I knew what was going to happen because one of the game playing dickheads on Whirlpool spoiled it last year in the TV Show thread where game spoilers are not allowed. So that was a huge let down. But given the S1 storyline had played out to completion I guess there was no further use for Joel. They sure made it brutal though, wow. Obviously I don't know what happens in the game from here, and don't want to. Happy to see the remaining five eps play out but there'll obviously be a big void in the show now.
 
What will be interesting is to see where it goes after this season. I haven't watched, but there's no third game after the backlash from the second game. I sometimes listen to the TV shows writers' podcast, Scriptnotes. He was recently talking to Tony Gilroy who does Andor. He was wanting to lament about how horrible it is to have to write continuing seasons of a show. As he is now working on future seasons of The Last of Us. Tony was like, "Nah we just ended it at season two" and Craig was noticeably jealous.

I'm still unsure if I'll check out s2.

Andor s2 is good though.

The second game will be spread across two seasons. You may as well watch the first two eps of S2 at the very least though. And you can decide whether or not to watch more from next week.
 
So now I've gone full circle on Stargate, and back to SGU where I started. This show premiered in 2009 and it bears the hallmarks of that era of TV (shaky cam etc). I know it copped flack from viewers of the previous versions, but I don't blame producers for dumping the 90s-era episodic TNG/Voyager style and reinventing SG in the modern style. It leaves behind the cheesy humour and pop culture references/jokes, and is darker, more serious and more gripping to watch. The only cringe factor is the soft-rock musical montages which were de rigueur at the time. That's the one thing that has dated this show.
 
When I rewatched Chuck during the pandemic, the amount of music overlays from the time was eye rolling. I also seem to recall from that era, every show used the same bunch of generic, non offensive soft rock tunes for montages and to push an emotional beat.

Having said that, with SGU. I did remember being chuffed when there was a Brand New song in an episode as I like that band at the time.
