we need to scrap this roadmap and make it more like CBB13 a bit quick, they do the absolute opposite such as giving the housemates the boring smiley task that was designed purely for the intention of creating more conflict that was already mind numbingly tedious (presumably in order to try and get some ‘shock’ headlines from them in the hope of gaining some viewers that way).
Saturdays ‘Bit On The Psych’ is better than the main show and it’s supposed to be just a side show. To make it even worse, we can’t even just watch the housemates on live feed anymore. At least that way we would have a chance to see the more natural and real side of the housemates and even the quieter ones, instead of just the heavily edited and story-line-influenced highlights.
At the moment it’s just something to watch until Big Brother Australia, where at least they still know what an engaging Big Brother series entails, and at least with their highlights being more light-hearted and balanced, it’s possible to engage with the housemates even with the absence of a live feed.
Umm Isn't that what we complain about with BBAU. No live feed or natural conversations. I'm loving BBUK.... Oh well the grass is always greener on the other side

It's quite entertaining to watch them all go a little bit crazy with paranoia over the power housemate. At first I was annoyed that some random called over the garden wall, but I am interested to see how that plays out now that Jale has told a couple of people and is deciding whether to tell more.
Another instance where our BB would have been far stricter. I could see our BB forbidding Jale from talking about what she heard.
Good to see BB pulling Helen up on her bullying. She didn't really accept it though. I read on some other website that she has had something like 14 warnings about her behaviour. She obviously thinks she is safe and is using that to her advantage.
I don't know what it is about Steven but he creeps me out a bit. The way he was flirting with Kimberly was a bit immature also. They were like school kids.

I know very little about the culture in the UK. But I'm wondering after so many series whether the producers are giving the public what they think they want (the fighting and bitchiness) where as Alex Mavro + 9 don't think Australian audiences could handle the reality.
I think the question needs to be fleshed out a bit more.
I don't think that Channel 9 audiences watching at 7pm on a weeknight could handle the reality. Which explains why we have thisHome and Away House Big Brother.
Channel 9 just need something that will compete with what Channel 7 are playing at the time. (Apparently there used to be a Channel 10 too but I've never seen this mythological station).
However if Big Brother were at 10pm like BBUK is (and possibly on a different channel), audiences could handle it. The main problem is that it's ingrained in Australian psyche that Big Brother is a bit of a teenybopper show. It's a shame, because it started with a small edgy, experimental element. Even though Channel 5 took over BBUK and cheapened it a bit, the experimentation element still remains. BBAU has crossed over into cheesy soap opera genre.
