So over the last few weeks I have been to the taping of an Audition episode and the taping of a boot camp episode for the 2015 season.
I'm really enjoying the dynamics of the judging panel. It's great to have Guy back, Chris Isaak brings a sensible but knowledgable opinion and although I've never really been a fan of his music (other than Bonfire Heart) -- James Blunt is a great judge. He is also very warm to the audience in the breaks.
Interesting tidbits: the you tuber with purple hair (DamieLou) who auditioned for the voice and didn't get through, though she was a massive Jessie J fan and Jessie J got up and sang a bit with her.. She was on X Factor but was booted out in boot camp.
They have a new thing in the boot camp which is a bit brutal. It's called the '5 seat' challenge. The taping I went to was for Danni's group which is the under 25 girls. There are 5 seats on stage. Each girl comes up and sings and the judge decides whether that person is in their 'top 5' to go through to home visits and the top 5 get to take a seat. However eventually all 5 seats fill before all girls have sung. After that, they can be swapped out if someone sings better than them.
I'm looking forward to X Factor starting, I prefer the format to the Voice.
