THE VIRUS 2020 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

How much trouble is Daniel Andrews in with this covid business?

Reasonable, informed people know that this isn't really his fault. It's the publics and mainly certain groups within its fault. It's just hard to judge how much of the average population is reasonable and informed.

Sky News used to go off every night at him for being a tyrant locking down the state too tightly, not opening up soon enough. Their viewers all made. Now those viewers are watching Sky News talking about how lax Dan was, how he stuffed it, and all made he wasn't doing enough. So there's no accounting for people's stupidity.

The public are not responsible for hotel quarantine.

As premier though doesn't he deserve some of the blame?

one rule for danni one rule for others lol

It is interesting to observe how media (not just specifically this but see it a lot in america and NZ too) will hype up a topic eg in this video saying privacy in a pandemic is not so important. Yet if privacy was breached they would say all up in arms.

Damned if you do damned if you don't sometimes.

This video was made regarding a New Zealand right wing commentator regarding his response to the NZ govt response to covid

Well then Scott Morrison is to blame, he's PM, doesn't he deserve some of the blame?

The only failure that can really be pointed to state gov is the administration of hotel quarantine. It involved only two hotels whose contracted security did not do the job properly and slept with people in quarantine. Those people, those companies, are the ones to blame for that. Some responsibility does lie with the administration of hotel quarantine, but you can't pretend these people didn't know they shouldn't be rooting people in quarantine. They are the ones that fucked the state... and the guests.

It's selfish idiots and dumb people doing the wrong thing. To what extent the administration of the policy is to blame is being investigated.

The biggest cause of the current outbreak crisis was large family gatherings and people ignoring the guidelines. The majority of people did the right thing, knew to do the right thing. In a couple of communities, people chose to ignore the warnings, ignore the guidelines, spread it amongst themselves and have allowed a larger transmission outside of their community.

The only solution to these peoples stupidity would have been to remain in lockdown and to never come out of it. The best people can blame the Andrew's Government for this is to claim not enough information was provided in Arabic over COVID but that's obfuscating the responsibility of these people, infantilising and treating them with the bigotry of lowered expectations. They have no excuse to not be informed after many months of COVID and lockdowns.

The real blame sits on the Victorian's who had to have the large extended family gatherings and the ones who couldn't keep to hotel quarantine. Both the guards and the morons in quarantine who couldn't do it.

The PM isn't responsible for Victoria. As premier the buck stops with Daniel Andrews.

Who assigned them to hotel quarantine?

Lots of different security companies were contracts by the relevant government department. There's an investigation underway to find out what went wrong.

They are a large Australian wide, security company. Was a mistake made in hiring them? It seems so, wait for the investigation. It, however, is worth noting that what they did, what their employees did was massively outside the bounds of what they were contracted to do. It's not as if the Government forgot to go, "Hey MSS security, by the way, remember to tell your guards to not screw the guests in quarantine, thanks."

No I didn't. Daniel Andrews has to accept responsibility for his governments collosal and dangerous failures.
And everybody in in Australia needs to accept responsibility for their own actions to look after themselves and those around them to prevent the spread of covid.

Every other state is fine. It is those nasty socialist Victorians with their Dictator leader.
