Britt Lower told the LA Times it was Helly.I'm not 100% sure that was Helly rather than Helena in the final scene.

I was quite into it before the larger premise dropped. Now I'm wondering how I feel about it.
So I've been watching Stargate for the first time ever, except I watched the shows in reverse order: first SG Universe, then SG Atlantis, and now the original SG-1. I'm at the end of S7 and they've just introduced Dr Elizabeth Weir and it's not even her.![]()

It wasn't my intention to watch SG-1 at all. I'd seen a post on Reddit where someone said that of the SG franchise, SGU was watchable for a n00b, so I started with that. Having not seen the original movie, I had tried watching the first ep of SG-1 and it seemed so dated, hokey and I didn't care for the whole military theme (being a Trek fan where that's not a thing, and I abhor gung-ho US macho military BS), not to mention the humour being so corny. Although I do like some of the references to Star Trek and other shows/films thrown in there by the writers, that is fun. Like the MacGuyver reference in the very first ep. I was disappointed that SGU had been cancelled though, I really enjoyed that.Very weird way to watch it. It's something I'd like to revisit, but them and Star Trek The Next Generation just seem so monumental to start a rewatch on.

It's all pretty funny really because a long time ago I said somewhere online it'd be hilarious if religion was really based on aliens visiting Earth, and someone replied saying that was literally the plot of SG. In hindsight, yes, I should have watched the movie and started at the beginning, but I was put off by the ancient Egyptian costumes etc. It flew in the face of my Sci Fi expectations.
And also maybe all the humans developed on all those worlds over millennia, but funny how they all ended up speaking American English.
As for TNG it's worse than SG-1 for the first couple of seasons. Even as a huge Trek fan I have no desire to start again from scratch on that, it's so painful, but definitely better from S3 onwards. Voyager, OTOH, is much more watchable, so I'd recommend that instead.
I use Kodi to watch all my content, and have an add-on that shows IMDB ratings out of 10 for each episode. I am watching every single episode, but the ones that rate <7 are a real chore, especially when you get two in a row. So there have been some that were so bad I skipped ahead through. Others were basically clip shows, maybe there were writers' strikes at times? But it's par for the course when they were making 22-episode seasons. You're just going to get some stinkers, and SG-1 sure has more than a few.I've always thought if I went back and rewatched any of these, I'd get one of those lists online that tell you which episodes to watch and which to skip.
This all fits into the category of stuff my girlfriend goes, "you remember that, but not what I told you last week."
It was originally intended to be a new spin-off but they ended up tacking it on to the main series. Richard Dean Anderson had been withdrawing since the end of S7 and wanted out. And Carter's actor was pregnant so she was MIA a lot. Ends up being quite disjointed with the defeat of the Goa'uld in S8 it should have just been wrapped up.It was a bit of a reboot for the last couple of seasons but I ended up enjoying the change. The Ori were pretty good villains. And Morena Baccarin is always a nice addition.
I'm really enjoying it. It's a bit like The Walking Dead except the "zombies" are insane methed up psychos.Really didn't rate the first series - just found it so derivative so quickly bailed on it. Every episode being like a movie isn't a good thing either - that's one of the reasons I ultimately bailed on Stranger Things.
I didn't really care for the switch up at SG-1 with the naff Ori and their magic powers, but the story became a lot more compelling in the latter part of S9 and I'm now 1/3 into S10 and I'm enjoying it a lot more.So now I'm at S9 of SG-1 and it's immediately obvious the whole series was supposed to end at the conclusion of S8.
