Think you're probably right. Matt and Gerry just never put the effort in with the people they weren't working with either to get to know them or talk game, even if that game talk went nowhere. As we've been saying they were closed books which made them boring to watch but also the jury closed to them too. Liz at least had relationships with all of the jury - though most of that came from the tribe swap stage which I think included everyone on the jury in her tribe other than George. Indeed being separated from George and Shonee is arguably what won her the game.
Matt & Gerry deservedly got no votes & were outed for weak game play & been given a free ride to the end by George. They really contributed to screwing up this season by doing nothing more than forming a strong alliance with George and sticking by it no matter what. It makes you wonder if they ever watched Survivor before. You have to have a story to tell the jury at the finale and both of them had nothing more than a fanciful imagined mindset of how they believed they actually did something other than super glue themselves to George and simply hang on for the ride.

Gerry waffled on about how loyalty is key to him & when George blatantly betrayed him, Gerry failed to act - that was his opportunity to show the remained loyal to George until he was betrayed and then evict him. Gerry's speech to the jury was sure to remind them how they discarded Gerry, so he sought his revenge on all of them, but George did the same to him & he did nothing. It shows that Gerry was full of shit & just wanted to ride George's coat tails to the end.

If Gerry had have orchestrated or assisted Nina to get him out when they were in isolation, it would have changed the game massively - been much better to watch & be a good story to tell the jury.

Matt had the same opportunity, he knew about it, did nothing like Gerry & jut stuck to George for the ride to the end. They all talked to tus in their confessionals about making moves & making a big move for the jury --- but Matt, did absoluutely nothing. At least one of the coconuts had a secret symbol on it to help the people find an idol - Matt was more useless than a coconut...He was one of the worst players ever, to get to the end and not be able to tell just 1 move he made. Like George said, his only move was an idea that didn't happen, he should go into the Survivor hall of fame as the worst player to date...

Exactly, though of course noteable George would defend Matt and Gerry against accusations of being pawns whilst he was still in the game (to protect his own game of course) but didn't put any value on such loyalty whilst sat on the jury.

The questions phase was a mess though - was always going to be with 7 jurors and 3 finalists. Hayley's question was completely wasted too - basically "why should you win?" ×which is as generic as you can get.

A question such as "Why should loyalty rather than betrayal see you rewarded with the title of Sole Survivor" would have been a good one for Gerry and Matt.

Also had to laugh at Liz going on about her multiple alliances when they were all basically variations of the same alliance and at no point was she playing one off against another.

I just hope for future contestants if producers give them a season to watch before going in it is not this one.
