THE COUCH - TV Chat Thread

This was after a story about a plumber who charged an old lady $1750 to fix a leaking tap.

see i thought that was news worthy. expose the (im going to borrow this phrase) arsetard for the scum he is.

the old lady mentioned she was saving for a new oven, and had so far saved up $1700- and then guess what the bill came to? $1752.

AND when ACA confronted the guy - he assulted the camera man  and of course its all on tape (dumbarse he is)

I really wonder about some of those so called stories though. On one hand are they also saying that old people are that stupid that they hire people like that?

And why is it you never hear about them handing in the tape to the police to charge the arsehat plumber .... Why don't the people they chase ever end up in court?

As abhorrent as these shows are, I don't think they are saying old people are stupid, I think they are saying they are vulnerable. Unfortunately ACA and TT do also take advantage of their vulnerability, however as Katie said hopefully by outing this arsewipe plumber they will stop him doing it to others.

I get that..... I found the videos

Seems their repoter got bashed.

And the BMX Love Rat

the plumber was a scumbag. on the old people being stupid. it reminds me of a comedian talking about how old people have it both ways.you get in a discussion and it's all "listen here sonny, i've lived a long life i know what's going on." Then on the other hand when they get scammed by being told to leave $2,000 in a locker at the train station in order to receive a brand new lexus, it's all "i'm old and don't know what's going on"
was funnier in the routine..

the love rat... wierd.. it's like eh why report but it is interesting someone is such a scumbag. Also though what's the state of sex ed where people see contraception as just to prevent pregnancy?

Don't you mean "sex ed should teach you how to prevent pregnancy?" I mean have sex but take precautions.

I think up all night meant that condoms are for more than preventing pregnancy, sex ed should also be about preventing disease transmission.

There are always going to be a percentage of people in the community who will be reckless with sex regardless of the consequences. No amount of sex educaton is going to raise the self esteem of these girls so that they don't feel they have to have sex with creatures like the BMX bandit.

It is clear to us that he is a creepy piece of shite so I would have to assume they have never been encouraged to strive for more in their life. The root of the problem (pardon the pun) goes way back to their own families who are more than likely also dysfunctional to some degree.

This may well come across as judgmental to some but in my experience not too many girls with switched on parents would sleep with cretins like BMX boy.

Did anyone else watch Blood, Sweat & Take on ABC2 last night? It was on from 8.30pm to 9.30 & next week is the final.
Anyway I stumbled across it last week & caught most of it last night, from what I can gather it's a group of 6 brittish teens who are basically spoilt brats and/or have no concept of how things arrive at their doorstep. Last night they were in Thailand & they were trying to live the life of the rice paddy workers, and it was hard, the made barely enough money to pay their rent & could only get a small amount of food. It was a real eye-opener for me. They all seemed to have found a new perspective & appreication for what the struggle of day to day life is for some people. Well all the kids, except one brat, but there is still one episode to go.....

"Blood Sweat & Takeways" Coops? instead of "Take"

I didn't watch it, but I've heard people talking about this. There was also "Blood Sweat And T-Shirts" in India as well. It's probably on iView

^^ oh yeah that's it - my silly TV remote guide thingy must have chopped it off. That makes MUCH more sense.:)

I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but here goes.

I don't know why anyone bothers watching Glee. The entire episode is shown on the ten adbreaks about 800 times before the episode even airs. I have seen the cheerleader coach & Olivia Newton John sing "Let's get physical" so many friggin times and its still an hour beofre the episode even airs.

firstly thats an exaggeration- they play 1 song. and people like the show for more than just 1 song. they like watching all the songs.

but i dont like the replaying the song over and over again....i can agree with you on that

I totalyl agree Emcee. I can't stand the show. I had it on in the background for about 15 minutes and they make out as though the whole show is one big singing fest and there was not ONE song sung during the entire 10 minutes it was on. Plus, if I have to hear that woman singing "I am beautiful" one more time on that ad I think I'll scream. Face it honey - YOU AINT!

To me Glee is the TV version of High School Musical........ A little bit of story then BAM! they start singing an uber polished song that sounds like it was recorded in a studio and not a school hall..... it's too polished and glossy........ I did watch the first few episodes but after that felt it was a bit meh.

I know I was exaggerating. I, and most other people, tend to do that when they rant.
But you have to admit, the ads for Glee are markedly longer than ads for most other shows. They sing for 30 seconds. Or more. It feels like forever. And I feel like the ad is on every ad break. Obviously the show is popular, but I do not get it. It's awkward. I think it had the makings of a good show, if they scaled back the "let's all break into song in the most stupidest places possible" bit.

Don't get me wrong - I love watching musicals. But this show just seems to try too hard.

EDIT: Oh look. There's the ad AGAIN.

I don't understand any of the current 'saturation promo's' on any of the channels.

On what planet is it not going to annoy people to see and hear the same thing over and over and over before they get to watch an entire episode??

If people cannot figure out how to look up what is on tv of a night then they deserve to miss out. The amount of people asking on Tv Tonight if Modern Family would be repeated as they missed it was ridiculous. HOW on earth could you have not know that is was on!

Bloody some people sometimes! RANT OVER

^^ To those wanting the repeats of Modern Family, tell them not to bother if they saw the ads, 'cos all the funny(ish) bits were all in the ads!!
